    I like these because they are more 'normal' buildings you would see in real life and there isn't a ridiculous story attached to it. I also love the colors as again you would often see these colors in the wild.

    It definitely is one of the more internally decorated of the older modulars. The town house side roof just screams rebuild. I’m sure you’ll be able to achieve something. 👍🏻 woooo 2nd Diagon Alley 🤣

      I am torn between the two, but I am looking forward to having the building experience for sure. There will be a video at some point to compare the two and see which I prefer. It is still a fun set however.

    Such a lovely pair of houses - got it years ago. I personally would never change it. The alternative version looks kinda ofd in my opinion. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to the result - when you try it ☺️

    Very nice modular, i feel like the interiors are way to empty, you could try to add some tiles, or minibuilds.

    I like booth builds. Only the backsides are a little boring. But 99% of the time you don't look at that side 🤣 But the nicest benefit is. That they are 2 separate buildings.

    That's just it! It's unsurprising you dislike the weird white overhang as it's the only part that betrays the queen anne style of the building. That white band on the apartment building should curve with the bay window and be flush with the wall!

  • @simonmoss101

    I have mine to build and is still sealed in the box. I’m sure I will add more detail to the interior as I go along but does look ok though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    I haven't got this set, but I like that the town house has three levels (four if we include the basement), meaning it's very spacious and there's plenty of scope to add custom furniture pieces. Thanks for your review. Very interesting. 👍

    Great review video. The roof on the town house looks very out of place. Think it would have looked far better had they built it in a similar style to the pet shop. Keep up the singing and dancing 😁👍

    Got this from a guy off Craigslist for $100. For the price, I love this modular. It could use more detail within, but my imagination can take care of that

    • @HighTeaToys

      Very true, as I said this set is definitely worth its price as it remains pretty much the cheapest retired modular.

      @@joydivision1976 ha ha. Thanks man. Not actually this one. I bought second hand from eBay as was relatively cheap for a modular (as said in the video). However, I do have Downtown Diner, Bookshop and corner garage all new sealed in box sitting in my back collection. I think I’ve a Lego problem 😂. I know I want them (even if I don’t have time to build now), so I figure buy whilst I’ve the cash and can get them at RRP

    I am haven't bought this modular for the exact same reasons. But I am thinking to buy it if I can find it for a small price and to MOC it with diffrent bricks for the apartment building (I hate the asymmetrical front bricks) and to make a nice interior myself.

  • @joydivision1976
    @joydivision1976 Před 3 lety +1

    Hi there! Actually, the leftmost building of assembly square has no glass in most of it's upper floor windows (where the dance studio and the music instruments store are located). ;) I always wondered why there's no rounded glass insert for those arched windows.
    Besides that, Pet Shop looks good, but you clearly see the progress Lego Modulars made over the years.
    Happy building!
    Edit: It took me a few seconds until I realized that the stairs at the back are an air inlet. :D

    • @HighTeaToys
      @HighTeaToys  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes indeed, I think that building technique is a nod back to the Pet shop modular (the whole set is full of little details from old sets) but yes, I wonder why they have not yet released a trans rounded window panel. I hope they'll release one at some point.
      Ah yes, an air inlet would make more sense actually :)

  • @SuperSecretBricks
    @SuperSecretBricks Před 3 lety

    I think the reason the price for this modular stagnated, especially compared to the other ones, is because it's been in production for so long. Overall I share your opinion, I initially got it because the townhouse reminded me of the building we lived in in Richmond with it's Victorian façade and bay windows, and the flat in the pet shop reminded me of the house we loved in in Kingston upon Thales with the mezzanine bedroom. However as I built it I got quite disappointed by how empty the interior were, or how the basement wasn't really usable (that's definitely something they fixed in the bookshop!). After a while, I decided to softly MOD it by changing the pet shop into a pet food shop, and moved most of the stuff in the townhouse (except for the parakeets that are sitting on each building roofs, because that's how Twickenham is isn't it, this pesky birds 😄).
    But even with that I'm not entirely satisfied, I think the colours might be a bit too dull, so I'm thinking about switching it to the rebrickable alternative. That would be the first time I change completely a modular, the task is a bit daunting, but once I gather the energy I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with the end result

    • @HighTeaToys
      @HighTeaToys  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree with you, I heard they were on the shelves a long time. And yes, I have thought about adding to the interiors. I think I will leave it for now, but I am working on changing the roof slightly, so I have tried many things and I am still not entirely happy.

    Lovely set but now that you pointed it out I totally agree with you. I love the modular builds but for some reason I cannot get past the the closed in back. I can understand the reasons (street scenes) but I have to be able to see all the beautiful interiors easily. Wow - a second DA, now that will be very interesting, so I imagine you will be closing up the back also
