00:37 Insulated Boots
Elegant boots that are lined ideally with sheepskin so you look dapper but your feet stay warm. Surprisingly, most boots in England and even in Italy are just leather lined and not sheepskin lined so you'll have to do a little digging to find exactly what you need.
01:21 Casual Warm Jacket
By that, I mean a jacket that is slightly shorter and just reaches past a jacket if you wear it or past your bum.
02:20 Headwear
The classic choice would be to go with a flat cap, maybe a fedora hat.
02:42 Colorful Lined Gloves
Lined because it's cold outside and that extra layer of cashmere wool will keep your hands warmer then let's say an unlined glove. Of, course if you're in a climate where it's not so cold, an unlined glove is the way to go.
03:52 Interesting Overcoat
Most men today wear a black overcoat, maybe a solid charcoal one, or maybe a solid Navy, and while that's okay, you can actually get away with different overcoats that have more texture in different colors because that way, they work with more of your outfits.
04:39 Dinner Jacket
As you know, the winter Christmas season is Black Tie season and because of that, you can wear a tuxedo. But over time, that may get a little boring and if you want to be a little more festive, you can add color you can add velvet dinner jackets.
05:03 Sweater Vest
It's a mix between a vest because it has no sleeves and a sweater because it's knitted so it's very flexible, it's warm, you can wear it with a pea coat, you could wear with a suit, you can wear with a sport coat, and it just always works.
05:32 Distinct Winter Ties
That means maybe a cashmere tie, a wool tie, and that could be a printed wool challis tie such as the ones you can get from Fort Belvedere. We also have them as bow ties or maybe if you want a little more texture, you could go with wool grenadine. Alternatively, a madder silk is perfect for the season because it has these muted earthy tones that are perfect for the fall-winter season.
06:20 Dressing Gown
When it's cold outside, it's likely also colder on the inside of your house unless you like a high heating bill.
07:04 Heavy Knit Sweater
Ideally, you skip cotton because it's not as insulating but wool, alpaca, or cashmere are what you want. If you are not sure what kind of sweater to invest in, I urge you to check out our in-depth video sweater guide here.
07:21 Gold Accessories
Gold is much warmer than silver and it works with the brown tones you wear in your wardrobe, as well with the general season. So maybe you wear cufflinks, a collar bar, or maybe a monk strap shoe. Ideally, try to go with gold items because it just creates a warmer more wintery look.

11 Must-have items for Winter
1. Money
That's the truth, with no money is impossible get those winter peacoats or any other beautiful clothes.
@@CeRSiete1 I disagree - at least here in Eastern Europe. Vintage second hand shops. I bought warm elegant rawhide overcoats for only 30€.
@@odorric yeah. For me it's gotten to the point where my mom has forbidden me to buy any more coats😭😭
My Great Grandfather had these beautiful leather gloves with a wool lining that he often wore in the cold months. We still have them, and I admire them so much. The stitching is beautiful and they are so well made. From what I've heard, he bought them 50 years before he passed, and they're still in gorgeous condition!
Sven the type of gentleman
who wears a a pocket square with his under wear
Hilarious
3:15 I'm in awe. Those colors look stunning together
Man I have to say you sir should go take a role in a film,I'm saying this in a good way,you are so perfect for a role like a villain,it would be perfect that the villain is a rich boss and secretly runs a gang or something.
that would be fun indeed
I could imagine him as "Q" in a James Bond movie. Or - of course - in a Kingsmen movie.
i would cast those guys, as The Penguin and The Riddler. A stylish team up in Gotham
@Thomas D Nah good guys are pretty boring. For some reason good guys tend to angry, reckless and almost uncivilized at times. A calm and elegant vibe is definitely more villainous
Literally all the shots of you showing off your gloves make you look like a hitman about to strike.
I'm pretty sure that's intentional.
bruh fr xD
*while being choked to death by Sven*
"Oh wow....those are...really soft...and supple"
Sven: "Yes, they're available in the Fort Belvedere shop right now. But shhhh...."
How do I wear my yeezy's with any of this
ChanceNotRapper very simple. You don’t.
Why wear yeezys
walk around with a bag with them, people still know how rich you are but you don't risk scuffungthem
Why would u wear yeezys in winter
It's a joke, guys.
"NO, a dressing gown is NOT the same as a bathrobe".
THANK YOU GOD. I am sick of explaining this to my friends! I recently bought a couple of nice dressing gowns (one blue, and one red) for me to wear during winter, and my friends keep asking me "Why did you buy a pair of bathrobes?".
