Amy, the words "my beloved trowel" touched my heart. I'm also a former field archaeologist, I worked 10 seasons in Israel. Our crew had a storage facility where we stored our things until the next season - including my beloved trowel! Sadly, I was not able to return. Even though I can't dig anymore, I do still miss my trowel!

  • @trampertravels

The tunnels are probably part of the quarry that was used to build the fortress and chateau, likewise the cellar would be constructed in the upper part of the quarry, this minimises the distance the stone has to be moved. When you worked on the well the water table was relatively high, so the tunnels could be full of water. A fine example of a quarry under a building is Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and it's crypt, also around the Cathedral is a burial ground created in the surface area of the outer quarry.

There may be another way of finding the tunnels. If you put in your address into Google maps and bring up the chateau, it will show you where you are etc, but there's some other map reference to go over the top of the existing one and it should show you what is underneath. I wish I knew what it was that others have been using to find ancient cities that are buried beneath our feet. I'll see if I can find it via Paul Cook's CZcams channel. It's absolutely fascinating.

Did you think about renting or hiring a GPR (Ground-Penetrating Rada) unit? They are often used in cemeteries to find unmarked graves. They are also used a lot by archaeologists now, as well. It should not cost that much to go around the chateau with one to determine if there are any buried structures or underground voids. Or, you could have contacted a "dowser" (water witch) to see if they could find any cellar entrances. They often work for free as long as their traveling expenses are paid/gifted. And a small gift of money or other items are nice to give them in return for their work. But most authentic dowsers do not ask for compensation.

I just found your channel, and you've ignited my curiosity. I love a good mystery! I'll be following your adventures from now on as you search for the mysterious tunnels.
To that end, in looking at the infamous photo, I believe that the vent is directly within the wall of the building, unless I'm very much mistaken. That means that perhaps you should be probing the wall itself; you should be able to assess exactly where that vent is based upon the position of the bricks around it.
    Best of luck!

You have a big job ahead of you. There is an instrument that can find caves. You might find a geologist who works for the state or country and may find maps have already been done. I believe some surveys were done after the war.

I’m sure I’ve heard of a gadget you can use to take sort of ultrasound type pictures of your land so you can see what lies underground.

Ground penetrating radar. Very expensive unless you can persuade a university to try. And had some limitations.

I love how the pig is coming around, seeming to ask: „so is this a group activity? Or are you hogging all the fun from the actual hog around here?“

Who is doing the filming for this? Looks like professional filming. Is this a tv crew for channel 4?

Ha ha - not channel four but our young videographer will be really pleased to hear your comment. He’s a wedding photographer we’ve employed to do a few of our videos since we never seemed to have the time to do the filming and editing. Details are all in the description of the video.

Hi, There is a chinese traditional medicine brand called FUSION, . You can get a product call COUGH LUNG TONIC. It has performed some impressive results. I have tried other items in that range and they too did well for us. Hope that is of interest and maybe help. Ps Keep up the good mission.

That’s really helpful thank you. I’m a big fan of TCM but have usually had it prescribed by an acupuncturist.
