- Today we take a look around Lloyds Horizon Data Centre, Corby NN17 3FE.
This place has the highest security I have ever seen which we see in detail when we take the drone over.
We speak to security via the intercom before we leave to see if the humans are as good as the security equipment they have.
Enjoy!

With all that security it just proves that data is more valuable than gold.
Data _are_ more valuable than gold.
What makes me laugh is we keep using up our fields for solar farms yet we have massive buildings like this with not one solar panels on the roof 🤦♂️
Lidl put solar panels on some stores and they had to pay higher business rates. Something to do with valuation of property with solar panels.
Because it simply isn't worth it. That site has 2 x 20Mva supplies into it, 40kw of power (if you are lucky on a sunny day) doesn't make a difference.
aaron, I put a comment above, panels on rooves cost more to install, maintain, upkeep etc than the electricity cost return , certainly in the UK
@@glennb2006 Exactly. Here is not exactly anywhere near the equator.
Just seem like a better spot to put them than on a field is what I’m saying instead of Valuable field space
AB sent me here😄 ; the drone is a real asset! 👍
And me!! 🤣💕🙋🏼♀️🇬🇧
Found this link on ABs video, seemed you achieved what AB failed to do in finding out what this place was 😂 Big respect DJ and of course big respect AB always
where did the sign on the front gate disappear to after DJ's visit?
@@ccjelley2390 think he took it to stop any other auditors finding out what the place was, so 9 months down the line he could sit back and laugh at AB 😂😂
As someone who has had their banking and medical info leaked by employees I don't trust any of these business.
This is why you should never tell anybody nothing
Keep using that tinfoil hat to stay safe

4:45 just as a side note a lot of Whisky bonds (breweries) in Scotland used to use geese as sort of watch dogs as they get very noisy and aggressive when strangers get near their territory, also one of my uncles used to work as a groundsman at a cricket ground in England and they also used to use geese to help protect the place, so maybe thats why they have them here as yet another layer of protection
The 2:50 Grass Bank is what the Armoured Corps of the British Army call a Tank Trap. And the Brown tanks 9:04 by the Generators are fuel tanks for the generators. Shocked there are no Solar panels on site tho.
I'm intrigued by the main data center roof. Empty. Nothing. Like, all that investment, and they couldn't chuck some solar panels on that large flat space to supplement the massive amount of power consumption the site uses!?
It could be a very light tin roof that aids in the cooling of the building which in turn cannot support weight.
They could however of designed some sort of frame that sat on top of the building that could support the panels and associated services that come with them.
Possibly the panels would trap the heat but I don't know for sure.
A collection of architects, clients and principal contractors would of discussed this subject during the beginnings of the project, but we will likely never find out for sure their reasons.
Not very green, is it
@@bazsnell3178 oooh a typo! 😂😂😂
@@HighQualityAdventure It's a fairly well known thing in the datacenter world, a roof with nothing mounted on it means no holes for water intrusion, nothing mounted on the roof also means a lower risk of wind damage. They really do cover every possibility to protect the precious data inside.
I have heard that the cost of installing, upkeeping and maintaining solar panels on rooves is not worth the return in electricity. That's why there are thousands of massive warehouse rooves with no solar panels on them in the UK.
Security chap was brilliant.
Didn’t rise to the bait did he. Must’ve been disappointing for DJ.
As I work in I.T this is interesting, I have to go to a Data center in Fareham now and then and it has massive steel V shaped gates on the front to stop ram raids. You have to walk between the lines when your inside the DC.
I used to be part of a team that made frames for the computers for places like this. I cannot explain the scale of the endeavour but once a week special lorries would turn up to take the behemoths away and we were left wondering what sort of facility would house them.
I can see a time coming when companies like this can apply for restricted air space. It’s obvious why they’d want it, but currently, it’s tough!
Yes, not got to the end of the video yet but expecting future conversations as its not a restricted zone. 24 hours later its marked down as a no fly zone for 1000 feet+ to restrict all drones.
I think they need to worry about kids hacking theirs systems.
The drone regs are tough enough. More vids like this with low flying, and article 16 is gonna get revoked.
@@aireboat7988 dont be too concerned, aerial recon has been possible for many years before drones, sites have to keep an awareness of what can be seen outside. With the Open Skies military surveys even the military take care. And detailed satellite images can be purchased.
