Update. I got 3 shiny Eevee's in a lucky outbreak. I have 5 now out of the 9 I want

I spent 3 years trying to get a shiny route 1 Skwovet, I took breaks in between this time, but the hunt went on for so long that I gave up every time I reattempted the hunt, until recently I came back to it and got it within less than an hour 😅
Did people really think that about shiny hunting in let’s go? I literally assumed from the start that they were referring to the same Pokemon getting an increase in shiny odds.
Sometimes people spoke vaguely enough to confuse others. While I never thought that was how it worked, because logic, you would be surprised how many people were convinced that just knocking out or catching all the pokemon in a route would help towards a pokemon not found in that route.
@@Aaroncarter95 I blame the games for being too vague with their explanations. Especially with the catch combo problem, I’m pretty sure the reason people got mixed up was because of features like catch combo Pokemon, which can found just as long as you keep a non-Pokemon specific combo, which I think mixed people up because of increased shiny odds being the only Pokemon specific thing. In terms of the murder method, well… that was just the game’s fault (it is funny though looking at those past shiny Pokemon videos and the titles saying they used the murder method not knowing how they caught a full-odds shiny).
@@toast2110 something to also keep in mind is that people thought it boosted the odds of all the Pokémon of that species. But it only boosted the next one before restarting the count. So if you get to max odds shiny Growlithe and the next one that spawns isn't shiny, you need to catch even more before you get the best odds again

@@JadeiteMcSwag what I mean is, a lot of players thought that LGPE boosted shiny odds for the whole chain, but it only boosted the odds for a single spawn. If that specific Pokémon isn't shiny, you have to catch another in your chain to transfer those odds to the next spawn after that or else restart your whole chain. I think that boost isn't specific to the species you're chaining either, so you could get a 31+ streak of Oddish then have Weedle be your boosted shiny. Johnstone breaks this down in his "I Caught Every Shiny in Let's Go Before Each Gym" video, it's a minute long section around the 59 minute mark
Lets go players fundamentally misunderstanding how catch combo shiny boosting worked for 4 years is the most Pokemon fan thing I've ever heard
It's hilarious knowing this and seeing those videos of people doing "races" and they both just catch a bunch of Caterpie and then fly elsewhere to catch what they actually want

Meloetta. It's been over 10 years and there is STILL no way of legitimately obtaining a shiny Meloetta. No event shiny, nothing. Even the one in SV is shiny locked.

That's happened with the only two shinies I've found in that game..the second one fled which broke my combo I worked on for a full week and I'm never touching that game again

it's true tbh, Pokemon Legends of Arceus handed them out like CANDY after you do everything in the game, Scarlet and Violet's Shiny Sandwiches are among the easiest and BEST method in Shiny hunting history, and don't even get me started with Chain Fishing in the X and Y and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games or the Max Lair in Galar or Ultra Worm Holes in the Ultra Games
I had one shiny in all of my games since sapphire until I played pokemon legends arceus and got like 10. Maybe I got one in lets go eevee, but I don't remember it.
@@lugismansion2400 I got full (not perfected) dex entries for every Pokémon. I perfected a good few. I still have only gotten maybe 20 shinies. I hunted for 2. You're just lucky.

There's no easier method for shiny hunting than skipping the hunting process altogether.
Yes, even though you don't get a cool colored pokemon that's different. Skipping it makes the game more fun

Those people back in 2021 who laughed at me for catching 600 gastly in lgpe because "the odds stay constant at 31" felt real stupid when that news came out. I found just standing around boring so I kept the streak going until a shiny spawned
Yet during all these years and hundreds of playthroughs I still have encountered less than ten shinies.
Well, there are some other reasons to go back to Let's Go.
The partner Pikachu and Eevee are just really cute and fun to play with.
The games themselves are also really calming. The vibe is just really nice.
And for me, I haven't actually finished the game yet so-
Don’t forget the fact you can find legendaries in the flipping wild!
They have such a nice artstyle too

Let's Go Eevee: dark types only. My team will consist of "umbreon", mega gyarados, alolan raticate, alolan persian, and alolan muk. Yes, the game only has 3&1/2 dark types. I'm so excited.
Catch combos are nightmares

A Pokémon will only run after two failed attempts to catch it. It’s advised to run from the encounter after the second ball fails, and this doesn’t break the combo.
I'm trying a shiny only let's Go Pikachu. I got spearow and nidoran ♂️. Now I'm hunting for bulba 😭

