Hey striver, I have learnt majority of dsa from you , And you are one of my role model whom I look up to...I have one question which I found strange among competitive programmers, I can't see even a single submission in your codeforces handle , after you reached candidate master, Why is it so ? , I mean usually cp studs usually are addicted to it , But in your case you just forgot your handle password😅?
For me it was different if you see my graph.. I left CP in december, got my Amazon Intern, got my placement at Media.net. Then I started my YT channel, did my 10 hours internship at Amazon, came back thought I need to hit that mark before leaving. So started again. worked 10 - 8 at Amazon, 8 - 10 PM contests, 10 - 3 AM editorials, and next day again internship, which you can find on earlier stages of my channel. Then when I hit it I left, because doing so much in one day was impossible, and was taking a heavy toll on my body.
Try to look it the other way around, some one left, he then felt he did not achieve something, he came back and did it and left, try doing CP after getting a placement after your internship hours. Now you can go back, and confirm the same from my Linkedin internship duration, channel editorials and CP graphs. Let me know if you don't see it :)
CP guys are addicted, but once you start working full time, you need to take care of your health, for me I already run a full fledged YT channel, I just have 24 hours in a day :) You will understand it once you start working full time.
@@striver_79 This was so apt. I am glad you brought this up. A lot of people just feel that CPers quit CP after college because they were only doing it for placements. Lemme tell you, after 1600 rating there is 99% chance that whatever you learn will never be used in internship or placement interviews.
The main factor is time. You stop doing the things you love if you don't get time for them, doesn't mean you stop loving them.

for upsolving, lets say I was able to solve till C and C was 1300 and D is 2000*. Should I even try to look at D or learn whatever the concept used in that question or just leave the question ? I am comfortable with
If you are comfortable with *1400 try to upsolve with 1500 - 1600.
Attempting *2000 isn't going to do you any good.
Chances are you are going to read the editorial , implement the solution and forget the idea in a week or two.

I have a career gap of 3 years after my engineering like I passed out in 2020 BTech in CSE and its almost 2023 now as only 4 months are remaining , As of today it's 29th August 2022 , Thing is I was preparing for some other examinations but now I want to come back in IT sector as my family isnt supportive of my decisions which kind of fucks up your mental state with constant taunts etc, which makes it very hard for me to focus. It's really bad and I want to change as this legit gives me depression man , Can someone please help me what type of tech stacks should I study and if it is possible to return after a 3 year career gap or not ?

I too had a 3 year gap. I have prepared some most common asked leetcode dsa questions and gave continuous interviews. I learnt from giving interviews. I got the sde role with decent salary in 2 months.

Ok so I'm not a champion myself, but i can assure you that noone is a failure, at anything. You're just not solving enough questions. Don't worry much if you're unable to solve on your own. After solving a huge amount of questions (10,000 ~ just an imaginary number) anyone can be a good competitive programmer

But is AI gonna take away software engineering jobs? I know it can't replace developers but one might be able to satisfy the need of 5 other developers int the same time period.

I like your dsa content. But still personally I feel emphasising cp just to be better at "online assessments" seems too much. Rather why not invest time in learning distributed systems better, maybe participating in open source projects too, just speaking from the perspective of doing the job and not entering the job. I feel leetcode is more than sufficient for cracking dsa rounds

People in India usually start doing CP once they enter college compared to people from countries like Russia, China and all who have been doing CP since their school days so they have an edge over us. Maybe in the coming years the CP scene in India could change and maybe even we could win ICPC