Should be impossible.
It just shows how important our Data is, already for the cashless society. Klaus Schwab will be pleased.

Geese are traditionally used on secure sites as they make a hell of a noise if someone intrudes/goes near them, idk if thats why they are there on that sight but maybe
I'm so glad you didn't disrupt the deer nest you could of frightened one of the fawns that hadn't developed wings good enough to fledge yet 💯

That place is amazing!
You can understand why it’s so important to protect.
My uncle used to design the security for places like this, must be so much fun planing it all from the ditches, moats and banks to the security fences, cameras etc etc !
Good work DJ.
The fortified design with multiple layers and the ditch is all very mediæval really. Tbh one look at this place (either on foot or google maps) and youd opt for an aerial assault, very little protection against that from what i could see.
They’ll be applying for airspace restrictions now as will most places with sensitive data etc
Security guy was very nice and respectful!
Although understandably conserved lol
He probably thought DJ was weird as fuck tbf. He didn't really want to talk to him because he wasn't really listening. Lol
There was somewhere you looked at very recently that had a lot of earth built up in an area close by. it looks very similar to this site, and might be something similar soon.
thankyou for not having "music" in the drone video. I prefer the wind noise!
This one is really interesting DJ, thanks for making it! Had no idea how prevalent these data centres are.
Awesome man, love your content, keep it going 👍
Polite, respectful, humerus and you know your stuff..... Bang on 😁
These installations don't have water fire sprinklers, fire suppression is by halon gas but as this is now banned it may have been replaced by more environmentally friendly gas fire suppressants like FE36 and Novec1230. Halon is extremely bad for the ozone layer. I would imagine Llyods have replaced it if it was originally installed.
I used to work in a hotel in London that had a Halon fire control system in the computer room. When operated, the Halon gas would take all the oxygen out of the room. Quenching the fire.
We had to work in there when the A/C failed. When it got to a certain temp, fire or not, the doors would lock and the Halon would discharge. Taking all the oxygen out of the room.
On my first day, my Foreman took me aside and said" If you have to do anything in in that room, jam a screwdriver in the the door". To be able to get out.
Peter Fedez, I wouldn't be here if not for him.
I used to do work at data centre's the layers of security continue once you get inside i.e. only access to where you need to go chaperones etc
a mate of mine (worked for BAe) had a visit to the skunk works , he had to wear a pole with a flashing light on it while he walked around the factory , I pissed my self when he told me
When you enter that building in the centre there are 5 rooms to traverse, each harder than the one before and in the last one are the real Boris party pics. That's why it was built.
When I lived in Corby I used to past this all the time when cycling in the country and always wondered what it was, the strangest thing is i don't remember it being built its like it just popped up over night
Brilliant!! The DAVID intro is back, it's all good DJ. Keep up the top work bro.
Thanks for a great vid. Fully understand the level of security there.
You definitely caught him sleeping, it was as if he just woke up as you said 🤣
As always very professional DJ a pleasure to watch 👍
You need to look at more wooden fences...
My fence front and rear has the same steel wire reinforcing. Its normal.
😆
Ha ha Old style security hidden ditches … great video as ever 🎉. I think they heard you telling us about your drone 😊
I’ve been watching your videos so much I feel like I’m auditing without a camera when I’m walking my dog 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 I love that!
Great video DJ, nice to see the roe deer, guess they are wondering why there land is been swallowed up by industrial areas.
Went looking for you today, i got close was about a mile from where you were, there is something very interesting not far from where you were, love the videos
Hey Dj You are a True legend going around interesting sites and in one video you mentioned that you had a full-time job so do this takes commitment to the course So thank you for taking time out to do this you are just a good humble guy so thank you 🙏
Hi yes my full time job is very flexible so when its quiet I can shoot off and get some videos. Very lucky. 👍
The raised bank with the steel reinforcement as cages behind it filled with stone, about 1mt cube, they are called Gabeon baskets
I would imagine that there's an underground passage for staff and that there was a basement working area in the building.
What about that suspicious piece of grass which is a different colour?
@@DJAUDITS That was a curious, regular, shape.
