Im excited for the return of Jiri Prochazka. He doesnt come out often and he doesn’t fight alot but man i really like him and i respect his character. He is a real life samurai! He is so cool and he hasnt had a boring fight yet in the UFC. There isnt that much buzz around this fight and light heavyweight has been a pretty quiet division for a while, but man this fight is very interesting. Im very excited to see how this rematch will play out honestly. Im not the “nobody” Chael is referring to

He was extremely active before the UFC. He joined right after Jones gave up the belt. If I were in his position (new to the ufc), I would’ve done exactly what he did. Knock out a couple ranked guys to prove you belong, then wait till you get the title shot in a chaotic division. Fight less, take minimal damage, and still get the belt. Smart move lol

I think part of why people aren’t talking as much is because people are focused on Izzy vs pereira this week. That being said, I just rewatched jiri vs glover last night and I can not WAIT for the rematch, and the rest of that card is completely stacked. Buckley, Curtis, till, paddy, Raul rosas, lawler, and there’s even more in probably not remembering. I definitely think the excitement will start to sink in once 281 is over
I wouldn’t exactly count on Till showing up but yeah it’s a really good card with no women’s fights as long as all the best matchups hold up

I thought it was a great fight when I first saw it but after hearing you keep bringing it up over the rest of the year I finally rewatched it the other night and holy shit…it was an INCREDIBLE fight! They both nearly finished each bother several times.

UFC 282 is struggling from 3 things
1. UFC 281 has huge anticipation
2. There was huge anticipation that we'd get a resolution the HW situation with this card and it's looking very unlikely now.
3. Islam vs. Volk for UFC 284 sucked a ton of attention away from everything post UFC 280
I suspect once 281 is in the books we'll start hearing more about UFC 282 as there are likely some instant classics on that card.

Bc Jan had title defenses but no instant rematch gifted; PLUS, Europe would go CRAZY for a Jiri vs Blachowicz super fight.
Ppl have been so stressed with everything, the continent could have used a day of reprieve.
Unfortunately Jan is an honorable man and felt he had to earn getting his belt back. He called out Jon Jones multiple times, they even had that moment when Jan won and was pointing at Jon when he first got the belt.
His really bad day at the office vs Glover was so underwhelming that ppl forgot.

No one cares because it is not warranted. Just because Glover was winning it until he got finished doesn't mean he gets immediate rematch. He did not defend the title even once. Jiri vs Jan would have been much better. Yes the first match was fight of the year but that doesn't mean we repeat it. Imagine if Glover wins now. Won't there be an immediate trilogy ? Simply halts the division's movement.
