Ustad Daman was a well-known figure in Pakistan and his poetry and teachings on Sufism were widely influential. In addition to his work as a poet and spiritual leader, he was also involved in politics and was a vocal advocate for social justice and equality. He worked closely with Mian Iftikharuddin and other progressive politicians in Lahore and played an active role in the Pakistan Movement, which sought to create an independent Muslim state in South Asia.

Every nation requires people like Ustad Daman who can say truth in front of corrupt elite. He was mouthpiece of common people. I read his poetry during my school time and about his life in Farjand Ali's novel Bhubal. Love from Punjab(India)

I didn't know much about Ustad Daman but wah the poetry i heard in this video is enough for me to get his book and know Ustad ji little better, Thank you Baalwal sb for introducing Daman to younger audience.
I hardly knew about the ustaad or his poetry till today.
Was deeply touched by his poems recited by you, his simple language and deep sarcasm is unmatchable.
Loved to know about this gem of Punjab. Hope I'll get his book in Punjabi or Hindi as Urdu I can't read.

Sir. Lost in your words, teary eyes. We have never respected our legends. Ustad Daman choose to live in Pakistan but our rulers crushed this gem.
Ustad Daman apne vele to kite aggae de san. Chirag deen uraf Daman ne jiddan haqam nu, "Ki kari Jana, ki Kari jana" likh k lalkareya oh ik baaghi ee kar sakda. Ustad Daman di khud di awaaz ch recorded interview bada ee mazedaar ae. Shukriya lameyan walan waleya for all your efforts and legwork.

Your today’s clog brought to memory another VIP of Lahore and that is ~Mian Iftikhar and his family. They were very well off and owned Pakistan Times, and few others newspapers which Ayub Khan nationalised under PPL. One of his son Arif Iftikhar also contested election and was famous. After this, the family’s name was forgotten and I don’t know who is presently the flag bearer of this family.