Maybe they are growing vegetables Haha
The security is hefty. As for an attack, they never store the entirety of a data package at one data centre like this, just small packets of data which are backed up elsewhere, even total destruction of the largest data centres wouldn’t lead to any loss of data in real terms. Scary stuff when you think of what AI may be capable of in future, indestructible
great pictures thanks dj.
Fantastic audit as always DJ mate! 👍
The security fella sounded like David Baddiel. Another great video dj thank you
DJ you done it again amazing drone survey shows just how valuable our data & cashless society has become
Nice security guard. Another good Audit DJ
Here from AB's new video, even though I need no introduction to DJ himself :) Love your channels and increasingly becoming a fan of PTTP as well.
I am very surprised they haven't geofenced that secure place, you have probably done them a favour 👏
I would not be surprised if there was a tunnel from the smaller building to the data centre as staff would be soaked in bad weather etc
Loved this DJ very interesting audit 👍
£5m on security and breached by a £500 Drone!
So are you saying that was a security breach?
@@landieman6044 i wouldnt consider this video a breach however the same kit could be used in one. Add an explosive payload and you could do some damage to shut the place down. If you could manage to fly it inside somehow you could maybe have a probe rigged to connect a malicious device to the servers.
I used to work at rockingham motor speedway and they had to put a fence around the campsite cos there's a lots deer in the evening and at night
Impressive place, massive site as well.
excellent video as usual DJ. You forgot to mention, or didn't notice the MASSAVE rocks / boulders at the latter part of the video, forming a barrier to stop vehicles from crashing the fences.
You are right!
Geese are better then Guard Dogs whentit comes to Intruders or predators, they sound the alarm flock together & go towards whatever has alarmed them.
Thanks for doing that DJ
I'm never as nice and polite when I'm waking up as that security chap was.
Great as always DJ!
A brilliant audit - I tuned in for DJ and got Sir David Attenborough. Excellent content and narrative.
This drone footage is pure fried gold.
dj audits wow that is just amazing i have so many questions
@DJ Audits: I see, in most of your videos; especially, the "DAVID" drone shots; there's a distinct lack of solar panels for the renewal energy; so many open, semi flat roof tops, no Solar Panels.. such a wasted opportunity!
If the return was so good, don't you think every warehouse would be covered in them.
It shouldnt be about return on investment though. As it stands yeah its not really much of a moneymaker outside massive farms. However if you made every building like this install pv across the country we would have a much larger % of used energy from renewables and would be able to reduce / turn off output from coal fired plants currently still in use. Sometimes the environmental benefits should outweigh if it personally makes you money.
A data centre outage could severely impact the the UK which is why they are so secure. It’s more than just your average Joe that it would affect
The Purple units are HCFC coolant systems, specifically for Integrated Circuitry cooling.
Excellent clip. Well presented!
A guy with a grudge and a jcb digger would flatten that place in 20 minutes
Im almost convinced that that data centre , has more to it than meets the eye . I see lots of covers and the grass the way it is cut leads me to believe the “centre” itself, from what you can see is like an iceberg. What you see, the building and the grounds is only a small part of what is underneath. I bet there is a bunker or some sort of underground facility beneath the complex .. I’m probably wrong but with all the covers all over the yard suggests to me there is more going on than what we can see
I would have loved to do weekly fly overs with the drone when this place was being constructed. If anyone knows of a similar place which is being built right now then please email me and I will go and get some footage djaudits@gmail.com
I've worked in a few SOC(s), I can tell you that most of those grates with have nothing underneath them.
Its just one more security measure, to reduce the risk of people tracing the routes key utilities take
@@DJAUDITS probably not going to find many being built like this. Lloyds seem a nit paranoid. Many data centres are even just built looking like any standard warehouse and in normal industrial parks much like many other businesses you visit. If you want to look at another datacentre thats rated to government levels of security and with some interesting design and history id sugest trying to take a look at the bunker located on the former raf greenham common just outside newbury.
Nice job......... especially the drone shots from mini 2
I'd be more worried about clever kids who love computers, hacking into their systems. It's always the kids.
That was a lovely shot of the deer DJ .
More cameras than a prison!!!
Great work - I think the intercom operator (security staff) was perhaps not paying as much attention as he was making out !
