    Connor is my favourite Assassin's Creed protagonist because he was the first one in the series to try and understand the Templars' point of view, and even went as far as trying to make peace with them, something no one had even considered before in the franchise. He always questions the people he interacts with, but despite listening to what they have to say and even talking amicably to a few of the Templars he meets, he never actually lets their words sway him from his path. I believe his character arc is meant to be a flat one (he does never change his point of view -- he is the one making/trying to make others change their. Like he did to Achilles, and even to his father to some extent, though he couldn't convince him to abandon the Templars), and I have always viewed both Connor and Haytham as the embodiment of the best qualities of their respective orders (both Connor and Haytham have great conviction, are noble, do not go out of their way to harm people without reason, won't kill people if they don't think it is necessary, and they both are 100% certain that freedom [for Connor] and order [for Haytham] are necessary for mankind to live in peace. Both of them are kinda naive about the flaws of their respective ideals, and that is what makes their discussions so interesting).

      @madpandagaming5895  Před 2 lety +32

      I love this because its vary true, I feel like the reason why Connor never antagonized the templars truly was because he didn't grow up in one faction. as we know most assassins did like Altair who was born into the brother hood, and so did Ezio he may not have known it, but unknowingly he was being trained by his father and brother. Connor was raised by his tribes morels. that's why even though he was an assassin his tribe came first. and that's why it was easer for him to understand both sides. he could have been the key/best assassin to bring true peace he was just born before his time.

      @thayspamacheno628 Před 2 lety +28

      @@madpandagaming5895 Exactly. Besides, Connor didn't even want to become an assassin, he only did it because Juno told him it would keep his people safe. He never felt truly attached to the Creed the way Altair and Ezio did. If only Shay had become Grandmaster after Charles Lee's death, I've always felt he and Connor had a lot in common (as both of them acted only because they wanted to protect people, they did not care that much about their orders' doctrines). Together I believe they would've been able (and willing) to end the Assassin-Templar war for good.

      The way haytham gets angry with Benjamin Church reminds me of Connor with George Washington, with an exception to the beating. They both reach out to each other in their own way and rebuke similarly. They're absolute mirrors of each other, but with haytham, instead of naivete he was ruthless in his pursuit of order. This was shared by shay cormac but haytham being more of a zealot.

    • @dumbassdude8372
      @dumbassdude8372 Před rokem

      @@madpandagaming5895 The templar connor met was genuinely fighting for a cause. Haytham knows that the only way to have peace is to have order, but that strips everyone's freedom. However I do agree with the templars here. If only they'd let the templar control everything. Indians would probably still have controls over their territory. Black folks probably didnt endure that much of a slavery.

    @edrickt5907 Před rokem +89

    The speech says a lot of Connor's character, he may come out as naive or green but not because he lack knowledge or understanding to the world around him but because he opposes them.
    He said it himself, his father was right, he knew it deep down that his fight will never end, the world and his idea of freedom will never truly happen, his struggle for peace and freedom will not matter because it won't ever exist, yet he push on, for that slim hope that it could happen.
    Compromise is what people told him to do, and he did. But his compromise is not to abandon or skim his ideals and views but to reject the idea that this world could not change.

    I wish this was in the game. It does so much for Connor’s character by the end of the game. He is forced to accept that, for his people, he made the wrong decision. He opposed the Templars without understanding them, guided by an old man he didn’t know. He should’ve asked more questions. He should’ve been more skeptical of the colonists. He should’ve been more skeptical of Achilles. But he wasn’t. He was told killing the Templars would save his people. The Templars are dead, but he achieved nothing. Now his people are gone, and this new nation he helped create turned out not to be what he’d hoped for.

      @v.k.rt.m.6030 Před rokem +9

      This new nation however had wiped out his people. Seemingly it wasn't Achilles who started it, he just propagated his Creed. It was Juno. The Deceiver. She was the one who on the spirit journey said that he must seek the symbol of the Assassins in the first place. It was all her doing. She misguided Raton, and lied about his people's outcome should he heed Juno's Command.

    • @haemoslime4520
      @haemoslime4520 Před rokem

      He couldn't have sided with the templars because Connor was anti-war and against tyranny. He didn't want any outsiders on his peoples land and didn't matter to him who it was (Templars or Crown or the Patriots). Connor couldn't support the Crown as they were the oppressors in the conflict. He couldn't support the Templars as they demanded obedience from the natives in order for them to have their land. His only choice was the Patriots. While even then he didn't support the Patriots whole heartedly.