I just...I just gave up, really. I can't be stuffed explaining it to them over and over again.
That said, I am surprised that you do not have a video about dressing-gowns. I think it'd be a fun topic to do a video on! Please do a video!
That would be nice. To be honest, I had quite the same problem. People can't differentiate the two. I personally have always had a bathrobe, but my girlfriend recently bought me a dressing gown. And it's perfect. Saves a lot of money on heating.
meanwhile, i wear an actual bathrobe at home haha
I really like your videos, focusing on the classy vintage clothing styles, also for the way you present each item "in use" and the relaxed unhurried tone. Thank you.
this guy is a bargain for real style lovers!
great explain, nice voice, elegant and presents real gentleman style!
my respect sven
As a young quite androgynous woman, I really enjoy your style tips!
Lucie ♥️
❤️❤️
❤❤❤
Hey, I am also an androgynous woman too!
I decided to line my underwear in sheepskin, best winter decision ever! Trust me gentlemen. Happy New Year!
Especially in combination with a pea coat I´d recommend a good troyer, either with a matching beanie or with an Elbsegler cap. A heavy and lined troyer get´s you even through the hardest winter.
One of your best videos... thanks for all the top info!
Thanks Sven all your items look grand!
Although outdated I think his style does have its charm and would not mind seeing it being revived as a trend
Much like the Overcoat video, thank you. I'm going to university in a town that can reach below zero, as the norm for winter.
I've always wanted a different style. These are very helpful thank you Sir👌
Very nice and usefull video.
In the same level like the one for Autumn.
Just something for the boots, the solution I found to the difficulty of finding something with a very warm lining, was to buy a pair in a larger size than my usual in order to wear thick wool socks.
Mr raphel really i love your recomendations on winter clothing ❤❤
Brilliant and Positive videos always - thank you
Hi Sven.
This has nothing to do with the content of this video, but could you do a video about trousers?
For instance talking about different types of classic men's trousers, formalities, fabrics, cuts, do's and don'ts, aswell as where to get your hands on classic (30's) trousers.
It would be really helpful.
Thank you.
Very nice video with good suggestions. Thank you.
I've started buying myself nice things so I really like your videos, cheers.
Fantastic video, once again
Dude I love these videos😁
I love winter. It my favourite time of year for sure. Merry Christmas!
Merry christmas to you person from 2018
Definitely should invest in some gloves for winter. I usually always use Mechanix Gloves, and they would be very stylish with my outfit
Merry Xmas Sven, and a Happy and Dappered 2018 to all the gentleman all over the world!!!
I bought a London fog car coat a number of years ago- took it out and discovered it was over 80% wool. I only paid 30$ and it’s incredibly warm. Never get rid of anything made of wool.
Love your vid!
Love all your outfit 😍
Merry Christmas to you and your 😊
Keep the peacoat on haha, that winter look is so sharp, thanks a lot
I went with a gray patterned overcoat. I hope it will be good when it get very cold.
Brilliant as always Sven . . .
Wonderful informative video! When will you do another live stream Q and A? Happy holidays!
Awesome video! What's the brand of the dressing gown you are wearing? I have been looking for something like that for a long time. Where can I buy that?
I think it would be great if you did a video on Western wear. I live in Texas and get a lot of odd looks for wearing dapper suits. A video on how to be stylish in different parts of the US or Europe would be great!
Your videos are so helpful thank you
I really like the P Coat
The best overall go to winter coat is a 3/4 length black leather coat, with zip out hood and Thinsulate lining. You can wear it with everything except a suit. When the weather starts warming up you can zip out the lining and still wear the coat. The most attractive are designed and made in Europe.
When wearing a suit compliment with a charcoal cashmere overcoat, or a full length black leather overcoat. A classic london fog overcoat will also work with many suits, but be careful of the suit color and style.
Black leather wears extremely well and is very easy to clean. A good quality coat will last 4 years or more. Just clean it and condition it periodically and it always looks nice.
Great winter essentials. Killin the game as always..
Hmm I was always told to keep the last button undone on coats so the coat falls around the body better
Sometimes in winter I'm happy I'm alive in that -25C so I forget about looking dapper in those arctic expedition jackets hehe ;)
Yes!!! Thank you!!!
Wonder if you can advise. I'd like an indoor hat for wintertime that also covers my ears. I don't have much hair and and have found that in the frigid New England winters, I can stay warm by wearing a winter had indoors (that covers my ears). But I'm hoping for a more classy option, something stylish and appropriate for indoors but that will also cover my ears, which also get cold. I can't really afford to crank my heat up to 75ºF in the winter, so I'm all ears! Thanks.
