I've tried this and here's a tip : don't use toothpicks and styrofoam to hold the balloons. Spray balloon with oil, dip in gelatin, and use double sided tape to hold the balloon upright in a muffin tin. The mold comes out perfectly and doesn't stick.

So for each little muffin/cupcake slot, half of the piece of tape was inside the slot and half was outside, secured to the flat part of the pan for leverage. Double-sided tape of course. Don't grease that part of the tin and use a thick/long piece of tape. When the balloons are done, that part will be the bottom of the globe.
