      Yeah, that’s a vault that only a very small group of men can do. I know that she’s just doing it into the foam pit right, but still. Unbelievable.
      Edit: Actually, the YDT 1/1 doesn’t exist in MAG. The closer comparable fault is that the Ri Se-Gwang I, which is a full-twisting Tsukahara double tuck. That would be considered harder than the YDT 1/1 in WAG, but the YDT 1/1 and the TDT 1/1 would get the same DV in MAG.

      I agree, but Simone is not upgrading (if that is what she is planning to do) to advance her ability to win or dominate per se, she does these things BECAUSE SHE CAN. She has these words( I instead of She) tattooed on her upper chest as a reminder. It is important I believe to Simone to be able to push herself because she has achieved just about all there is to achieve in the sport and not much else is left. I know she BADLY wants to win the BEAM OLYMPIC title and so that is the only apparatus where her upgrading is definitely to advance her chances as it is the one where she will receive the STIFFEST challenge. Everywhere else her present routines will be good enough including vault. The reality is, if Simone lands on her feet in a vault final, the win is practically hers whereas on beam, the Chinese have the difficulty and execution to best her best.

    • @Plaspos

      I think the problem in Tokyo was the Russians who had been way behind the team in 2019, showed up that whole year looking incredible. The USA also had less depth in 2021 compared to 2016. For Simone it added a lot of pressure because the only other American gymnast on the level of the Russians was Suni. Plus Tom Forster was putting a lot of pressure on her too.
      this time around there’s a lot more depth and the closest team (Brazil) isn’t challenging like the Russians were. And individually I don’t think Simone feels a lot of pressure that she has to defeat Andrade.
      But also take that all with a grain of salt because most of these clips are just messing around. The only skill I am somewhat confident she’ll bring back is the triple double on floor

    • @aliciamcdonald7105
      @aliciamcdonald7105 Před 6 měsíci +9

      But if you were all paying attention to Simone, she was showing signs of stress BEFORE Tokyo. After the last US competition, the girl was LITERALLY crying her eyes out and was very emotional. I think there were more than one contributor to Simone's state of mind in Tokyo but NOTHING to do with 'new skills' . I mean the triple double she was performing since 2019 a whole two years before Tokyo (2021) and her bringing new skills to the Olympics was NOTHING NEW. It is what she did BEFORE Rio and before EVERY MAJOR international competition.
      Simone herself has alluded to some of the issues that contributed to her mental state in Tokyo, one of which was indeed the pressure of being the one to "ensure TEAM USA wins the gold" but that in and of itself would not have broken her if not for the other issues, the Larry Nassar horror, her impending testimony before the US Senate Judiciary about it, the lack of physical support of her parents during the games, the games being postponed, all contributed to her mental breakdown. Yet as I said, signs of emotional distress were evident WELL BEFORE Tokyo.

      Simone is a risk taker not someone who takes the "easy" way. She's won many medals and at her age it's about challenging yourself & not allowing medal counts to matter more than pushing yourself. She's the GOAT even if she didn't even go to Paris.
