The two Pages with the boy and the dog (where the dog pulls the cart with the milk bottles and on the second Page he is drawing her) are Nello and Patrashe, a Flemish story which is very popular in Japan. The boy is Nello, An orphan who lives with his grandfather. Every week, Nello goes to the market in the city of Antwerp to try and sell the milk from their cow. He also hopes to enter the cathedral one day so he can see the paintings by Rubens, a great Flemish painter. But he doesn't have anough money to pay for that. One week, he finds a sick dog on the side of the road and takes him home. He and his grandfather nurse the dog back to health and from that day, Nello and the dog Patrashe become inseparable. The dog accompanies Nello to the market each week.
Nello is in love with the daughter of the miller, who, of course, doesn't want his daughter to have anything to do with a poor orphan boy. One day, there is a fire in the mill and the whole town suspects Nello, since the miller and he don't get along. Not long after that, on Christmas Eve, Nello's grandfather dies... Nello goes to the cathedral in Antwerp and falls asleep, with Patrashe in his arms, underneath the painting from Rubens, hoping to be able to finally see it with his own eyes when daylight comes. When people enter the cathedral the next morning to celebrate Christmas, both Nello and Patrashe have died...
It is the story of a neverending friendship between a boy and his dog...
I knew this story would be in this book when I started watching the flip through, it's a very popular story in Japan.

I love that book. I’ll probably wait until it’s available on our Amazon though. When you order on Amazon Japan, do you have to make a new account and enter your card numbers in all over again? Or is it just like shopping on Amazon? I’ve been too confused by it to try. And I guess they don’t give you free Prime shipping?
I just change the location settings on my current Amazon account. My sign in is the same. You can change to any of the Amazons from there, Japan, UK, Germany, etc.
