  • The ECHO PAS 225 and 2620 are both awesome machines. I personally would not run my business without at least one of these units. They are so versatile that just would make sense not to have one.

    We got the echo pas-225. Has plenty of power and gets the job done. Did a ton of research and reviews on which brand to get. We found out the commercial lawn care people use either echo or Stihl. These are made specifically for commercial use. I've heard people who has echo/Stihl that are 25 to 30 years old and still working. We almost fell for the Ryobi/Honda but I think Honda only makes 4 stroke string trimmers and it's heavier. You want to use lightweight string trimmers. Pro tip to make it last long as possible. Use the correct ratio for oil and gas. Make sure to use fuel stabilizer. Also when you don't use it during winter make sure you get all the oil and gas mixture out of the gas tank before storing it.

    Just purchased the PAS 225 today. I almost got the SRM 225. I did not know the difference nor did the guy at big box stores ( he was new) I just figured it's a bit more money so I threw in the towel and got it. PAS Eureka when I got the right model. Shoot I almost got Ryobi because of multitool feature. Yell out loud I got the right tools.👍

    I got my PAS 225VP with the edger for $225.00. The PAS has plenty of power to run the edger, blower and hedge attachments. My 4cycle Ryobi would have to work 10 times as hard as the 225 especially running attachments. Don't buy into 4 cycle engines, they run really hot and wear out faster. I was weed edging the yards I do before I started using the edger attachments which makes it a lot easier, I only had one yard where centipede grass overran the edging and sidewalks which i thought my slow my 225, however it cut right through at very low rpm no issues. I'm not saying you should buy the 225VP because it's dependent on the size of your lawn business and how much wear and tear you put your equipment through. I only mow neighbors yards that are in walking distance around 20 yards, well 21 I just pick up one yesterday but my use of the 225VP as far as weed eating and edging is minimal because most of the customers don't want those two trimmings every mowing. I was using the Toro high wheel personal pace Recycler but it's a more lower budget residential mower with cheaper parts especially the tiny air filter. I upgraded and bought the Toro black edition personal pace Super Recycler with the Honda engine which is their mid grade residential mower that has more commercial parts like a bigger and better quality air filter, bigger gas tank, xast aluminum deck and better quality wheels. It does a wonderful job mulching and bagging is wonderful to. I was going to buy the hedger attachment but I prefer using my electric hedge trimmer instead. The blower attachment I won in a drawing but don't use it because I have a really good craftsman blower i like that has different attachments to change the air flow for precision blowing. I sold my backpack blower because I have had back surgery and I find it very discomforting to wear, ghe craftsman is lite and gets the job done without wearing my back out. The bottom line is the 226 does have more CC but the 225VP isn't no slouch either and CCs are overrated under certain situations. I use mine with a brush saw blade with no hesitation on the engine or cable, i suppose the real wear would be from edging over all especially if you run the blade into the concrete curbside, yes I've watched many professional ysrd crews beat the curd with the edging attachment. The 225VP does exactly what I need it to do and I know I'll get a great lifespan with that product.

    Nice thing is that the attachments are usable on either accept for a few power attachments that the 2620 can use that the 225 cannot use. My 225 crapped out due to a cracked head, I ordered the 2620 today instead of the 225 because I needed more power to deal with centipede grass over curbing that the 225 had trouble tackling here in Texas. Also my pole saw attachment lagged with the 225 especially cutting mesquite, I'm pretty sure the 2620 will give me the power for that.

      I really like the PAS 225. It is lite and while it can get bogged down in tall thick grass does really well in normal trimming conditions. It also runs the hedge trimmer attachment without a problem. The PAS 225 is also much liter than the SRM 266. So if it was me, I would go with the 225 all day long.

      I use the Red Armor Oil from ECHO. Just so you know, ECHO runs every single engine before they box it up and ship it out and in their testing they do not use non ethanol fuel while testing because they know most people aren't going to run ethanol fuel in their stick equipment. So if you're running stihl I would recommend the best stihl oil and if you running ECHO I would recommend the best ECHO oil which is Red Armor.

A straight shaft edger uses a steal rod to turn the edger blade. For trimmers it is the same issue plus a curved shaft trimmer causes the operator to have to lean over more than a straight shaft. Both are good but you will get more power out of straight shaft than curved shaft.

    • @zack6892
      @zack6892 Před 2 lety

      I’ll say I started my lawn care business with the Milwaukee quik lok and was really surprised how much it was capable of. I’m talking acre’s of trimming, hundreds of feet of well overgrown edging, hedge trimming that bordered on tree pruning and it has held up great. The down side is you will invest as much or more in batteries to use this commercially with all of its attachments. I will probably be keeping my m18 because it is awesome for early morning work in subs with a home owners association but I have already transitioned into two stroke as it is a lot easier to manage super busy days you never have to worry about charge times. Still the Milwaukee does have its place and I wouldn’t say they are toys honestly they are not far from being a feasible replacement but until they can do a battery blower with 30-40 minutes runtime on the highest setting and increase battery power density it is still the more expensive and less efficient way to work. I wouldn’t doubt in the next ten years we see cordless that have more power then two stroke though especially with Dewalt changing the game with their new batteries. Oh yeah also I love the m18 pole saw and chainsaw I still use these over two stroke being a landscaper but I would still use my m18 chainsaw for light tree work no question and I’ve seen even nicer battery saws from stihl. Makita seems to be leading the charge in cordless OPE right now their combi system is absolutely amazing if it had been around when I got my m18 stuff I would have definitely reconsidered.
