- Javan Gibbon Hecla gave birth to her seventh infant on 12 July 2010. Although we don't have footage of that birth, Perth Zoo staff caught on film the birth of another of Hecla's offspring, a female called Cahaya, in 2008.
It is thought to be the first time a Javan Gibbon birth has been caught on camera and we thought you might like to see it.
I know it wasnt on purpose, but wow how nature works...
Look how the baby is caught and lifted up by the head/neck with no injury...
Amazing few seconds of film all around, and we thank you for it!
This is the beautiful work of nature in action. What a wonderfully uncomplicated birth. Love the Dad's reaction to be involved as soon as Hecla helps her newborn emerge.
It's incredible how momma instinctively knows to keep her hand back there to catch or guide her baby out then sever the umbilical cord.
So talk about the right place at the right time thanks for sharing!
Video title is "Birth of a Javan Gibbon"
Then, a warning: " Might contain scenes of giving birth"
I almost cried.
....gondolom a röhögéstől. Detto
That was a beautiful video ,even if it’s an older one ,thank you sooo much for taping this ,I really appreciated that ,
Hi @MsHermette, the infant, Cahaya, is still going strong and is a very active gibbon at the Zoo.
The dad is like ‘what the bloody hell? Darling I think you just pooped a kid’
1:15= the greatest thing everrrrr 😂
Dad- "Awwwwwwww! Oh honey, you did it....... you had our baby. You're amazing honey, you did such a good j~...
Mom- "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH ME. GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF OF ME STEVEN."
😆😆😆
Very. Smart new mom to be she make sure the new born not drop down catch with her hand quick very good mommy thank you for sharing Bless you both ,
I did that Jack and it's quite easy to see she's alive. What an amazing moment to capture!
that is fast as lightning
Wow that mom was a pro
Wow - she's a no fuss, experienced, mother! That's one way to get rid of an annoying umbilical cord. A little bit worrying that she didn't attend to the baby once born but I understand Cahaya is strong and healthy.
your correct , we use to have animals on the family farm and i got to be part many many beautiful events of seeing babys come in too this world
That was pretty cool
@ 1:10 sec. The other monkey looked at the infant and then looked at the mama's backside like, "That just came out of there"??? 🤣
Living life on the edge...
Right on!!!! Good job mom. She made it look easy. Like it was nothin'
Push....Push....Pop...Grab......and. BABY!!!
And if that's Dad beside her looking on like WTF!?!? He did a better job than I did. Standing behind my wife, as soon as the Doctor held my first born son up and he cries...I got dizzy, really hot and sick to my stomach. BAMM...right to the floor. Woke up in the other bed in my wife's hospital room. A mofo of a headache , busted lip and 4 stiches over my left eye. Hit the equipment cart with my face.
Sorry for your experience! Reacting like that is human hope your baby is graciously growing up God bless you and your family 👪
They different from the monkey , they so much caring with the baby.
your correct Spirits ! make the clip on fullscreen you can see the little ones rib cage moving b4 it goes to where it is swinging on the rope
I just saw another video that says this mother abandoned the baby the same day it was born. It also said this is common for the mother to abandon her firstborn...does anyone know the reason for this?
No kiddin huh? SNAP! and she's good to have been attentive to the little one, nearly shot across the enclosure! Good momma though that's for sure. I love to see them "hook up" it's such an awesome thing to witness.
Can't the way she stepped on the umbilical and severed the cord be harmful to the baby?
That’s what I wondered.?
At 2:14 I thought maybe the baby had a broken neck from the way mom had been swinging it around by it’s head.
That thing shot out like it was covered in axle grease💨
Haha axle grease that made me lol for real 😂
Amazing births! In human births u have to wait for blood flow to stop between mother and infant then cut off blood supply from placenta to infant and another clamp closer to infants abdomen for umbilical clamp and when pulsing has stopped cut the cord between the two places and wait for birth of placeta and these days hand off infant for care by neonatal nurse then back to the mother. Gibbons they just git er done now!
I don't think she was dead. Watch it again. Her little legs were moving all over the place and then the mother was clutching her at the end of the video. I believe the next scene was Momma and baby swinging through the trees. This mother has had 7 babies. She's just quick and confident with her actions.
You all very smart and clever living in the wild know what to do with new born. Love you all God Bless you .
BRUTAL! stretch----- SNAP !!! and the little one cries out proving it' was at ;least alive and well at that rubber band like pull on it's little tummy. Then we see the little arms looking like a Barrel of Monkeys game in the flesh with them super hook arms flailing around as it screamed in pain....Welcome Sky Hook Jr. Welcome. A bit amusing how Mom bit the umbilical once and then went to work cleaning her hand like a ice cream cone first.
Dead? Nope. Alive? YES the little one was alive @ 1:56 and @ 2:15 moving around. WTH? As much as them little hooks for hands flailed around? It'd have taken a knock to it's noggin to make it stop living, it's alive as can be.
Sick
Yes the baby does look dead. you can't even see it breath. The way the mom took that tiny thing of the cord, was a little rough. you could here the baby right off. It doesn't look like it's alive at all.
Oh my goodness lol ❤❤❤❤🙈🙉🙊❤❤❤❤❤
Who's the mowning women in the background sound.
Arms big long.
wow this wasn't her first rodeo:-*
The baby look like human.
Awesome god help each other
I think she ate bloody bits of her umbilical cord..
yoyoism they do it so the y don't attract predators from the blood and the cord
To old videos
Compared to a different breed ape there was much more mothering..kissing the baby and such.
Was it dead? 😢😰😓
Eve Ca!n no the baby isn’t dead he was just born so he won’t move because the mom will carry him around.
Unbelievable delivery! God's way is amazing! I just know that I know nothing, thank you my heavenly Father.
Miriam Maldonado ugh, always one
Sad place for a birth to take place
Love it when the vermin yelled from the cord stepped on do it again.
They are not "vermin." They are gibbons.
She could have killed that baby the way she stomped on the cord. Horrible.
You do know This is an animal birth and not human and this is how they do it. Pretty sure they don't have access to clamps!!
