I slammed my Phantom 2 vision into a metal fence. Broke two motor mounts and cracked the shell. So far so good with my Mini 2, Mavic Pro Platinum, DJI FPV. But I do not fly much.
I have encountered many Asian Black Kite birds of prey. Similarly, I have learned a few counter measures. Fly up not down. They can not climb as fast as a drone. Once on top re-acquire the bird. It will turn left or right and go into a circular pattern. Yaw left or right and fly sideways facing the bird on the opposite of the pattern. This is less of a threat to them as that is what they do to each other for fun. Be sure you are higher than the mountain peaks below. Most of the birds around here have become familiar with my drone and no longer feel threatened by it. Purposely chasing the bird forces them to make sudden and unpredictable moves. This is dangerous for the bird and your drone. I found that they are more curious about drones and sometimes they are just checking you out. However, they are nesting animals and more than likely if you are attacked, climb high, put your drone into sports mode and leave. If they are simply defending their nest they will not follow. However, if they think your drown is breakfast, lunch or dinner, the worst thing you can do is show fear. I normally raise altitude and keep flying normal in sport mode. It's no challenge to them if your not afraid but if you panic, that's exactly what prey does. You might get plucked out of the sky. Also never let them get behind you. They often attack from the back. Do a 180 and fly backwards. I've gotten some pretty cool shots as they approach. But it startles them a lot when you suddenly climb and counter forward. That's when they realize they are out matched and bug out.
I'm sorry but I keep coming back to this, that final shot is absolutely mind blowing probably the best drone shots I've ever seen. You deserve an award for this

Always go UP and Fast for quite a ways and then fly away! Birds can't fly up fast, only down. They usually loose interest if you fly up and away and then get away and fly back to your home point.

I had a similar encounter but with a Mini 2 instead of a Mavic 3 Cine and a hawk instead of an eagle. Unfortunately for me, the hawk knocked my poor Mini 2 out of the sky. It was fine minus a few scratches and some broken props but It was terrifying.
Quite the encounter for sur but at the same time! Hey the eagle gave you content haha! 😅 battle scars for Mavic 3! Talk about turning the tables too, now you are the hunter!
I have often seen birds get interested in my Mavic Mini 2, but I always try to fly away as soon as I see them. I'd imagine if the eagle were to grab my 249g drone, it would not live to tell the tale!

awesome vid, here in Australia same happened to me on the beach and I literally shit myself when I was trying to get away from the eagle chasing my drone as it was on my line of sight, eagles can fly super fast but Mavic 3 behaved like a champion
recommend put it on sport so it will be faster, and I have a drone it’s a air2s but i crash it and when that happend I go back home and get a phantom 4 haha.
I flying with white-bellied sea eagle and red hawk several times but they never attack my drone. Maybe your drone is the way too close to they nest and their baby. Fly over 90 meters from the ground is illegal here in Thailand.
No joke here. Police can check your log fly, there some drone pilots who fly higher than 90 meters altitude were charged by 2,500 usd.( about 820 usd. per time) after they see those clip in social media. Also Phi Phi island is the area responsibility by National Park that mean you have to have permit for fly (by law). It’s ok if Thai police don’t see your clip, if not it means a lot of money to pay.

My mini2 came across a sparrow, had to kick it into sport mode and get some distance.

BEST way to get away from Birds that Attack your Drone is to go Straight UP. They can not do that,
