This video is meant for addicted fans who are at work and desperately need to see the intro or hear the song. It's also to show that Napoleon TW is an awesome game and almost any strategyfan should buy it.
All material is created by The Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. Napoleon: Total War is a copyright product. Buy this game people, don't steal income from great game developers and publishers. - Hry
"I found the French crown in the gutter and I picked it up" The single best quote from napoleon.
It was in the actual game, at the time of finishing Egypt.
He said it after becoming Emperor of France. He left his army in Egypt as the French government thought that only a military dictatorship could save the country after word spread of his failures in Africa, so he defiantly seized the opportunity and headed home to take the crown.
The second part of the quote is also great: "And it is the people, who put it on my head."
Napoleon was never Emperor of France. He purposefully declared himself Emperor of the French.
@@bisque6448 and still he was far the greatest leader of France
When you combine a beached HMS Victory and a French landing at the cliffs of south-east england..... any fan of alternate history immediately gets a raging nerd boner.
On a side note, unless we are to assume the French directly beached the Victory, the crew must have fucked up pretty bad in order to have went 'straight-backwards' into land.
I'm French and I am quite fond of the relationship we have with the British... And yet, that beached Victory did give me that nerd boner. Go figure.
Dustin King It was all part of Admiral Nelson's genius plan "We shall bring the full might of our navy onto the land! The French will have no chance!" (in this alternate history Nelson was dropped on his head as an infant).
most likely victory surrenderd to napoleon and as a political gesture forced beached it on the shores and burnt it it was a tradition in the old days to burn your ships after setting foot on land a statement of "were not leaving" doing it to victory could be the same as saying youll never have victory
Your profile pic looks like the Gun Jesus from Forgotten Weapons
The ending part in Dover where he orders the HMS Victory to be burned, as French troops march past the ‘To London 54 miles’ sign is chilling. Sets the atmosphere for this game perfectly - definitely one of the better intros in the series.
Pretty sure those were Napoleon's Old Garde
@@predatorx9457 looks like it to me
More surprised they had such signs back then
This is definitely #2 for me. #1 is the Shogun 2 intro
@@handlesarecringe957love the Shogun 2 intro, but this one makes me more pumped to conquer my enemies 💪
There was no greater trailer from TW than this. Is just stunning and epic!
+Geto Dacul What a great man he was. Much #respect
Shogun 2 intro is great too. Also, the very first medieval total war. There is something about it. At the time it blew me away.
+Max War
Medieval Total War (the original) and Napoleon Total War have the best intros, in my opinion.
Honestly, total war was really falling apart after Shogun 2

The scene with the Old Guard carrying the French flag has always given me the chills.
its about he only thing that made it back from Russia :( was the old guard
I rather prefer the siege of Moscow.
I like the attention to detail shown by having Napoleon have one hand behind his back, as he often did in real life.
What about the hand in his coat to pose for a portrait like high-ranking masons do?
If you were Implying he was a Freemason, He wasn't.

54 miles to London, burning HMS Victory, the shores of England. So cool
If Napoleon did manage to beat Nelson and conquer England,Europe would be different
If Henry the V managed to Subjugated the whole of France Europe too would be different today.

One of the Greatest men that ever lived, Napoleon.
Mr. Worldwide Uh, yeah let's praise someone who slaughtered countless innocent people. The man burnt down a church with everyone inside it for crying out loud. He had no honor or integrity, and if you lack those traits, you are not great by any means. He was definitely a great strategist and/or commander, but not a great man.
K. Bittala If you provide a legitimate source of him slaughtering countless innocent people then I'll believe it, I haven't heard of this before.
K. Bittala Sounds an awful lot like British Propaganda against Napoleon.
Mr. Worldwide Napoleon certainly was a very brave man.

Alexander's empire changed the whole world as we know it today. What do you mean by "it didn't last"?
John Highway his empire was broken up by his generals right after his death
...All hail... Napoleon...
***** Not exactly, he completely broke the strangle hold the Catholic Church had on mainland Europe. He kept France in the game as a major world power. You must way up the pros and cons of someone from history and judge them not on modern times but the times they lived in.
Napoleon allowed France to breathe and this is coming from an Englishman. Napoleonic code while may seem archaic by today's standards and even was a step back from English common law at the time, the basic idea of innocent until proven guilty, Napoleonic code basically stated guilty until proven innocent. It still however was better than church state law which french people and most other European nations lived under.
This is why Napoleon is rarely talked about in the UK as we already had a more robust law (depending on your opinion of law). However for mainland Europe it was Napoleon which brought the code of modern law to Europe. This is why UK and the EU do not really get on. We see ourselves different than the EU we believe we have more fair laws based on English common law rather than Napoleonic code which most EU nations base their law upon.
Why do you think USA and the UK get on so well (our laws are virtually identical) the stems of law originate from the same place as does our political ideology.
Thank you for that information. :-)
Awrah the upright Muslim
Interesting. But in modern EU you are innocent until proven guilty.

this is fucking badass, with mozartrs requiem playing in the background this truly is amazing.
max venezian Its not reqium, just something sounding pretty similar
That's not Mozart's requiem duh
Jean-Nay Mar well lacrimosa then
max venezian
The lacrimosa is part of Mozart's requiem.
No this is just a music made for the game I guess.
The reason they do not actually feature Mozart's Requiem is because it's a funeral song.
The music was tailored to fit a more glorious and noble cause...
Which also rather deadly to the average soldier in the field.
It's also why, at the start of "Army of Shadows (1969)" where, instead of playing any actual Prusso/German military triumph marches, the filmmaker asked for a more death invoking tune (the opposite of Napoleon Total War).
Because the German Army, marching triumphantly into Paris is more the death of France then the victory of Germany in that movie.

