This is what initially led me out of adventism. Reading EGW and all her add in to scripture I began to question where does the Bible say that?… you won’t find much of it. It’s a twisting and adding to. Thank you Holy Spirit for giving me discernment and guiding me to all truth and wisdom and out of the Adventist church.

I'm pretty sure it's not going to end well. Btw, what church should I go to now? I still want to respect God through obeying his commandments and not bow down to Mary or saints. I actually had first hand experience with this, and by the grace of God things went well over time. At first it is impossible to not create some tension and friction. Personally, the way I spoke about the topic was making a clear distinction between what my now wife believed at the time and what the official SDA statements were. This was so she would not feel as if I were attacking her directly and instead pointing out flaws with the system and theology. As stated before, it's inevitable that she will feel challenged in some way, but it's all about doing it in very bite sized pieces over a long time. When a pastor says something, or when something is said about a specific topic point out how your opinion is different based on what the Bible says and show her, using proper hermeneutics, how the text should actually read. SDA uses the proof text method for almost all their doctrines, and honestly it's very easy to refute often by reading the previous and following verses and you won't even need to give your opinion most of the time, just let the text speak. By doing so, and not even criticizing SDA, you will point out the inconsistencies without being too direct. As she is your gf, she will naturally consider your point of view and won't just dismiss it. Pray daily for her, as the only thing that can change her heart is the Holy Spirit. I myself left Seventh-Day Adventism by the grace of God after being there my whole life, and believe me when I tell you unless a miracle happens its impossible to have the scales come off your eyes. It's a very well thought out system, it's got cult-like properties of emotional and behavioural control, and unless God pulls you out there is not way you leave. So my best advice is pray, pray, pray. God bless!

@@partlysimpson5154 Yeah I believe the way the SDA organisation has so many members is that vast majority don't even read the Bible much.. They only know what they have been told and few have personal study time. Being SDA for 23 years I knew maybe 5 or 6 people that actually read the Bible regularly, and most did it with the Adventist Bible commentary alongside or with Ellen White's books beside the Bible to interpret the Bible. That is why it is such a difficult process, because most times the process starts with people actually STARTING to read the Bible, which if you aren't really interested, is quite difficult. People come up with all kinds of excuses, either they don't have time, are tired, find it boring, etc. They will find time to spent hours watching Netflix, but won't spend 30min a day reading the Bible to actually test what they are just accepting from the pastors and elders without reservations. It's very sad...

I did not agree with a few of the statements made during the baptismal class, but kept quiet and went along with it thinking that since my parents and family were in the church, it had to be the correct church to be in. As mentioned, they really water down everything for young people, and most of the members do not know at all how the system works. They are kept on spiritual soup. And even though I studied in SDA schools all my life, I never really got to the meat of the theology. Basically what happened with my conversion to Christianity was I read 1 Timothy 4, which God used as a bucket of ice water to wake me up to the fact I had never tested Ellen to see if she was a true prophet. One thing led to another, a few extraordinary miracles happened, I had a radical conversion after hearing the true Gospel, and here I am 5 years later, currently attending a confessional Reformed Baptist church and hoping to soon become a member. Meanwhile I have been able to witness to other family members and friends which has led to them leave SDAism and accept the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many still remain, and I pray daily that God open their eyes as He did with me.

No, it isn’t bizarre. It gets into the doctrine of headship and how Adam should have been protecting Eve and wasn’t. Adventism has zero concept of this doctrine.
But it’s always nice when Adventists (assuming you are) appeal to “other commentaries” to try and bolster their beliefs because it highlights the glaring inconsistencies in the system. This is only a valid defense when Adventists need it but not on, say, the mountain of commentators that point out the Greek text supports the first day sabbath in numerous passages. Then all of a sudden it doesn’t matter that “other commentators” say something.
