Ricardo accepted the challenge to create a version of his video about the PMBOK® Guide 7th Ed in 10 minutes.
Understand one of the most relevant standards adopted in project management globally: The PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition, published by PMI (Project Management Institute).
I first created this type of video in 1998 when I was studying for my PMP exam.
Since then, I decided to publish this type of video to help professionals who work on projects understand the Guide and lose fear or prejudice about its content or format.
In the video, I use a canvas that you can download for free at rvarg.as/pmbok7canvas in English and several other languages.

THANK YOU!!! I couldn’t get past the table of contents for the PMBOK 7 because I couldn’t understand the structure. It didn’t help that the course I am taking is based on the 5th/6th edition. Great and very simple to grab as information thanks Ricardo, it's quite hard to move from 6th edition to the 7th edition when every activity is described to find more recommendations on how to behave rather on how to-do things its has more sens in terms of advisory than guidance, 10 good minutes

Hello Ricardo, I worked for several years as an engineering design consultant in large design consulting companies. I am writing a book based on the PMBOK applied to engineering design for construction works. structure it based on the 6th edition; but now i refocus it on the 7th edition. Your explanations have helped me to refocus. I would like to do the course. I signed up but it doesn't reach my email or inbox or spam. I write from Colombia. Great video Ricardo. For someone looking to write the exam in July/August should he focus solely on PMBOK7 or reading the PMBOK6 is also required?
Yes, you must complement the study of the PMBOK 7th Edition Guide with the PMBOK 6th Edition Guide or another methodology that is more suited to the projects you work with. Happy studying and good luck.
So we are looking at the Project Management stack? This is the framework from which you approach Project Management.
Layer 1: PMBOK 7 edition (Principles & Performance Domains)
Layer 2: Pick a Methodology(s)
Layer 3: Industry/Project type
Example: To run through the above with a tech company producing software (layer 3). I might need to use a blended approach for methodology, say agile and waterfall (layer 2). Lastly, no matter what approach I take, layer 1's core principles will always apply.
Note: new to Project Management, not yet done any courses.
Hi Graham. Your approach is interesting. I would say that the concept of the layers you just presented makes sense. Layer 1 applies to all types of projects, layer 2 is your delivery approach and layer 3 is a project specific setup.
Good analogy for someone new to PM. Happy to see that. You will go far! 🚀
