These brilliant people are the epitome of what's characterized Australians for the get go, the whole "Fair Go" mentality. When he said he was lucky enough to work with 2 Lovely brothers, I choked up a bit, thinking how great to hear that. This was a very engaging and a major Geek win to watch. Loved it!
I could not agree more, so inspiring!
@@thestig5020 What?! It is *not* a prison. You idiot. It had penal colonies (Or very large prison like communities.) in two states - in the 1800s! _Regardless_ of that, "in fairness" or not, that remains irrelevant to how talkative these men are in *2023.* You idiot. The decisions of Politicians are not the singular reason to stop anybody going to Australia, famous for it beaches and coral reefs, regardless of *submarines!* You idiot.
@2:50 I love how he characterizes the gyro as "grabbing and holding on to the boat". I've been facinated by gyros and how they work since I was a little kid and I think that's the best description of a gyro at work I've ever heard.
agreed, I felt the same way
I agree. I don't think that I've heard it described like that before, but it makes perfect sense and it's easy to understand. I studied conservation of angular momentum in, I think, the first year of my engineering degree and I still understand it. I'm also a life-long sailor who has raced off-the-beach sailing boats and who has spent many holidays on motor yachts. This whole episode has been fascinating to me. Very well presented.
I spent a week last year on a friend's 50+ ft bridge deck, ketch rigged cruiser, sailing around the Whitsundays I had the usual fin-type stabilizers for when the boat is moving, and it also had flopper stoppers for when the boat's at anchor. We didn't need to use the fin stabilizers at any time - none of us minded some lively motion. We only used the flopper stoppers one night when it got a bit rocky. There was an almost immediate reduction in the side-to-side motion. Very effective, and they work when the boat rocks.
What an interesting episode. Veem guys are such soft spoken gentlemen. I love seeing that in a family business that is so successful and could be very arrogant. Thanks you two for educating your followers every week.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the kind words!
oops lol lol
As an ex foundry owner and an Aussie I am so proud of these blokes. Quite chuffed.
😝😂🎉🎉
No f Australian accent here.
I learned a new word today. ‘Chuffed. ” 😊
Has to be your best video yet IMO.
Incredible manufacturing and family history.
Wow, thanks! 🙏🏻🎉🎉
Do VEEM not supply bearing yachts with stabilisers Malc
Absolutely fantastic video of a comforting product for the marine industry. The on the water demonstration of gyro ON and then gyro OFF was eye-opening. The ability to calm the seas is very much appreciated by non-sea leg passengers. Will you have one of these on your Bering?
So glad you enjoyed it... wish we knew about these big ones 2 years ago, we would have totally found a space for it
I can believe it. I wouldn't want to build without one.
I'm sure your seakeeper is up to the job. @@NautiStyles
Unfortunately we learned too late about Veem, we will on our next boat.
Glad you guys posted this video...please do one on long range Ips drive engines versus propeller.
Cool video, coming from a stream of captains in my family down here in South Louisiana we take gyro technology seriously. I love the back story--- so inspiring!!!
Very cool! Thank you for taking the time to comment
Nice to see an Aussie company doing great things. And seeing you two coming down under to show the world. Hope you both enjoyed your trip to Australia 😊
We certainly did - beautiful country
🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Terrific content!! Previously I’ve never heard of Veem, now I am fabulously impressed by a new understanding of the size capable of gyros. You two are really stepping up your game for sure. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Music to our ears! We don't step outside of our yacht walkthrough element on this channel too often, but somtimes we just feel it would be so fun to show you guys what's out there - for moments like this!
You guys never cease to inform and entertain. Thank you thank you thank you. Very cool. Love it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank youuuuuu
I learned so much about gyros for the boating industry. Thanks so much.
🎉🎉
The MOST interesting video I have seen in a long time.
music to our ears!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Just when I thought I've seen the best NautiStyles episode...
You guys really outdo yourselves!
ooowwww thank youuu
Gyros have been around a very long time but these are on a completely different level. It's amazing how they settle a boat down even in the open ocean.
right? cool stuff
The energy produced is incredible !
Had the privilege to experience this on 53 hcb sueno.
Amazing. Even in big waves it stops the rough pitch, makes it soft.
🎉🎉🎉
One of the best videos you guys have done. Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Great video. It felt like I was watching an actual program on the Discovery Channel. Very informative.
Wow, thanks!
Yeah. My favorite is How Its Made.
This was better .
2nd Nauti video of the morning! It’s a nice start to the day.
Morning! 🎉🎉🎉
I started this vid on my phone.A few minutes in ,i switched to the big screen .this was a pleasure to watch.
Very informative. Thank you for it.
awesome, thank you
Fascinating video!
Thanks to Veem and Nauti Styles as always for making it.
Thank you too!
Great video you guys! I love all your content, but this one gave me a great sense of pride and joy, and re-kindled some fond memories of back in the nineties when I was a courier truck driver for a local transport company here in Perth, and I use to cart quite a lot of products out of Veem's then main facility and foundry in Canningvale.
Of the most memorable consignments I transported for Veem, was stabilizer fins prop shafts and propellers down to Austal Ships in Henderson for the naval border control frigates they were building at the time.
It was always a great experience dealing with the staff and crew whenever I went to Veem, and I am sooo happy and proud that they continue to grow and expand their awesome company and top quality products for the world to enjoy!
ooowww how awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful memories with us!
Put me on that list of geeks. I love this type of content.
🥳🙌🏼 shout out to all the Tech Geeks out there! 👏🏼👏🏼
Great episode! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍 Go VEEM and eliminate seasickness! 👍👍
right? I'm onboard! pun intended lol
@@NautiStyles 👍👍🤣🤣
I know Brad Miocevich. VEEM was a tiny engineering company in Perth which is a long way from major markets. VEEM have won business from NASA and other major organisations in the USA and Europe. Very impressive organisation
🎉🎉🎉
I had no idea they make gyros as large "Big Boy". In the case of gyro stabilization it can be said size makes all the difference in the world. I knew cruise ships didn't use stabilizers, but no idea why. Thank you both, this was truly eye-opening.
right? we learned so much as well
Cruise ships do use stabilisers but not gyro ones.
That explains everything I wanted to know about that technology. Good job!! Thanks
You're welcome! 🎉🎉🎉
Watching the gyro sway is way more amusing to me
then it should be. 😗
lol
You guys - I'm not sure if Rico is shooting with a new higher quality camera, or if I'm just noticing it's clarity for the first time. So cool!!!!!
are you watching on TV or Phone?

