    Things that are crucial in waterloo:
    -Cavalry is important, always have a reserve, do not send them towards spikes
    -Make your lines long but not too long
    -Flanking is key
    -Dont pointlessly charge
    -Counter attacks!!

      Another reason was that after each cannon fire, the cannon itself mired into mud. It needed 4-6 soldiers to pull it out. Artillerymen got easily exhausted repeating this process.

(For example Guard heavy cavalry commander Guyot) Around 4000 French horsemen rushed towards the British.
      Napoleon saw the defective cavalry charge. But He would gamble his victory on this charge. He called out his cavalry commander Kellermann Jr. to gather all the reserve horses they had. Uh no, having 2 or even 3 lines is better than one, more bullets to spray than a single line.
      Since artillery is crap in this game and misses 90% of the time, it's worth the risk to quickly route enemy units with this focused fire.

    Easiest way to win this battle is to funnel infantry round to the left take the farmhouse and then sweep down the ridge. Keep 3 brigades if cav free to engage blucher which destroys him. Then the remainder of your cavalry can be used to destroy the British which try to advance off the ridge.
    BTW taking any building in this battle means that british artillary will fire on that building so you can keep infantry safe.

    I never played Napoleon total war, but in this situation I prefer attack first prussian in moving, then I see the english army, who is sleeping in hill. A front battle with english army is a real mistake in the first phase of this game.
    History of battle:
    The prussian army went to Right flank of french army but they attacked always behind the army of Napoleon during the battle (not at the end) and it was real fight, a carnage of prussian and french soldier. The french reserve fought the Prussians.

  • @Joaosantos22114
    @Joaosantos22114 Před rokem

    Really poor usage of artillery, artillery is much more useful than people think and its simply underperforming because they utilize it for the wrong targets or simply forget about it entirely and let it be charged. My tip is to utilize it to destroy buildings or to prioritize killing cavalry which it does pretty well (it is also an excellent tool for assassinating generals). I only recommend using solid shot against infantry when they're bunched up or when closing up with scatter shot (although even this might not be enough, hence the importance of assassinating their general early for the demoralizing effect). Lastly, howitzers do a really ok job at dealing with infantry and they can really thin out strong enemy infantry units which lets you save the lives of many line infantry units.
    My advice is to sacrifice at least 1 of your infantry or cavalry units to protect your rear and that precious artillery. This might actually be a good lure because enemy cavalry will usually try to outflank you and target your artillery, you can use this to your advantage if you know what you're doing. I usually have a unit of light cavalry or militia (something cheap) solely dedicated to protecting that artillery as even one militia unit can really put a big dent on any nasty cavalrymen that try to rush your guns.

    • @AFGuidesHD
      @AFGuidesHD  Před rokem

      @Joaosantos22114 Před rokem

      @@AFGuidesHD Yeah I also despised artillery but after replaying this amazing game after some years I have finally realized the potential of artillery. It does well against cavalry because cavalry are easier targets in general, the A.I is stupid enough to keep them standing still or charging directly towarda your guns.
      The guns miss a lot so I usually use lower caliber due to the higher accuracy and always have more than one,it helps because even one direct shot is enough to severely weaken any cavalry unit.

    If you play as Britain on easy mode it’s not very hard and infact I beat it on my 4-6 gameplay and normal is easy to but that’s because you have an advantage of holding farmhouses like hougmont papelotte and la haye saint and elite units but as France it’s almost impossible for me and even though I have it on easy mode it’s hard because my units always keep wavering and becoming shattered since the British has a higher boost in morale which is not fair and you don’t even have any artillery good enough to destroy even one farmhouse and I tried to flank the British with light cavalry but the world border prevented me from doing it and also hougomont is the hardest to take with papelotte able to fall easy but the thing is it’s hard to shatter most or all of Wellington’s men and you have to defeat him quick because then the Prussians will attack behind you so honestly I feel like the units are not very balanced because the British have a huge morale boost when the French have a small one which feels very unfair and borodino was not to bad compared to this since my artillery destroy many of the Russian artillery guns but Waterloo as the French is actually very hard
