I did something very similar with a lawn mower blade but a big lawn mower I live on plantation so lots of lawn mower blades I know it's crappy steel but I heat treated it and it seemed to harden nicely just wanted to see if I could do it I impressed the entire family now I'm thinking of getting some better steel and getting more serious
That's one beautiful knife right there now !!!! Question ; are the knives that look similar to this one, showed on TV for about thirty to fifty dollars worth the money ? And, do they perform as advertised ?
Thx , you asked about the heat treatment ? I don’t film it as I send knife to professional who do that. Maybe in the future I will but for now this critical part I want to give to professionals .
Hello ! Thx for interesting . In general yes - i am selling them . In most of the cases everything i did is published on my FB profile here facebook.com/TCCustomKnives
Beautiful work! 2 questions - is the steel 'D2' as marked on the piece at the beginning? Also what is the name of the sanding machine you have? It looks nice and compact but very useful. Thanks. More videos please, subscribed!
I own a small handforged (10cm blade length) Serbian knife. I didn't know what it was, I thought it was just a small cleaver. What's the regular size of a common Serbian knife please? Thanks in advance
If you ask specialists regarding heat treatment they will tell you that Heat treatment works the best for the element that has some thickness - more is better in case of such a thin stuff like knife blank. You can grind in soft do a heat treat and do final grinding. For me this is waste of time . I am grinding in hard steel from the beginning to the end. Of course you have to control temperature not to overheat … for kitchen knives < 2mm thick this is the only possible option by the way.
I am from Poland and if you look at other comments and explanations - for some reason some people started to call that type of knife Serbian Knife ... that is happening in TV, Facebook and on YT as well ...