Shiny arceus is still only available through full odds bdsp hunts, and I got one in only 10 tries
The second pansear I got was shiny. One not shiny in Pokémon Black, one shiny in White. Full 1/8000 odds.
I got my daughter let’s go. She picked up her starter. And soon as she walked out route one the first thing that showed up was a shiny pigy. It was her first Pokémon game. In the second Pokémon she ever caught was a shiny.
This same thing happened to me. I left oaks lab with my eevee and the literal first pidgey I saw was shiny I was at a loss for words and then was dying laughing. Impressive that was her first Pokémon game too haha
In my 25 years of playing Pokémon, probably hundreds of thousands (million???) of encounters, I had only ever seen the Red Gyarados in Lake of Rage as my only shiny.. Lol.

Some mons in the let’s go games you couldn’t catch combo because they only showed up whilst you were in the middle of a separate catch combo
Find it funny the Pokémon he used for let’s go was Vulpix which has been my only successful hunt in those games
I never found the Catch Combo mechanic to be that bad. I've caught a few Shinies that way and am thankful for each one. Though I am sad that it is not a universal multiplier.
I feel like the Outbreaks in S&V make shiny hunting easier, as in some areas, you can't isolate the specific pokémon you want; even then, pray to RNG that an outbreak spot is as good as one can be in an awkward spot.
Id probably go back to Lets Go for nostalgia because it was actually my first real Pokémon game
I thought that the shiny odds in let’s go worked like that and I caught lots of caterpie and got the shiny so I kept hunting and instead got a weedle so that made me believe it more
While it’s worked a good number of times for me, I still see the shiny magikarp method from the Sun&Moon generation a tedious nightmare

I legit have never gotten a shiny when i make sandwiches. every shiny I've found in Violet have all been random finds

Same. It's either been a Masuda run or freaking random. The only sandwiches I make now are peanut butter for the Egg Power.

Sandwich hunting is like, way easier than normal hunting.
On average I get Shinies within 15 minutes of making a sandwich for whichever I hunt.

I did try to shiny hunt for a Drowzee in Let's Go Eevee once but after a long catch combo only a shiny Zubat appeared.
The BDSP Shiny Charm should deserve a mention. I don't know if anyone else said this, but in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, the Shiny Charm only works on Eggs. It's weird because in every other game with the charm, it works on encounters, as well as Eggs.

Because of the Let's Go mixup, my guess is that in SV, the increased shiny odds in a mass outbreak also only apply to the next Pokemon that spawns (after knocking one out)
I have yet to get a shiny from those using the proper methods, so you might be right. Then again, I am chronically unlucky.
I wasn’t gonna mention this but since people are literally selling shinies, there’s a twitch channel that literally creates a Pokémon of you’re choosing, it uses several bots to create its gender, IVs and if it’s shiny or not. I can’t remember which channel but a google search can help
I’ve caught two shinies off of complete coincidence, one Steenee during an outbreak and a shiny vaporeon I just… found. Bro was just hanging out around the water

Yeah, I was playing a Let's Go game and wanted a shiny dratini. Eventually I did get one but it RAN AWAY. I soon found a shiny Magikarp.
Oh my god thank you for telling me that about Let's Go. I was lied to! (and no, it wasn't a misunderstanding on my part, I was literally told that I could catch a chain of ANY species to increase overall chances, some dumb guide I read somewhere)
There is also thr factor of beinh able to see a huge number of pokemon wothout actually eunning into them
This is why. Instead of having to waste 5 seconds to see just one pokemon, you can waste 0 seconds and see 15 pokemon. I've gotten 3 full odds shinies in pla, and maybe 4 in violet just by playing the game. I don't know how big the radius is of the outbreaks in violet, so maybe I was riding through one and got a shiny there.
Shinies and Legendaries used to be so exclusive that people I know who’ve played casually since red and blue haven’t gotten their first shiny until legends arceus

My favourite would be GO community days, they only happen once or twice per month and for a specific Pokemon only, but they are a good way to farm for a shiny… or two… or 15…

I actually got one without trying while trying to have an Espeon appear during a SOS call in Moon. I got it and then I evolved it into a Sylveon.

