Fingers crossed that Sherlock is going to be a star someday. He certainly is showing potential but as you say it is a slow and gradual process and can’t be rushed. He’s such a special little boy and I love seeing the progress he is making in your posts ❤
Here's a picky tip. You start by saying "paws up" and then changing it to "stand". This can be confusing to a dog. You can just drop the "paws up" and start by saying "stand". It makes sense to us humans to say "paws up" (because that's exactly what you want him to do), but it doesn't make any sense to the dog (because he doesn't speak English). To be further picky, lure him to put his paws up on the stool (as you're doing--great job!!) but don't use a verbal cue at all until he has an idea about what you want him to do (put his front paws up on the stool). When he has the idea "Hey, dad gives me a treat when I put my front feet up on this thing", then add the word "stand". Say it once and only once. If you repeat it, he learns that the cue is "stand, stand, stand, stand" rather than just "stand". This is all picky, but will make your training a little smoother. Your tip about short training sessions is great!
