And in bahrain he had to give the position back because he used the outside of the track to gain an advantage. For those who don't know why the controversy here is the explanaition ; Michael Masi (the race director) allowed the cars between lewis and max to overlap the safety car on the the penultimate lap, BUT restarted the race on the last lap. The 2021 rules says that you have to wait one lap after the safety car overlap to restart the race, in this case Michael Masi restarted the race right after the overlap. The right thing to do was to end the race under the safety car. BUT there was a well know "gentleman agreement" between all F1 teams to not end a race on a safety car because it hurts the sport. Michael Masi was doomed what ever the choice he made, he was nor wrong or right.
Ending up as chairman of supercars isn't that bad if you ask me. Much less stressful, cool cars with big V8s and drivers that really go hard racing just like Masi loves it.

II don't get the hate. Max was suppose to lead the race at the beginning as Hamilton overtook off track (for which Max was penalised the race before) which changed the race a lot. So this kind of evened out.
