A similar comparison of the Rangeley 15 to mallard xl would be great.

Wow it’s amazing to see the size difference between em. The Heron is a big canoe in its own right but looks tiny next to the rangley. I think it’s more of a rowboat than a canoe but I bet it’s a sweet ride even in rough conditions

Both boats are perfect for anglers and hunters and have their own special traits. While the Rangeley handles big open water better and is more stable you can not beat the ability of the Heron to be car topped. Ultimately I chose the heron for this purpose.
You are correct the Rangeley rows like a champion. It owes that to its heritage and original design intent.

Would the Heron be a good choice for fishing with 1-2 people Long Island Sound Bays, can get some wind and chop?

would love to see a video like this for the Heron vs Mallard XL. which of those two would you recommend for primarily standing up fly fishing with an occasional passenger? Do you have a torqueedo model recommendation? thanks!

Both are good options. The extra width of XL definitely gives more stability for casting although for 2 paddlers I prefer the Heron. Torqeedo 1103 works great on either. Cheers
