- I used my 1979 Yamaha SG500 on this cover of the Stiff Little Fingers classic "Alternative Ulster", from their 1979 album Inflammable Material.
I've included tab and chord diagrams in the video so that you can get playing this legendary Punk Rock song asap. I tried to play the parts as Jake played them back in the day. I used a Marshall JTM45, with a Klon, setting on my Kemper for hopefully what is a reasonably accurate sound for the era.
1979 was a great time to be getting into music - loud guitars everywhere. From the NWOBHM to the frenetic sounds of bands like SLF. I'm a big fan.
I thought I would resurrect "Punk Rock Sunday" with this fine song.

I remember these guys from my time in Ireland. Dave Fanning used to play all the good stuff late at night, my poor aunt and uncle (RIP both) had many sleepless nights with me listening to their old AM valve set. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for this Dunsy 🙏 Inflammable Material is a contender for the greatest punk album of all time in my opinion. I’ve never tried playing any of their songs before but now I’ll have to give this a go. I’ll look forward to more Punk Rock Sundays. Excellent work sir 👌
