The price scaling alone makes it worth it to upgrade from the prior top model to the current mid model (the 512GB’s). Assuming most can do what I did, sell theirs to someone for at least $400. Easy grab.
only people that will say it's not worth the upgrade is the people trying to hype themselves up into thinking their LCD deck is just as good, when it's absolutely not
just so you know, the 512gb lcd came with the little bag for the power cable, the cleaning cable (but black), and the case also had the rubber stamped logo. loved your excitement. awesome video
This one looks sooo much better than the original! The case, the power cord being longer, the steam deck itself looks so sick. I love it and wish I had one! I love the semi transparent stuff I did that to an old psp I had. Ever since I cant get enough. Love being able to see the intervals working without taking the whole thing apart. It just looks cool.
When the switch upgraded to OLED, I got it and never regretted it. Same with the deck. Just got mine today and I know what I’m doing over the long thanks giving weekend.

I received mine Tuesday....I'm in the EU so not the limited edition but I bought the 1TB model and I can tell you straight off the bat...the battery life is much better.....faster charging and you are right games download and install faster. It's an improved experience overall. And I had the 64gb model which I sold so yeah I see a bigger difference. All the accessories are compatible. I installed The Witcher 3, God of War, Orcs must die 3 and Vampire survivors OMG they look so awesome. I also have that same Switch lol....no difference really except for the display size. Etched screen shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone...happy with mine.
my experience are the other way around, yes the display is better as expected but idk i dont see much difference tbh like its not 2x better than the lcd, more like 1.2x or 1.5x better. (+the 90hz is neat but depends on games) Downloads took about the same time, being bottlenecked by the cpu unpacking the downloaded files, if u take longer to install b4 then it might the 64gb emmc drive vs the nvme, but download is roughly the same. that said i have perfect wifi connection with wifi6 capable router. Cant speak about charging speed, its fast enough but the old one too so doesnt bother me anyway the same goes with battery life since i never had any issues & carry a powerbank with it most of the time, but tbf i dont have time to play long sessions when im on the go . 😂
I ordered the 1TB OLED, it's my first Steam Deck and I'm so happy I made the purchase. I was playing Diablo 4 on my hotspot during my 50 minute rail commute. Super fun.
I have a 512gb from last october, i ordered the LE OLED this time and got it today..... the whole thing just feels much more refined. Granted i love my LCD deck still but they really did refine the entire system.

I've been holding out on getting a deck and with the announcement of the oled, I'm really thinking I gotta get one now. It would be like the bigboy PS Vita Oled. Love the looks of the limited edition but I can't justify the added cost for it. I bet there's going to be third party shells, grills and thumbsticks that will simulate the limited edition version. Maybe that'd be the route to go later on.
Tip for anyone getting the oled, you don't need scissors to open any of the packaging other than the tape on the box. I managed to open thr security tag no problem without even trying. Either I have a talent for opening things and making it look untouched OR...I dunno. It looks clean.

I ordered my limited edition one a few days ago, i wanted to get one for a while but figured id wait and see and with the oled and all the other upgrades valve did i just had to grab one and since ill keep it forever like all my other hand helds i figured i might as well get the limited edition version especially since it only a few bucks more. ill fit in nice next to my special editions 3DS and switch.
I'd love the translucent look but with solid black like the regular OLED model. I like the orange/red, but definitely not my favorite on a handheld. I hope Steam releases some other limited Edition devices with custom color schemes, such as for new game launches or just other colors.
I'm convinced the old deck also has a place being you can find it used at half the price but man, given this exists I could never play with the original haha
I wonder of valve will offer a trade up option, considering all the people who bought the lcd versions help support the initial release. If the initial sale of the lcd version didn't do well, I doubt the oled version would exist.
At 7:02 it's quite clear that the Switch OLD has better contrast and seemingly more accurate colours that both the Steam Decks. It could be a camera-related thing, but it' could also be that the 1TB etched OLED display tends to be more washed out than their 512 GB glossy counterparts.
I have the glossy 512gb Deck OLED and I can say for certain that the image quality is every bit as good as the Switch OLED. In fact, I think it's a bit better. More accurate color reproduction and I believe it gets brighter. I also prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio.
can you turn the indicator light off? i hate that the transparency makes it so you can see the light on the screen side. a bit distracting while playing at night imo...

