    I am glad you back, and very informative video as usual. see At TAFE (in Australia) everyone in my class first year, struggling with test.
    If you decide to make videos for apprentices;
    1. Earth Continuity Test
    2. Insulation Resistance Test
    3.Continuity + Polarity Test
    4.Short circuit
    5.Fault loop Impedance Test videos will be great addition to your show. And we will refer to it all the time. cheers

    Excellent video Dave. Have been watching all your videos one by one, since I subscribed last week. Keep it up mate, you're explanation and attention to detail is commendable. Cheers for sharing your experience and knowledge.

    Welcome back! Got a stupid question for you - I have downlights in one room wired into a fan remote (that just broke). So let's say it's "loop into the rose" system I need. What is the best way to wire in a light switch to a series of downlights that are using plug bases and currently directly connected to the mains? Do I intercept the first plug base and send the live down to the commons on the switch and rejoin the first base at neutral?

    A popular video would be swapping a light switch with those new touch glow in the dark switch that bunnings sells

      In those circumstances the electrician can place a short strip of timber (eg 20cm) across each hole in the interior of the ceiling and glue it to the plasterboard (all done from below). This will enable a solid fixing provided the fitting is not too heavy.

    What if there is no timber in the ceiling to screw into? Cheers

      If you can't come up with a solution to that part, I'm not sure you're ready to do work on electrical circuits.

    Is there a reg that says you dont have to megger lights/power points when you're just replacing/altering? And would you do a ESC for these?

    • @sparkydave
      @sparkydave  Před 2 lety +1

      No standards to that affect, for maintenance (replacement) of light fittings. Of course in some instances it is best practice to ensure RCDs (where installed) and EFLI are tested appropriately (ie, for socket replacement in wet areas). Just an ESC in this instance 👍

    Watch your either/each/either's. As an instructional youtuber, you don't want someone just doing stuff on one side rather than each side.