The rng gods are holding a grudge against you, a few years ago in an eevee community day I, I managed to snatch enough to used them as trade coins and I've managed to get some randomly on gen 8/9.
Getting a shiny Pokemon is too easy nowadays, but I think that’s a good thing. It makes random shinies way more common, meaning your more likely to get them on normal playthroughs. This means that casual players are going to find shinies more, and shinies are going to mean more to them because they don’t have that many. I say this as a former shiny hunter, my three favourite shinies was my first one (Beedrill in Let’s Go), my rarest one (Pinsir in Let’s Go), and the one I found randomly in Violet after I had hung up my Shiny Hunter Hat (Luxray).
Also shiny hunting is just lame as hell, like there are infinitely more fun ways to watch paint dry (I say this as a former shiny hunter who has at least 100 shinies across various games)
I one time ended up making close to 20 sandwiches before finding my shiny Bulbasaur

The first pokemon I caught in the DLC for Scarlet was a shiny Wooper. I just saw something pink in the distance and didn't realize what it was until I was right next to him.

You can obtain the seeds of a SwSh raid den using a bot, and the den will tell you how many times you have to date skip to force that Pokémon to appear shiny
I don't care if shinys are to easy for the hard-core hunters. i like how much easier it is. Now i actually have time to hunt for them. Not everyone has the time to spend literally days of playing a game to try to find a shiny pokemon. And the fact people sell them is a sign they need to be made even easier. Face it, those shinys are most likely hacked, but people will still buy them because they want the shiny and don't have the time to hint for them.
Probably the same people who always scream that the games are too easy and want them frustratingly hard. If you want something hard go and play Dark Souls and not the game with an age rating of 6. Also, it would be nice if everyone has the chance to encounter at least one shiny in their games, not just the ones who spend entire days doing nothing but hunting for them.
And yes, those shinies that are getting sold ARE hacked. You'd risk your account getting banned if you tried to load them to Pokemon home or to trade or battle online with them.

correction on the let’s go thing, i believe that the boost only applies to the next POKEMON that spawns after catching a pokémon. the mix up was that people thought that every pokemon had a shiny boost once they got to a certain amount of a catch combo when in reality it was they just had to keep catching pokémon to get the boost (i think?)

I spent approximately 12 hours with the shiny charm and isolated encounters with full sparkling sandwich power trying to get a shiny marked Goomy. I got like 2 or 3 total shinies. Luckily for me, 2 were marked. I've also tried the outbreaks and have gotten a fat 0 total. And 90% of my outbreaks suck. No. I do NOT want FLITTLE!!!

I remember seeing a video where someone discussed the shiny hunting in Let's Go, and I remember thinking it was non-sense that it would apply to any new pokemon, not just the same species. Turns out I was right.

Man I remember being a sucker for both those hunting methods. I would go catch I think it was 31 or 32 Caterpie or weedle on LGP and then go off to hunt another Pokémon because “I got the combo up, now everything is boosted until I break the chain!” And in Sword I spent a week knocking out Zigzagoons to get the odds to 1/500 just for the shiny to take forever and then realize that method was wrong lol
I did the same thing multiple times and found a shiny psyduck and doduo. I guess I just got lucky lol.

I found a shiny Vulpix in the fire Gym in Sword and Shield. It was one of the first pokemon I gotta catch, and I immediately knocked out my opponent to get it
The sandwiches are 100% the right way and i can tell you why. Played pokemon since pokemon black and white 1 and NEVER saw a shiny legitimately in a game until scarlet and violet rolled around

Istg those sandwiches are frauds. I've been hunting a shiny bisharp/pawniard for weeks and in that time I have found a shiny Altaria IN THE SAME AREA I WAS HUNTING BISHARP, and, a shiny goodra in a raid for more herbs.

The one time I tried the KO method in SwSh was when I hunted Rolycoly within the first week of the game being out. It took me roughly 1,000 KOs before I found it and it was my first and last time doing it since I've owned the game. I plan on doing another but I have been preoccupied with getting the Legendary Pokémon not available shiny in gen 8-9 (Poipole, Type Null, etc.).
Funnily enough, I was hunting shiny Nidoran in let’s go, but got a shiny Charizard instead.
577 shinys on Pokémon scarlet, 2024 was also the year I completed my shiny Dex.

I have horrible luck with shinies. Since gold and silver I have only encountered 3 wild shiny pokemon.
Tera raids are probably also worse since they have decreased shiny odds
I shiny hunted a Galarian Zigzagoon in Sword in the wild and got a Treecko with Masuda method. The Treecko was quicker to get which told me to just wait until gen 9 to shiny hunt again….
