In this my new video of Overwatch 2 you can see a cutscene of the Invasion DLC, this new update for the game introduces 3 new story mod missions.
This Overwatch reinhardt meets bastion scene was recorded, played and edited completely by me, the video is taken from the PS5 version of the game by Activision Blizzard.
In this video you can see the moment of the story mode in which reinhardt meets Bastion, one of the last robots employed on the front lines at the time of the devastating Omnic Crisis.
Abandoned in a dormant state after the devastating Omnic Crisis, this particular Bastion unit has awakened to a changed world. The once hostile machine is now curious and fascinated by nature.
Along with his pet bird, Ganymede, Bastion has placed himself in the care of Torbjörn Lindholm, with whom he works to help the humans he once fought against.

But overall I'll apologize on nickwen2881's behalf for being mad still that he/she got falsely advertised about OW2 by blizzard who then Microtransactions the whole game to oblivion. When someone showed me this game I thought I was looking at a new Electronic Arts IP.
It was the main selling point of the game. I'm not even a big Overwatch fan, I just watch the cinematics, but people are right to be mad.

I mean, it's a 7 foot, angry-looking bearded man charging with a huge hammer on his hand. I'd be raising my cannon too.
The thing is.
1. Bastion backed away first and looked afraid, the other Siege bots kinda just.. sat there and got mowed down whenever people were capable of fighting back properly against them
2. Reinhardt is like a 6 foot bearded German man in a mech suit with a rocket hammer, that's absolutely terrifying-
Reindhardts anger is perfectly justifiable. I sure would be pissed about someone taking care of the very thing that took part in killing my loved ones.
I wonder if he'll have a similar reaction to Orisa, if they ever meet.

I like that Torbjorn recognises that Brigitte is grown up and is willing to pass the torch to her but he’s underestimating himself. He’s definitely got more left to give.
It’s not that he’s underestimating himself, it’s that his duty now is of a father, he can’t just getup and leave them, it wouldn’t be right.
Yet he stills calls her sparkplug.😂
Least Torb will be contacting them or if things get ugly, he’ll come help.

Torb....Reinhardt literally watched his friends and mentor get mowed down by these EXACT MODELS OF OMNICS in the Old War, that kind of PTSD is NOT something you just get over...

I don't know if this was intentional or not... But I loved it. I think it shows Overwatch sending their regards to TF2, considering that it's the game that started it all.

I don't know what annoys me more, the plot calling Rein an asshole for having that perfectly reasonable PTSD fueled response to seeing Bastion or how he snapped out of it by just being told to get with the times bro.
yeah. it was bastions and or-15s took his eye, killed his friends and his mentor. he's lost so many friends in the war. his soldiers mowed down by the exact model of bastion. he's the last crusader (from what I know).
and it just expected to be fine. he's an old war vet with ptsd. of course he's gonna respond like that.

Torb's reaction to Rein's anger is so weird here. He doesn't give Rein any heads up that one of the most dangerous machines he faced during the Crisis that allegadely killed over a billion people was just chilling in his workshop. ESPECIALLY with Null Sector running around, there's no telling what machines are compromised at this point. The "The only one who hasn't changed is you" line is particularly irritating. Imagine telling that to a war veteran after you revealed there was like a Nazi commander at your house or something.
Uh, didn’t Torb fight in the war as well? It’s fair to say that if he was able to put his own feelings aside and give Bastion a chance, he can expect his oldest friend to do so as well?
Torb fought alongside Rein in the war…so, your comment makes no sense. Torb just put his emotions aside and grew from it. Holding onto resentment is not healthy.

reinhardt only just saw bastion. and the last time he saw one. he was at war. a war he lost his friends, mentor and more. he hadn't gotten to know bastion. so all he could see was the machine that took so much from him.
@@halfknight2310 Exactly, the appropriate thing to do if you were Torb would be to A: Tell Rein ahead of time he had discovered a Bastion that was friendly and not hostile and likely didn't have its memories, and B: Ask Rein if he would still be comfortable around it. Give Rein some time to process this information rather than reveal in the middle of an active war. For all any of them know, Bastion could have been hacked and compromised by Null Sector. There is evidence that Rein doesn't really see Omnics as living beings, but it's wild that no one tries to talk to him about it and then acts surprised when the guy who watched this mentor die to Omnics get antsy when fucking Omnics are suddenly right in from of him in the middle of a war against Omnics
I remember when I was playing this mission as Bastion and getting a whole lot of kills as well as killing one or the artillery bots, and Reinhardt was like "I don't think I like this Bastion. He's stealing all the glory!"

Yeah he simply saw too much battles, death and wounded in the Omnic Crisis (aka WW3). Can't blame the man for being uneasy and tense around omnics today.

I would say reinhardt acting this way us perfectly normal for a war vet I mean I heard so many ww2 vets being extremely on edge when they were around German and Japanese and same for them when it came to Americans and British as well great character trait for reinhardt.
Reind was the only one with his head on straight in this entire story event. XD