Didn't Lloyds mess up a few year's ago and release a deployment that was irreversible which took down their internet banking? Shame they don't put the attention they put here onto their own engineering practices
Cleaner pulled the plug out to use the vacuum and forgot to plug it back in. After many hours the tea boy/girl plugged it back in whilst all the smart people tried and failed to find fixes. :)
I'd like to see you fly over a castle / stately home - English Heritage and the National Trust seem to think they can tell you not to fly drones there, they even have nice webpages with lots of not quite correct information about it 😄
I found this page because I wantd to laugh at people who think they have airspace control. Would love to see him do this. There's just something ridiculously hilarious about someone who works an 8 hour job at a gate believing they have full control over the local airspace and all air traffic. It makes me bust myself with laughter
EH and NT ban you from using their land for take off and landing. You can overfly if you comply with the regs and provided you don't disturb or interfere with them.
Auditors often say that people don't own the airspace over their property. That's incorrect, low flying can amount to trespass. In fact DJ in this vid comes down too low.
@@aireboat7988 NT's blurb mentions their own bylaws prevent drones at all, but the actual bylaw is just talking about filming for commercial reasons. And yes - agree that anything below the highest structure on the land could definitely count as trespass.
@@brianserious I'd say this is actually a grey area, and probably one that's not well policed either. At the time of flight, DJ is flying recreationally, not commercially. Nobody is paying him to do it, and he isn't necessarily going to do anything with the video. At some point he may decide to upload those videos to CZcams. He does this for free, and the content of the video earns him no revenue. He can however monetise the video and earn revenue from ads, but that doesn't mean the video itself is commercial. I'm unaware of this ever having played out in a court, probably because the probability of a win against the operator is low.
Data centre lloyds horizon it’s on the Internet
That is a small Datacentre, you should see the NSA's largest one ;)
I’d sit a watch you channel all day I’d love to do something like this in Ireland
Nah the reo etc on the edge of the ground you saw wouldn't be for ram raids rather to hold the weight of the wet soil (IT'S HEAVY) and stop erosion/failure.

The solar panels probably maintain a battery bank that kicks in within microseconds if the main electrical supply fails, until minutes later big generators are running at speed, and/or maintain a big starter battery bank for big diesel generators.
Amazing security.
Another great video. All I’m going to say is line of sight.
Excellent DJ 😁👍❤️🇬🇧
The security guy gave away more information than he should have when he said “don’t want to give away our blind spots” as he’s just said that they do indeed have blind spots. Instead he should have said “are you trying to see if we have a blind spot”.
Bits and bobs I believe is how it would be said in the UK.
Lol at the sleepy security guard. 😂
Blind spots; back of eyelids.
Awesome tour and narration of the details. On the google map aerial, the parked pickup at 8:10 is a few feet closer to the edge but otherwise similar to the drone footage. Nice the security guard respected that you stayed on your side of the fence and he stayed on his side.
The deer looked suspicious running for cover, may be tunneling under the perimeter fence.
Deer will just jump over that fence.
I'd have thought that the main threat would come from a cyber attack not a physical attack. Makes me wonder if anything else is stored there.
Exactly and good point.
There could be up to 2,688,636 1U servers in a high tier data center and a high end server can cost between $5,000 to over $20,000. Nowhere near its weight in gold but well above the cost of other precious metals and stuff. Likely worth more than physical monies or items held at banks.
They could do with building places like this but with the defences built facing in to hold the dinghy brigade until they're shipped off to Rwanda. A much more sensible option than using Tax payers money to house them in hotels.
DJ, can private company's apply to have the air space above their premises made to be a no fly home? So for example could this Lloyds apply for a no fly home do you know?
Hi, yes but the CAA have strict rules.
They would need a really tall fence to prevent camera zoom Haha
Inside it be a very large open area, with one little table with one new M1 cpu'ed Apple iPad running as a web and data server. 🤣🤣
As a Lloyds customer it’s great to see them taken my data protection seriously, Lloyds should be thanking you for this video

The wildlife and deer are great, very eco friendly. But where there are deer like that there will be ticks waiting in the long grass! Beware when walking and taking dogs. The water would be cooling, fire safety would be with inert gas, not water, to protect the expensive electronic hardware.
The bloke on the intercom sounded stoned
