I'm surprised Craig didn't address Saku's eye nearly being gouged out by Justin Williams during that same series. Poor guy got put through the ringer that week.
Epic, need more of these behind the scenes shenanigans stories that ESPN won’t dare put on their shows, and most players are afraid to talk about. This is pure gold. Love blooper stories of pro athletes, humanizing them making everyone laugh.
I remember losing this series in 2006, no wonder saku went from being on fire to barely being able to play. Good job buddy you damn plug

I remember Craig Rivet playing junior for my hometown Kingston Frontenacs when I was a kid! Great junior player and great NHLer! Nice to see him still connected to the game!
Well that's one story that shouldn't have been told.
FYI, the GM, Bob Gainey, took over coaching from Claude Julien that year and was the coach during the playoffs.

This was a memorable series as I was watching my Habs when growing up. I remember it had to do with Saku going cold (with good reason we now find out!) and Arturs Irbe replacing Martin Gerber. We were lighting that kid up before Cage Face came in.
It was Cam Ward who replaced Gerber.

That's crazy. Knocking out the captain over a shit. That was a pretty good team in 2006. 4 good lines, and a decent defense without Brisebois. After winning the first 2 games in Carolina fell apart when Saku went down in game 3. To think how far the team could have went if this had not happened. Makes me appreciate even more that the Habs got Josh Gorges out of trading Rivet.