I never got into Napoleon growing up it was always Julius Caesar as my favorite General/emperor but when I first bought this game I was blown away by that opening and the title theme was so damn epic with the video in the background it took me awhile to actually start the game! But was after I did all the campaigns I continued to research Napoleon!
Psa: Gaius Julius Ceasar was just dictator. Not Emperor or king.

Ah... I needed to see this so much. I just finished watching Waterloo (1970), and although it is a great movie, I felt so depressed after the ending. This picked me up.
+Richardsen So sad Napoleon lost waterloo
In my opinion, his story and success are similar to Alexander the Great. While Alexander did conquer more and did more undeniably. It's Napoleon's success, the impossible battles won, and how short his success was is what makes it so familiar. Napoleon shattered Europe in a way that they would never forget him. He literally brought the entire continent to its knees as no one could defeat him. It was not until everyone had to fight together to ensure a defeat of Napoleon.
Everyone and Russia ofc lol, can’t forget his invasion of Russia was his downfall

Facts
As a Brit, seeing the Victory burning and French forces marching to London is bone chilling. This intro did so much to illustrate the type of game I was getting into. It was my first Total War game and I love it to this day.
The ending of this intro is rather unfortunate. If he'd said it in french, that would have been so much more immersive and awesome!
Yeah, he should have said it in French with subtitles.
The french intro actually sucks.. lol check it out on youtube
Yeah i watched it, the desync on the lips is silly and the voice not great. But imagine: take the last sentence, modify the voice to be deeper and more aggressive and you've got the perfect N:TW intro theme.

‘London - 54 miles’
Okay, that gave me chills.
I've watched this cinematic dozens of times, and I only just now noticed how the torch lights up the waystone in the left corner saying "to London 54 miles". Amazing cinematography, a wonderful detail probably missed by many. Including me, until just now.
I don't know why but when watching the intro of the game, I never notice it. The recording I uploaded, I immediately noticed it.
It was just a 1:1 Fraps grab so no fancy filters applied or anything. Maybe it's our brain's mindset between going into a game looking to have a quick reacting and knowing it's passively watching a YT video and looking for details instead.
Better than the movie.
+1 yep Napoleon is probably turning in his grave over that movie depiction of him. It almost felt more about Josephine.

Napoleon conquering British Isles... such a shame it never happened.
British were the only ones better then Napolean well everyone else was worse so the Brits were like oh hey I'll take that,
***** What? So I presume the Battle of France never happened then? The British fought on land, on sea and in the air for the entire war!
Well the British army was completely incapable of mounting an offensive alone, they simply did not have the resources or manpower to take on the Germans in Europe. I don't think avoiding certain defeat is cowardly.
TheMadscientist327 The Only time the british faced napoleon and won was at waterloo.
The spanish forces were not commanded by napoleon so dont bring up the penninsular campaign.
***** You do realise GB was funding all the other nations in the coalition against France... We were not just fighting in the war, we practically funded everyone else.
i usually hate tyrannicle power ambitious dictators, but when i see that France was basically against all of Europe, i can't help but admire his courage and bravery, truly a man of his time.

This intro always gives me shivers
This is actually a pretty good game intro. Liked it. :)
Juste the best!
Who the hell would burn a first rate battleship captured in combat? Capturing a first rate ship of the line would be considered an incredible prize, and Victory was the flagship of the British navy, Napoleon would never have burnt it after capturing it. Most likely it would have been towed back to france to display his power, and to humiliate his enemies.... but he never did capture it :D
Henrique Fredes
There is just one HMS Victory. What I would find more plausible is that in its current state, the three-decker would be un-recoverable, and they would rather destroy it.
I guess he would burn it because it would be the ultimate humiliation for the Royal Navy - The pride of the Royal Navy burning on the coast of the country it fought to protect that would disgrace the navy and lower the morale of the people.
Ofc that didnt happen but i guess he would do that if it did.
Could be a power/prestige move.
"I've captured the pride of your Royal Navy. But I hold the British in such low regard that I don't think it's worth keeping."
To capture it and keep it would be to, in a sense, acknowledge the worthiness of his foe. But to destroy it is basically adding insult to injury.
Trivia: Stéphane Cornicard, the actor who did the voice of Napoleon in this Total War installment, also played the same voice role in a three-part BBC documentary on Napoleon himself.
