That’s ok. I was the only white girl in my school. Everyone else was black, but I didn’t really care. Race never mattered to me. Its ok to stand out :)

The two best dancers in my classes are black AND sisters! They are very inspirational for me. I’m so glad to be in class with them❤

There are some wrong aspects to this clip. Firstly, for such a short feature, confidence was as expected, barely discussed. Secondly, being focused on just one thing (“ballet is my oxygen”) is not healthy for the average viewer. Additionally, the approach to criticism is contradicting itself because it was not well expounded: one dancer says that criticism pushes her to improve herself, and another says that you cannot please everyone. A more healthy approach would be: I filter criticism and use some to try to improve myself whilst knowing that not all criticism is coming from the right place. The audience watching such clips is likely to comprise of young people who are easily influenced and/or misinterpret such poorly presented information.

This is the perfect example of not being able to please everyone.

LOVE the idea,.......... but they are all tiny

Compared to the average ballet dancer, they’re rather shapely. Especially Allison, but clearly they all make it work.

they often dance for over 8 hours a day sometimes nonstop, the muscles they actually build are insanely huge especially in their calves and thighs. they keep a thin frame from the constant cardio but up close many of them are not as thin as they look on stage / on video
and many ballerinas are built naturally bigger and still considered the ideal body shape, it's all about technique, how they treat their bodies and how much time they put into their training ❤️ all bodies are beautiful!

Isabella and Sarah have like perfect ballet bodies, what are they getting on about?

Sara doesn't actually have the "perfect" ballet body, and she doesn't need to. She's tremendously talented, but especially in a company like NYCB where a lot of the dancers look the same, she stands out. If you look up photos of her alongside dancers like Maria Kowroski and Teresa Reichlen (who fit the Balanchine body better), you can tell the difference. She has a wider ribcage which gives a more womanly figure as opposed the normal narrow torso of a typical Balanchine ballerina. Destpite not have the ideal build, for me, no one is more thrilling to watch than Sara.

She actually doesn't. She has a more athletic build than what is typically desired (I mean all dancers are athletic, but she builds muscle more obviously than what is ideal). The ideal ballet body is very slim, and although Sara is certainly fit and skinny, she doesn't really have a naturally slim build.

I'd say Ashley Bouder's body stands out even more, she's short and very muscular. Aaaaand she's also my favorite NYCB dancer, amazingly talented and beautiful. Sara is a close second in my list.

Sara does NOT have a perfect BALLET body.....it is more Gymnastic than Balletic...