how can you say the Switch Glossy screen looks similar to that etched glass LE screen? I may buy the glossy one because I want to maximize the experience on my eyes. Deep blacks should NOT be detered even by minute details just because of that etched screen
There was a video comparing the etched and glossy but the etched screen just doesn’t look as good, very close but I prefer the full oled and premium feel of a glossy oled!
Mine locked up a bunch of times. 1st incident was after the first update. “Shutting down” for 10 minutes. Blank screen a few times going in desktop mode. Black screen after installing MK1. I had to power off manually a lot. Never had this problem with the lcd steam deck
People were doubting that this was truly a limited edition because how easy it was to get on the first week. Well, it's sold out, ebay is your only choice for double the price. This oled limited is beautiful, glad I got it.

You care about power but you should realize it not support as much comparison with steam. Like all the protons it get that valve make remember they don't have to do that, yet they doing it for free. Instead of other game company do them themselves even through they got the money to patch it. Also great for indi dev
They really should make a Steampunk edition! I bought the 64 GB LCD version and what's shocking is that it sounds like a literal steam machine, every time the fan goes off and on. 😄 Plus I'm only downloading games right now, not really playing.
We had the same question back then with the switch Oled, that one was even harder because most would just play on the tv anyway, Im like 30/70 Tv so i didnt upgrade. But then Gamestop had a promo to swap in ur old switch + 100bucks for the Oled, so I could not resist. And it was totally worth it, now im 50/50 tv, if you go once Oled, u never go back 😅
I picked up the oled steam deck. Waiting to get it next week. I am going to sell my “old” steamdeck. It is close to Christmas so I can get rid of it cheap, that would be good.
my big concern with getting a steam deck is how long before the requirement floor of new releases exceed the performance ceiling of the steam deck to keep a steady 30fps
That's the same across the board....speakng for myself I have a backlog of games so plenty to keep me occupied....not about to throw out my gaming laptop because it can't handle the latest and the greatest. Then there's the time factor. Only so many hours I can play. Won't mind getting a new Deck in a year or two tbh but gaming laptops here are horrifyingly expensive.The Deck is cheaper if Valve stick within the same price range.

I was unlucky enough to grab a 64gb LCD on sale in September only to fall in love with it and then have the OLED announcement come along. At first I was happy to keep my LCD as it was a bargain but then the OLED improvements ground me down until I upgraded. Sold the LCD deck for the same as it cost me (with a budget 512gb inside) and have my OLED on the way! The screen and battery life alone are enough for the extra £180 it cost me. Love the energy in the video too! Sub'd!
I totally would have ordered this one if it was all black instead of with orange accents. I loved the smoke black N64 and GBC. However, I HATE orange. So i just ordered the 1TB black steam deck OLED. I was on the fence though. I just can't stand those accents.

I just got my 512 GB OLED this afternoon. It is such a leap ahead from my old LCD model. That 90hz refresh rate alone was worth it for me.

I totally would have ordered this one if it was all black instead of with orange accents. I loved the smoke black N64 and GBC. However, I HATE orange. So i just ordered the 1TB black steam deck OLED. I was on the fence though. I just can't stand those accents.

You can put in a 1 terabyte SD card . Love the one you got , 🎮 . I ordered the 1T black one . I can't focus on the screen with those two big red dots staring at me 😂 personal choice . Don't care for the LE .

You will get yours it seem like that Limited Edition is so Limited they seem to have more. I am debatign buying oen even though I own LCD 512 and Oled 512 lol.. Does look nice but he is right it is pricy so right now wanting to switch or keep my, either are worth the buy.
@@WildharpieECW dont even touch that subject lol steam should get sued for false marketing since the 16th the so called “limited edition” has sold out 2x that i can 100% confirm and they keep adding more stock. I never bought the LCD version that’s why i bought this but i think even if i would have the LCD version the new OLED is worth an upgrade based on all the videos i seen they pretty much changed a lot if stuff.
I can't help it but compared to the Switch, the Steam Deck just looks clunky and unwieldy.
