If you are hunting for the first time, you should go with a veteran hunter who can let you know the ins and outs about it. Never go out with a hunting rifle l.. make sure you know what your doing!

A couple of local boys thought it would be fun to hunt it. They shortly realized they had made a poor decision when the rest of the local boys started hunting them. I don't know what happened to them exactly, but they left town and the area in a hurry. They don't even come back to visit family.
Then someone ended up hitting it with their car while driving drunk. The hart wasn't killed, but was hurt and vets (wildlife veterinarians) found him and and were able to help him. The driver was persona non grata anywhere in the area and couldn't get served at any drinking establishment after that.
I am from WV. That stuff doesn't fly there.

I haven't heard this in a long time.
I can't tell if the author doesn't know how hunting works, or only wrote the character that way.
Its a hell of a lot more disrespectful to leave a corpse to decompose then eat it. That's one of the most disrespectful things you can do to a hunted animal. At that point you killed it for no reason, eating it makes its sacrifice worth something.
And thats not even mentioning the legality of it.
I agree with you mostly, but you don't kill a white hart in the first place unless you are starving to death.
In real life, I agree, but I feel like the writer did a good job of explaining why they shouldn't have eaten it. It's obviously written as a supernatural creature. Literally says its "Outside the natural order..."
I think since it was a story the real world hunting aspects can be overlooked. If anything they should have given it a proper burial and prayers, cleansing, tribute, virginal sacrifice and such.

Hunters examine the animal before they shoot, so they actually know what their shooting. Good hunters anyways.
At around 3:40 they covered the deer and didn't eat it, then at 11:40 it says "she at some of it too". Unless I missed somewhere in the the story where it may imply they ate some I don't know. I listened 3 times to see if I missed something. But, I still enjoyed the story and the narration. Though I have never seen an albino deer other than a zoo, it is always illegal to kill them.
The emotion in your readings is stunning, it truly adds to the story

They traditionally in Anishanabe ( my spelling of the tribe is bad - sounds like An ish an ah be sounded out) telling don't have animal head, internet stuff made that up, it's an emaciated tall human that consumes all but never is able to be satiated/ feel full, it immediately takes on the increased hight that and size that makes the one consumed fill not the whole belly but instead only a portion of it, they throw voices, some say it's a way to simply warn and teach against greed though, because when greed has a hold of you, you too become unable to get enough to fill you up. This is wendigo. Now you know lol.

The brother became a Wendigo. They are known to distort the world around their prey in order to better discombobulate them. They enjoy playing with prey before killing them.
Excellent reading with a lot of feeling (something some people who read these things don't always have.) I must say that people like you, Lighthouse, Mr. Creep, Mr. Freaky and more have inspired me to read stories like these and post them to a channel (maybe a new one, don't know.) I'm already recording "Grad Night at the Haunted Mansion." I'm not sure when it will be posted, but hopefully eventually. And you guys have given me some great stories to possibly read. It could get me noticed by someone and lead to a lucrative career (hell, look at Brian Hull 😊.)

They really don't have reality warping powers. Wendigos are spirits of eternal hunger that can possess those who engage in cannibalism. They don't possess people who eat sacred deer.