Maybe a video on men's winter fur coats would be good.
What kind of head ware would you recommend for a very cold climate? I have multiple flat caps that I love wearing, but as we reach -15 Celsius and lower it gets really uncomfortable to not have my ears covered. I was considering an ushanka, but fear that might look way too casual with my tan overcoat + scarf & gloves combo. Additionally those hats, while a traditional feature of Finnish winter wear, are now also heavily associated with old people and Russia.
what pants should you wear during the winter? I like slacks but they are too lightweighted and thin and you get really cold really fast
I really enjoyed this video. 2017 has been a great year, in terms of what I have learned from GG this year. Keep up the great work you do.
Thank you!
Do a scarfs video sven!!! And link us genuine websites to get them maybe even amazon
While wool flat caps have advantages over something like a toque (better at keeping snow out of eyes, helps with the sun, etc.), you need to do something about the ears if it's below -10C or there's high wind. 180 muffs work very well for this, and you can get them in tweet if you like.
Also, even lined gloves will have trouble keeping you warm for extended periods at really low temperatures. You can get lined leather mittens, or drop the leather for warmer materials like gortex. I don't know of a 'stylish' solution for keeping hands warm in a humid -20C.
Completely agree. For someone living in Canada with -10-20C winters, cashmere lined leather gloves won’t do much after 30min..
@Russel DeLong: I have a pair of brute raw rabbit leather gloves, fur inside. Works pretty well until -15. Under that I'd (and I will) go with some heated device. I'm a street market vendor in Hungary where temperature goes down to -20, I know what you're talking about 😀
Love the vids Learning so much but what about ... Traveling
Hi Sven/Raphael, whatever you prefer, I am looking for a bouttonere and I wonder what the most versatile option is.
I love winter my personal choice is good Tweed in England it's the perfect choice sadly this way of clothing choice is bringing me more trouble from people who feel it's there life mission to be rude to people who do not wish to spend their life in sports clothing of gray toweling
Peasants.
The best channel on youtube when it comes to men's fashion!
Incredible job sir!
Thank you!
Nevermind that my eyelids are frozen together, my lips are frozen shut, and I have frostbitten genitals, if I have a fedora on while snowblowing my way through the latest winter weather disaster, I'll be "dapper."
thanks for your comment it spit some truth out here
To be honest for most people though, it's not fedora vs ushanka (or whatever,) it's fedora vs no hat which is mush colder.
What abut if your from Australia and it doesn't got snowy
I have a larger head size, any recommendations on where I can find xxl caps or fedoras? Thanks.
Any suggestions for extreme cold, -30°C or colder?
Would an Ushanka work with the pea coat or the over coat?
Raphael. Is it optional for the dressing gown to have a chest pocket?
Please suggest some places to buy 100% wool sweaters and vest.
What do you guys think of Panama Jack? Does is have a story to tell do you like their boots?
6:32 It's normally colder inside your house when it's colder outside your house;... unless you like a high heating bill. As an Alaskan I was rolling on the floor for that joke. I know people who have their houses 80 degrees and really do like high bills but I have never heard it put so bluntly. Lol
I live in Canada and I wear an ushanka in the winter for a head dress
nice vid, but totally useless for Russia
Илья Алексеенко
Guess this is what to wear in Siberian summer. Where my dad is from winter is 20 Celsius and heavy as fuck rain.
Чики брики и в джентльмены
Rusia 🇷🇺 que frío 🥶
I am not sure deepest darkest Siberia is his target market.
Can you make a Video about the Fez-Hat ?
I don't get wearing a tie with a sweater vest. Although, I have done it. Probably wouldn't now.
My late son, when he was a teen, said that sweater vest are chic magnets. Lol. .
I comment two years after the release of this video, but I just discovered your channel recently.
I work as a hamdcrafter vendor, also in winter, and it's not always easy to keep yourself relatively elegant and also don't freeze. 0 or -10 or even - 15 Celsius degree is absolutely different while walking, and doing stuff, or while standing still 12 hours in one place with only a few steps.
I have two rawhide overcoats with real fur lining inside, so I prefer those. I can wear literally anything under them as no one will see it anyway.