These big gyro's are so very impressive. We made small gyro's at the company I worked for almost all of my working life!! I am proud of the Aussies for all the fancy stuff they do lately!!
Throughly enjoyed! Wonderful to discover a Family Aussie company flourishing and thriving! The Gyros ARE fascinating, what an amazing product, an eye and mind fest to see a gyro in action! Congratulations to the Veem family and company! Thanks NautiStyles! 👏🐨🎉
What a amazing story of a family that built such a fascinating business. Plus they are really nice people.
I could not agree more
Count me amongst the geeks who watch your channel. Great video. Impressive. One thing about gyros as opposed to stabilizers- less maintenance
Good point! Thank you
Thanks! You and Rico make such a great team. There was a lot of gyro info that I wasn't aware of that was clearly presented and explained. Good job guys!
Appreciate you 💙🙏
Fantastic to see Veem getting the coverage it so richly deserves! Definitely the quiet achievers and really pleased that you have had them on the channel. Pity in some ways that you didn't have more footage of hammering along in the boat - at full tilt it is like having a tunnel of water around you when you're in that rear cockpit - a special experience.
Couldn't agree more!
Truly excellent video, loved it, thanks to Veem for collaborating!! Did you also visit Riviera, Whitehaven on the east coast? If you get to NZ, there are some fantastic boat makers there too.
generally we say go hard or go home...when you come back to OZ, go and cruise the Kimberleys, a great boating wilderness.
Yes, we also visiting Riviera ShipYard and will have a very cool video about it coming soon as well
Fabulous video! Thank you! Watched it again and I still love it.
Great video and an inspiration in so many ways. From putting in your own boat to great business acumen and learning. Well done V and R ❤
Thank you so much!
You two are AWESOME!! Thanks again for another GREAT video!! Cheers!!
Wow, this is my first comment on this channel. I must say that is one of my most favorite. Thank you
Sweeeet!
This was great on the gyros. Will you next do a deep dive vid, like this, on their propeller division? Thank you.
Would you like to see it? We did film so amazing “top secret” content 🙈😝
Thank you so much! I've had quite a number of questions bouncing around in my head about gyro systems for boats. I think this video answered all of them. So grateful!
Fantastic, just what we want to hear!
Great video! So informative and enjoyable. Thanks for putting the effort in to make this.
🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you for taking the time to comment
Very interesting presentation Victoria n Rico... top shelf stuff - Thank You !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Extremely chuffed that you did this video. It was interesting and as an Aussie it makes me very proud of what we are doing in the maritime field. More like this please.
Great editing when you're on the boat talking about the bearings... your cuts went perfectly with his hand motions! I could hardly tell they were there!!
Thanks 👍
Love the products and the family story. Great factory tour!
Thank you so much, isn’t it such an inspiring story?
What an absolutely fascinating episode, I loved it and learned so much. Great to see you both again!
So glad!
VERY interesting video; MORE of these, please! Exploring various aspects related to yachting, getting beyond just specs and tours (which ARE wonderful, and appreciated fully as well) really moves you further into Edu-tainment and broadens your appeal, while expanding your exposure and consequential following...
wow! Thank you for the feedback
Great story showcasing a great Aussie family doing great things. I live on the other side of Australia so not easy to see without the virtual tour. Understated cutting edge engineering taking it to the big boys.!
Go get em Veem! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for showing so many great Australian manufacturers
Our pleasure!
Absolutely the best episode yet! Loved the info and the human side.
Watching the laid back attitude but totally professional Veem team makes me proud to be Australian (and my partner's Croatian). I now know more about gyros than I thought possible. Thank you for a brilliant vlog guys!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🥳🥳
So Wise , Thank You . A fine example of the state of the art . Another Fine tour, So glad that you were able to get this tour . Thank You for showing us this example a Well Run Corperation
So glad to hear you guys enjoy this kind of deep dive content
Another EXCELLENT video 1st the subwoofers and sound system now this I love seeing superyachts but this is what makes the 2 of you and your channel special!!!!!!!!!!!
Awwww thank you for the kind word
I am so excited to see YOUR yacht. After all your tours, all the best stuff, putting in to your yacht. I can't wait to see yours!!!
😝🥳🥳🥳
Great video. Great line of questioning. Super interesting. Cheers!
I really really welcome these kinds of videos, which are interesting and educational at the same time. Would really like to see more of those from time to time - explaining different systems of the boat. Not on a level that an engineer would need to design one, but explained detailed enough that an enthusiast aspiring to be an owner-operator one day can say "OK, I understand now how this subsystem works".
Wow easily the most interesting video you've ever done. Thanks so much for this upload. This was fascinating. These guys really know their stuff and explained everything so well. This is next level. Almost felt like a really engaging introductory uni lecture. Loving this kind of content from you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Jeez!! Now I can get rid of that silly gimbal stove, nail in a big house stove and go chase deep ocean storms. Yippee.
lol
This is the most in-depth video I have ever seen on the gyro systems. I really enjoyed getting a better understanding of how they operate and create stabilization. Thanks again for making such a great video.
It’s truly our pleasure 🙏🏻
I think Veem also make some special propellers as well, I had Veem propellers on my Fairline Phantom where one can adjust pitch with some nylon strips.😊
that's 100% right - interceptor strips
What a fantastic learning experience you have brought us. I had no idea that something like this even existed. And it's just been fascinating. I'm one of the geeks. I just soaked it up like a sponge
Our pleasure! So excited to know you guys are appreciating this type of "geeky" content!
@@NautiStyles in my case, pretty much everything you two present to us is appreciated. even the birds in Australia. Ha!
Very captivating episode. Definitely would enjoy more like this.
Wow great to see it in action what a great machine thanks for the demo to all of you
Its great to see you here in by us I enjoyed this one very much and hope you had a great time in Australia, hope to see you both doing more down under cheers
This is such a great story. Well done VEEM.

