- "At the Edge" is from Stiff Little Fingers' 1980 album "Nobody's Heroes".
I double tracked my guitar, panned left and right on this one, over the original studio track.
The guitar is a 1979 Yamaha SG500 - I'm loving this guitar!
The Kemper patch was a Michael Britt Marshall TM45, which seems perfect for the sound of this fine song.

Yep.. I went and chugged a second cup of coffee for this... I think it worked... I never got into the punk music of that era, but being 5 years younger than my brother.. I heard it loudly every day after school :))
Yeah, I'd been coffee'd up before this one! SLF were definitely one of the most popular punk outfits here in the UK during that time. Love them.

Done: 1974 Yamaha SG-70, cherry red, scratch to f**k but plays beautifully.

I guess it’s that late 70’s early 80’s timeframe of when I first realised that guitar was what I wanted to do - I just needed that loud guitar, lol 😂. Funny, when I was going through this one the other day I realised that when I first tried to play it way back then that I hadn’t mastered moving between chords, so I just played Jakes vocal melody on the top 2 strings. Crazily enough I can also still play the melody of Enola Gay on the top strings too 😂

Top draw Dunsy 👍 there's something about some punk songs that just get the adrenaline flowing, that rebellious feeling of two fingers up at the establishment and without getting to political is kind of where we are right now. What a great time to start a new Punk movement!
Cheers George - yeah Jake was an angry young man, for sure. You can hear that passion in the music. That's one of the things about being that age and being in a band, you feel like you need to and can change the world. I'd have a wee go these days, but only if I can do it over Skype. With my slippers on 😂

He's most definitely annoyed about something, that's for sure, Randy, lol. I guess that's one of the things when you're young, to rail against something you don't agree with. These days it's the best I can do to get up off the couch to switch off the tv! i can remembe first hearing slf on a compilation album when i was about 13 it had this on, and fly the flag , i loved the songs but felt guilty because i didnt understand fly the flag , i thought they were some nationalist band lol , it wa syears later i bought my first slf album , it was the live one hanx and its still a fave , cheers dunsy great stuff
