These products aren't beholden to any countries' safety standards, as you, the buyer, are the importer of record, who'd normally be held liable for making sure the products met any level of safety. I think some people who are less well off you prefer to buy new, cheaper things rather then second hand or smaller amounts of quality items. Because they want to feel like they can afford new things and second hand makes them feel poorer. Whereas some people who are better off put value on being socially conscious with purchases and like to shop second hand either because it matters to them or becauses its trendy.

Most important thing, I'm glad you're okay :)
As for Temu, the old Latin phrase maintains its power to this day; "Caveat Emptor" or "Let the Buyer Beware".
As for those warnings about the cheap prices being due to worker abuse, while you're right, I hope you're not posting from an iPhone. Apple is notoriously horrific to its Chinese workforce, just Google "Apple worker conditions" to see the horror show for yourself. For at least a decade (if not longer), they've been constantly reported on for their abhorrent factory conditions. So expensive price tags don't negate the abusive dynamics of a company. Just sayin''

literally any computer chip will have poor conditions; from the materials mined to produce them, to the factories where they are assembled.
As for temu, they do actively audit suppliers. Temu itself is a bit like ebay; Temu does not produce any goods, they simply offer a platform for manufacturers to sell on (like wish and aliexpress for example). If someone on ebay sells stolen goods, for example, I would not blame ebay, but the dodgy seller.

The aquarelle and markers do indeed look nice, but I'm mainly concerned about the quality of the pigments used and therefore how light fast they will be. Name brands might come with a hefty price tag, but at least you know your art will last and you won't be left with an empty sheet of paper where you once spent hours painting on.

See I feel that if you don't put it in the sun it should be fine. I still have my kids kiddie crayola art from 25 years ago and it hasn't disappeared

As far as alcohol markers go, they are pretty much never lightfast. Even Copics are not lightfast. They use dyes, not pigment inks.
The really cheap watercolor are likely to use dyes as well, either exclusively or to enhance inexpensive pigments. The good news is: You won't be left with an empty sheet of paper anyway. Many times colors change, but they usually do not outright disappear. If you store your art well, without direct constant sunlight, it will last even with cheap supplies. If you want to hang it up, you could consider using UV resistant glass.

My mom got me those alcohol markers 2 years ago from Amazon and at the time they were like $40 but, I could never find them again on there 🤷🏽‍♀️. The red and pinks smelled terrible and and would make everything I drew smell just as bad, They did a really good job coloring . They’d be great for those wanting affordable alcohol markers. Unless if you have a sensitive nose.

I use Temu for probably about 25%-50% of my wardrobe, since it’s really hard to find clothes (especially feminine clothes) in my size that aren’t priced differently than general sizes. Pretty much everything else is Walmart, or Old Navy when I can afford it.
Online clothes like these of course aren’t as good quality as Old Navy, but I take good enough care of my clothes and don’t follow too many fashion trends that I’m able to keep them for longer than people talk about.
Specifically skirts, dresses, and button up tops have always been frustrating for me, lots of Temu items I’m wearing these days are just good stretch fabric and priced in my budget. (They also have fun styles and patterns that differ from the usual choices of “middle aged eccentric art teacher” and “pregnant crunchy mom”)

I think it's oaky to purchase fast fashion if it's the only viable option for the price you can afford and especially if you wear the shit out of it. It might be produced unethically but so are many designer labels. Half the responsibility comes down to the consumer. When some people spend very little, they devalue the item and feel its okay to wear it once and throw it away

Thank God that no one was hurt and that you are safe in your home…since it didn’t catch fire! Terrifying! But I totally agree that by far your life and health are the most important!
Stupid question but the electronics that were plugged in and absolutely fried when the lightening struck covered by insurance, warranty/guarantee by the surge protection companies? Truly hoping that whatever was (fried) lost will be replaced at no cost to you. Not sure how that works.
I’m fairly new to this channel and absolutely love everything I’ve seen. Curious if you ever do tutorials or anything like that? The two pieces you created and show at 12:33 are simply perfection! As a 45 year old woman who still can’t draw a straight line with a ruler and continuously screws up abstract paintings (yes both are 100% true sadly) yet has a passion to create in any and all mediums I need help! If you already have tutorials posted I’d greatly appreciate being pointed in that direction. If it’s not your thing I’d greatly appreciate it if you or someone on here could let me know some good channels where I can start learning please.

I am so glad she said the market was so good. I just literally bought 120 markers from Temu. For $33 and was wondering if it was going to be a waste of money since I know alcohol-based markers are so expensive. So I'm so glad I saw this video now I know I got my money worth and at a cheap price too!
