Coming from someone who has done island lights for 10 years, you nailed it! Ignore all the comments about not covering the island, the place will be cleaned later anyway so a bit of drywall dust added to the cleaning job is not something a professional has time for.
Also, the grounded light is connected at 2 points to the box so even though it's code to ground the metal box, the practice is redundant and really a waste of time. No time to strain at that gnat.

Ground your metal box with a ground screw. Plus you are not allowed to put more than one romex into a pancake box. If you think your going to land on a roof truss or floor joist, then you need to pull multiple switch legs from your switch box.

I wonder what would be faster, string with a brick hanging off of it or a laser level.

Very nice 👍 install job fellas, you obviously have taken the age old kitchen remodeling adage to heart, you measure three times and cut only once. One quick question though, how important is it to have the dropped height of your new pendant fixtures the exact same height as the already existing dropped pendant fixture over the kitchen table? In cases though where there is no kitchen light over the table constraint, what is the standard height of the new pendant light fixtures over the peninsula countertop? 😎