Yep, I know it was an Aussie who told you to say" go big or go home" , glad to see you enjoying your stay in Oz, just between you me and the bed post, australia wants to adopt you both.❤. We are holding a referendum, yes or no to adopting the Nauties, my vote is YES. 528 to you both.
😝😝😝 we loved Australia, will be back for sure! go big or go home was my own as it felt just right for the moment
Yea I'll vote yes to😊
Fantastic video. Love the technical detail and glad to mee the Veem Team. For those in the US who see this team as unusual, there are many businesses in Australia like this where a client relationship is more important that a quick profit. Thanks you NautiStyles for the video and thankyou VeemTeam for just being you.

Happy to hear that!
This is absolutely fascinating.
Australia has it's fair share of very smart Engineers producing world class products, I'm so happy you featured VEEM Marine and showcased their amazing products, these guys are very humble with what they have created, you're comment about if this was in America, the difference is in Australia we are well known for being the quiet achievers, let the engineering and product speak for itself, thanks for coming to Aus, hope you enjoyed your trip, 🍺🍺🦘🦘
fantastic video. go Australia 🙃 well done Guys , going to go a long way with this
Thank you!!
Clever & innovative equipment. No wonder they so good. Great video V & R x

Thank you for this one.
More like this would be great. Nautical design and engineering is fascinating.

As always, another great video. You two make me so made. Only because now I wished that I never sold my dad's yacht after he passed away. He had a Hatteras convertible 55 footer with a full tuna tower. Two 12 cylinder diesel cat engines. I had to go to school just to learn about everything in the cockpit. I took it a few times to the Bahamas, my own cruise ship. But since I had no passport I could not step on land. But I still loved it. It could sleep me and my girlfriend plus her family members, they had passports. I always had a blast on it, catching some real good tasting fish. Fresh fish for dinner every night. My dad taught me how to pilot his yacht. Just like he taught me how to drive and use his tag axel diesel pusher RV. Now that I sold just a few years ago. The only thing I hated was when the coast guard would stop me and do a inspection. Guess they thought that I was running drugs. But they never found anything on board, except my prescription drugs, with my name on the bottles. Plus my stainless steel weapons. My Colt gold cup 45 and my Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun. Better to be safe then sorry. The 45 I wore in a shoulder holster. Still have that 45. The shotgun I left on the yacht when I sold it. Keep up the great work
that's for sharing