For real. Torb's asking Rein to keep Bastion alive, and not a word or worry about Brig being okay.
You know, if they didn't scrap the PVE and force me to switch to Overwatch 2 it would have been a great game.
Gonna be honest rein was way to quick to trust bastion like his entire life was dramatically changed by them and his mentor killed obviously bastion is good but idk how to feel about rein trusting bastion so quickly
He is a warrior through and through. If you fight with him you earn respect, and in the fight bastón probably saved or had his back
Hes a knight, if you fight by his side and prove yourself then he will accept you. Its the nature of Rein. He is quick to judge but he know hes flawed aswell.
I mean he could just be putting a happy face to look good, he probably isnt 100% on board with the idea of him on the team, but can see that he could change his mind about it and that Bastion is a valuable asset to the team
It's not within a matter of these two cutscenes, there's a whole mission in between. Every step of the way is a chance for Bastion to prove either he's a threat or a companion, which is what allows Reinhardt to trust him.
For starters, this isn’t just an animatic like most others, this is a cutscene from the video game itself, from one of their missions. From these 2 clips, you only see the start and the end, with the middle being the gameplay itself.
Secondly, Rein is a warrior and knight first and foremost, which is why his first instinct was to go on the offensive and put himself in front of bastion when they first meet. This applies to every aspect of being a warrior and knight, and in those times blood was way thicker than water, meaning that they formed bonds and friendships with the people they fought in battle with, and in the mission Bastion is there risking its own life to fight off against its own kind to protect Torb because Torb helped him, and protected Rein too.
Third, it’s a video game with no story mode (which is part of why I stopped playing it), meaning that they can’t do multiple arcs to push that trust over a long period of time, so movie and video game shortcuts is that you do so in a moment, where lives are on the line and stakes are at an all time high.
In the end, I could see Rein opening up more to bastion after it proved itself in combat. Now I do agree that some lines were corny and that he was too buddy buddy with it, but I feel that it’s reasonable that Rein at least trusts bastion to some degree now.
Rein has every reason to be furious and violent in this situation. Fighting a war for years and losing lived ones to that model of killing machine and your first instinct to protect your lived one's and kill those things is perfectly valid.
Reinreinhardt is my favorite character. True believer in defending/protecting and will do anything. It is his true calling. You can also see the damage he holds by his instant reaction and willingness to fight but also see how he is trying to be a better man after the loss of his friend in the past. Exceptional character development and the emotions delivered by the actor is spot on.
They really need to make some overwatch movies.
Reinhardt is right to question bastion. we saw in his cinematic that he was ready to follow his directive, and die, as the last bastion, but only the bird turned him away from it. without the bird, who knows what bastion is capable of?
I mean it wasn't thinking properly and saw his friends all dead. The bird gave him some well needed clarity

Also i believe bastion helped fight alongside rein to save the place. might be why rein was cool with bas in the end
Yeah that's exactly what happened. These cutscenes are at the start and end of one of story missions. In the gameplay Bastion fights alongside Rein, Torb and Brig to protect Torbs workshop. Rein comes to respect bastion because Bastion risked his life fighting his own kind to protect the people they both care about.

I like the idea of rein getting ptsd as soon as he sees bastion. You can see his face drop as soon as he walks in.
If they ever decide to go into film or shows, they may have a chance.
It's amazing to notice the character development of Rein from Honor and Glory short to the Rein from these cuts scenes.
That's one of the biggest why we need an animated show of Overwatch so badly. I want to see these characters development to the ones we see in the current in-game storyline!🙏🏿

It was the power cannon in torbs workshop, which we had to defend when Null sector attacked. It was because of that cannon the titan was destroyed
@@midnightmelony7840 dam, so far from feats. The 1st titan from the cinematic was destroyed internally by Mei backpack with the pulse bomb (i think) but the cost is mei losing the backpack, second was destroyed because it was hit in the charged up chest beam by Torb cannon which was at full power.

People are saying that it makes sense Rein attacks him because his friends and family died to his kind, and that makes sense. But Bastion himself has PTSD because you killed *his* kind and now he’s just seen as a threat.
So, I’m on both sides here.
Bastions' PTSD is legitimately programmed into him. In his Cinematic for OW1, Bastion goes ballistic at just hearing sounds of what it thinks is gunfire and thus levels an entire forest.
Torbjorn is flat out stupid for not warning Rein that a E54 unit is in his possession and is being 'rehabilitated'.
It's even worse considering in the past, Torbjorn was shown earlier being neglectful of Bastion when it showed up, as he didn't trust it either.
The writing is just very cheesy.
Honestly, they should stop making games and make an OverWatch TV show, that would be so fire

I'm not a player so I got to ask, if Bastion and Reinhardt were on the same team in the first game... what's up with this reaction/meeting in the second game?
Technically in the first game, Bastion is 100% neutral. Like Junkrat and Hog.
He's not part of OW nor is he part of Talon or anything resembling a team.
He's a lost E54 unit now gone rogue and sentient, leaning to the good side easily due to its new found appreciation for "life".
Chances are, Bastion would've been recommended to Zenyatta by Genji or the like had he had met the OW team in OW1. There's voice lines between Bastion and Zen, and Bastion and Orisa, that not enlignten us as to its new found moral alignment, but also it's curiosity.
Bastion is clearly written to be the Innocent good guy with a Big Gun type of trope. A child like friend with a dark past.
In OW1, Winston sends out the call to reform the Overwatch group.
But in OW2, the timeline BARELY advances as it's simply the group finally responding to Winston's call from OW1. There's literally no real progress in OW1 plot wise.
im mostly weirded out by how reinhardt was defending an omnic being molotov'd in the 2016 release trailer but just becomes omnic-racist again for the shitty campaign because they realized they have nothing else to do with his character
imagine if they spent the time doing this stuff rather than trying to shove insane marketplace features into the game.

Well today is my first time seeing these cutscenes ya Rien was totally un the right to react that way towards bastion after all it was a machine created for war to kill and wipe out humanity and torbs whole claim of"That was a life time ago"is bs cause uprising was less than a decade ago for them and bastion units were used than as well and with null sector running around and with his past history with bastion units its obvious that he would immediately try to neutralize what he sees and has been trained to see as a threat for like 4 decades and honestly the fact he warms up to him so fast is just kinda weird cause 4 decades if thinking that these bots are your enemies just for him to be okay with him in like less than a day is strange
