Formation Low Approach at Frankfurt Airport (EDDF)

- Before heading home to our families on Christmas Eve 2018 we decided to end the year with a little formation flight out of Herrenteich, our home airport (ICAO code: EDEH). Knowing that the Christmas days are the lowest in traffic volume at the major airports, we wanted to try our luck and see if we could get a low approach at Germany's biggest airport: Frankfurt Main (ICAO code: EDDF). And thanks to the nice controllers at Langen FIS and Frankfurt Tower it worked beautifully!
It ended up as a flight of four aircraft, led by me in my Cessna 140 from 1947. Full list:

Wirklich sehr toll!
Habt ihr während der Formation in Eddf irgendwie untereinander kommuniziert? Oder nur zugehört?
Das lief alles ohne interne Kommunikation ab. Allerdings hatten wir bis auf einen Flieger immer eine Quasselfrequenz auf Dual Watch. Im Zweifel hätten wir uns da nochmal absprechen können.
Bei so einer Aktion ist Briefing alles. Wir hatten vorher gründlich besprochen wer wo in der Formation fliegt, wie schnell wir fliegen (wichtig bei unterschiedlichen Fliegern in der Formation) und was in Notfällen zu tun ist. Damit hatte dann nur noch ich als Formation Lead den Stress. Der Rest musste nur hinterherfliegen ;-).

Freut mich. In der aktuellen Lage bietet sich so eine Aktion ja an. War in den letzten Wochen mehrmals mit Flugschülern in Frankfurt, Stuttgart und München erfolgreich.
