All in all, the sparring session was entertaining to watch, but there was a few things I saw that you could work on
    1. You need to balance your defence with offence. don't just block, fight back
    2. Look for good openings to strike. Find spots where their guard is down or where they're open
    3. Don't put yourself in a position where you can be grappled. Seeing as how you lost, sorry "won," because of that. Keep your kicks fast and precise
It won't kick in (pun intended) too fast, but it will work eventually

When Bruce Lee was a kid, he was inspired by Great Gama. The Indian Wrestler does 5,000 squats and 3,000 pushups a day. Plus, hours of daily wrestling. Gama often ate cups of fruits, a whole chicken or two, pounds of beans known as "pulses", some gallons of almond milk. He not only lifted a 2,600 lbs stone but carried it a block or across the street with little if any difficulty.

Technique, definitely, especially if you are learning a new technique that you haven't practiced and are now putting a days of emphasis on it. But nobody can convince me that they trained for 5 days and anything changed except that they became more familiar with the movements.

His power wasn't just for training. He also fought racism from both sides, China and America. He broke down the barriers and opened the doors for every single Asian and African American actor we see today. He went from being forced to wear a mask on his face to being an international idol. Somehow he knew the future would be social media. He used movies to promote his art and his culture. He then got the Chinese mafia on his back. They asked him not to teach white people Chinese kung fu. They challenged him and he kicked their asses. He then did the high school boxing in America and became the champion. All of this shaped him, and he changed from his traditional Chinese style to a system with no style and no way as a way. Whilst casually pursuing a PhD he started to analysis body mechanics, ranges, and fencing. He completely built a new martial art from the ground up. Due to this huge amount of training, research, and pure genius, Bruce Lee changed human combat forever. He didn't use a uniform, he didn't use a belt system, he didn't use any forms or katas, his teaching were extremely violent and aggressive. -- ''A man strikes you, make him bleed. He makes you bleed, you break his bones. He breaks your bones, kill him.'' -- ''Being hit is inevitable, strike back twice as hard.'' -- ''Always think hit.'' -- ''First strike''. These ideas just don't work well for your average kid's karate or fat people hobby classes. As a result, Jeet Kune Do is very hard to find and there are only a few teachers still living today.

Most everything you have said, is total Bullcrap. Easily disproven, with less than 5 min worth of searching. For one thing, Lee beat up the son of a Triad gang member, when he was young, in Hong Kong... which is basically why Lee was shipped over to the USA. He was not a "Nice" person. He was a little punk, that enjoyed provoking fights, and harming others. He was kicked out of Yipmans classes, when it was discovered that he was standing outside of the building... saying that class was canceled, so that he could get one on one time with Yipman. He was a self-serving Narcissist, and frequently had bouts of Narcissistic Rage. He was also a drug addict, and he cheated on his wife with an Asian woman (whom he was found deceased, in her house).
NOBODY cared that Lee was teaching westerners. That whole thing, was nothing but a Movie FABRICATION !!! In fact, Wong Jack Man, was tricked into fighting with Lee. He was told that it was going to be a typical sparring match... yet Lee came at him, as if it were a fight to the "End". Lee couldnt harm wong. Lee and Lees camp, Lied about defeating Wong... and when Wong found out about Lees lies... he Challenged Lee to a PUBLIC fight. Lee, despite saying that he never turned down a fight... refused.
Wong Jack Man, was not only a fellow Chinese martial artists (not a mafia member!)... but he was also both higher skilled than Lee, as well as taught westerners, himself !!! So... your entire Racism fueled story... completely Falls apart.
JKD was never meant to be an actual art. Lee realized, that when trying to re-invent the wheel... just how many times his theories didnt work well. And that there was no way that he was going to be able to compete in one lifetime... with what the Chinese came up with, with 2000 yrs of constant daily manpower.
At that point, he CLOSED all of his schools, and stated that JKD was just a "Concept". Thought, even that Concept was not invented by Lee. The ancient Chinese had been inventing various arts and methods... and challenging each others arts in fights, and in actual wars. The winning systems methods were adopted, and as such... these arts tended to have many of the same principles and training methods... due to this constant advancement.
BTW - He didnt build an art from the ground up, either. He mainly taught the same material that he learned in Wing Chun. An art that he only learned the first level material from (out of 3 levels). Since he didnt get to finish learning WC... he was not qualified to be an official WC teacher. To prevent students from questioning the origins, and his lacking knowledge... he tried to mask where all of these teachings came from. He used Fencing, for example... as he knew that Wing Chun and Fencing share many of the same methods and principles. But he was not actually teaching fencing, nor fencing drills / methods. He was still teaching Wing Chun methods, and WC drills. He would just add more material from the various other sportized arts, that he encountered. Ohh, and BTW, ancient Chinese combat arts, rarely if ever, have "Belts". There are levels of materials learned... but there is nothing given to a person whom completes a level. At most, if you completed the entire art... and IF the teacher felt you were capable.. you might get qualification to be a certified teacher. (Officially Backed by a highly reputable Sifu & Historical Lineage)
I have 28 yrs of experience in the highest level combat arts. Most of which are from Wing Chun. I know far more of WC that Lee ever learned. I also know a LOT more, such as from other higher level arts, that Lee was trying to bride certain students to teach him, behind closed doors.
I respect Lee for the hardcore work ethic he had. But he isnt this superior Moral character you make him out to be. In fact, he was quite the opposite.

@@johndough8115 I stand corrected. Bruce Lee was a drug addict. The Chinese Communist Party doesn't track and suppress their citizens, Asians always had lead roles in movies, and Wing Chun uses fencing footwork.

I could be wrong but I believe what you were doing was a 3 inch punch, if I remember correctly a 1 inch punch has the fingers curled inwards so that the joint past the knuckles is the one touching the board rather than the finger tips before throwing the punch.

See I like the point Brandon makes at the beginning: “arguably one of the greatest martial artists of all time” people that make the argument that he isn’t a real fighter are missing their OWN point. He’s a martial artist, not a fighter. Movies are a whole other thing. He’s not about fighting people, he’s about discipline, lifestyle, and philosophy.