But choosing a hat is not that easy for me. My longer hair and facial hair, that I have due to movie shootings, makes flat hats and fedora hats just inconvenient and odd with my face. My hair style is either 80 years earlier or later than the popularity peak of these hats. So I don't know what to wear. In -10 the usanka comes for sure, much fur all around, but until that... It's truly not easy. 😌
Wouldnt like to see this man at the playground
I'm more into high fashion myself but damn your videos are entertaining.
Alot of it is high/ haute fashion, but on the more conservative side
A bit late, but does anyone know which model the black shoes are? The ones from shoepassion.
Do you have a video for fur coats?
In England a ‘sweater vest’ is called a ‘tank top’ 😊
“Makes you look dapper”
*Takes a shot
“Dapper”
*takes another shot
Hello! whats the brand of the brown chukka boots shown at 1min? thanks!
what brand boots?
His videos are well edited and very informative but his style is : mix green red blue yellow in the same attire
I keep not knowing if he wears bulk clothes or if that is the right tipe of clothes for his body tipe..
Timberlands or bread 1s and a north face puffy jacket
Partial to the sweater vest... prefer button down. Not easy to find.
Love your channel, Sven. What brand are the unlined chukka boots at 1:00? They're really nice. As always great content. Thanks!
J.miguel those are Saint Crispin chukkas. Absolutely elegant 👌.
If you happen to know the brand name of those sheep-lined boots that’d be grand.
Winter. Apricot brandy and a cuddly lady.
Can peacoats be other colors than black such as navy blue
Zara coat and barbour scarf an black lether shoe is that nice
How do basque berettes fit with this style?
I can't find this shoes can somebody help?
Where do you get you clothes brushes if I may ask if you
-Blake
Personally, when it comes to winter wear, I prefer anything milsurp. if you can, get yourself a soviet navy winter overcoat, you'll never complain about cold again.
Where can I find those types of boots?
I hate fast fashion, Its impossible to avoid now days, especially for women I feel. Some of my mum's old dresses are over 15/20 year old and still looks great and new. Mine break down with washes just little 2, expensive ones too. Love this channel, wish theres a female version. ps: My dad owns a ysl double breasted purple velvet suits he bought in hongkong in the late 80s, he is a little too big for it now, so he give it to me. I want to make in into a jaket coat for me, but little scared to give it to any taylor. Any tips?
Are dressing gowns the same as smoke jackets?
Hi Sven, I want to wear the hat but my hair get messed up when I take it off. since I cannot wear hats in the office. do you have a solution? thanks,
Same, what i have been doing is, after shower, brush your hair the way you want first, then dry it with a blower and finally put a good amount of hair pomade to “lock” the hairstyle. When you go out carry with you a small brush and pomade so when you get to work you can quickly fix rebel hairs
Can i wear air max on this
Could you maybe do a Video on good outfit on a budget? Because I try to wear the best I can, but I can simply just afford thrifted stuff (I am a student), and I try to follow your guidelines the best I can, but most of the time it just isnt possible for me
Student here as well. Just pick one garment like a coat or jacket you really like and search thrift store and fleamarkets for things, that fit with your garment. Invest the most you can afford in a below knee length winter coat, because it will be the item people see the most of. You should also invest in your pants in shoes. The rest can be whatever you find. However I advice you to buy a pullover or a turtleneck in a light brown tone, because it will pair well with any overcoat you can find.
I really want to buy one of ur wallets, I really love the look, and I can afford one, but I'm not sure if I should get one.ive had a trifold for years, and I'm looking for a nice billfold, but I've also got my first real job and I need to buy nice clothes, including those nice gloves and some vintage suits and stuff...what do u recommend?
+Brett Breeze if you have a new job, I suggest to take care of that wardrobe first. It's cold outside right now so a pair of gloves has priority over a wallet. Once you have the job you can put some money aside and get wallet a few months in
S Tra like a wallet I’m sorry but some pow;lie would rather not look like bum but I still save money
Hello. What do you think about shearling jackets? I live in Russia, it's pretty cold out here in winter. Can I wear one with a jacket or should I stick to a coat and stay frosty?
You staying warm is your first priority. Of you have the clothing items or the money, you can do it like me and wear an undershirt beneath your shirt, a turtleneck above your shirt, a thick wool sports jacket and a winter overcoat above that. Pair that with gloves and an ushanka and you've got yourself a stylish outfit that will keep you warm regardless of the temperature.
That is great, but definatley won`t work for the winter type of clothing in Russia, which is sad. It is probably ideal for our late autumn and early spring, also think same about Canada
he lives in minnesota, which is basically canada, so unless he's lying he makes it work for himself
