Rath Yatra (Chariot festival) is a Hindu festival associated with Lord Jagannath held at Puri in the state of Odisha, India. Odissi dance evolved inside the Puri Jagannath Temple by the Dev Dasis. Odissi and Jagannath culture have always walked in parallel with the wheels of time.
Rath Yatra is the annual journey of the deities, Jagannath, Balaram, and Subhadra on giant wooden chariots from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha shrine. This event attacks thousands of devotees from all across the globe who participate in pulling the three vehicles with ropes to take part in the Lord’s yatra.
