  • Part of the goal for our channel is to promote everyone riding the ride that works for them. If it is time to give up 2 wheels, how about considering going to 3 wheels. Melissa's husband shares his feelings about his experience of needing to go from 2 to 3 wheels.
    Mothers Day and Fathers Day = Family and Motorcycles.

    In this video, Melissa also shares the new parts that are added to the motorcycle (finally) -- new handle bars, mufflers and heated hand grips--and she shares why she names her motorcycles and what that name of her new motorcycle is.

    I was hesitant to go to three wheels but I did it so my wife can ride with me. We both enjoy our Trike and really don’t care about what others say. As long as we are having fun, that’s all that matters. I’m glad I listen to her cause I recently started having hip problems and now I need to have hip replacement surgery. Once I recover we are going to be back on the road having fun.

      That is awesome that you can ride... and I totally agree that it does not matter what others think as long as we love what we are doing. Yes, three wheels keeps us out there. For me, I can go by myself without fear of dumping a two wheel and not be able to get it back up on my own.

    I have about 58yrs under my Belt on two wheels, I am now going to be 76yrs on Nov 3,23 and I sold my last Bike 3 weeks ago and I feel like I just lost my soul! I have been thinking about 3 wheels and this thought is with me 24/7 I think I am just going to go for it and hope the good Lord gives me a few more good years of riding before I have to show up for his roll call, of which I fear NOT! Palsms 23 PS you guys are awesome, be safe and many Happy Trails.

    In 2020 on a trip from the back of the dragon to Maggie Valley my wife and I laid our bike down we still had 200 miles to go to our hotel the bike had cosmetic damage but unfortunately my wife had major road rash I had minor road rash but we continued our trip my wife is a warrior when we got home I fixed the bike but I noticed my wife just didnt want to ride as much and her nerves were shot so we decided to get a tri glide this year we have no regrets I love it and my wife feels much more comfortable and that is what's important to me

    I always enjoy your insight concerning the trikes and I really enjoyed your husband sharing his story. I personally ride both a 2020 Tri-Glide and a 2021 Road King Special. My wife does not feel comfortable on two wheels but loves to backpack on the Tri-Glide. So, I have the best of both worlds. I love them both and I'm seriously considering the Road Glide 3, which is definitely the best looking trike on the road. Also, I have hopes that my wife will bite the bullet and learn to ride the Tri-Glide on her own. No luck with that yet ! LOL But for now I love that we can spend time together on the trike and its a ton of fun. Great content keep it up.

    • @MidLifeStyleTwins
      @MidLifeStyleTwins  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Agree, the RG3 is the best looking 3 wheel option. I hope your wife will learn to ride, I am so glad I ride...there is nothing like the freedom and since of power out on the open road it provides. If she can snuggle up to you and that makes her happiest, then that is OK too...just doing something together that you love is so important. God Bless you... stay safe out there and Thanks so much for watching.

    I am 37... Thinking of buying an RG3 or Freewheeler. I am new to riding (currently on CanAm Ryker to learn). The reason I prefer 3 wheels is because of the stability, the fact that I can be slightly more relaxed having my wife with me and I don't care about leaning. I just love the open world experience. I hate that so many bikers refer to three wheelers as something for people of the wise age or with any kind of disability.
    I do think that trikes are awesome as any other bike.
    I get waves from Harley Riders all the time, surprisingly more than from any other riders.
    Trikes are great!

    I have an Indian Challenger already and I just bought a 23 Tri-Glide Ultra. Picked it up yesterday. Got it for the same reason as others who’ve posted - to ride with my wife. She’s recovering from knee replacement surgery so it’ll be a few weeks before she can swing a leg over. Got the silver/gray model and am trying to come up with a decent name for her as well. Thanks for your videos. I’ve recently discovered your channel and have been trying to catch up 😁. Appreciate everything you put into your videos. I really like the part about saying a prayer every time you waive at another biker. That’s so awesome, I’ll need to start doing that myself. May God bless you and your family.

      Wow, congratulations on the 23 Tri-Glide...so happy for you! Yep, after my husbands accident, I said NOPE to 2 wheels and would never ride with him again on one (and I used to own my own 2 wheels). The trike was such a great option. So comfortable and easy to relax on. It did not take me long to take it over though LOL... Yes, I am so glad @donniewieburg shared that about using the motorcycle wave to pray for others. Not quite sure why I never thought about that before; we all need prayer and especially those out on those crazy roads. Anyway, maybe we can start a thing with that.... spread the word. God bless you and safe riding out there!! Wish I could see pictures of that new Triglide of yours.

    Thanks for your informative videos. This episode hit close to home, since I have made it to 71 years, I have lost strength in my legs and recently dropped my 2020 Heritage Classic twice in the same day. I had wrecked my Road Star back in 2016 and that made me start looking for lighter bikes since the Road Star weighed in at over 800#, hence the lighter Heritage. But because of the reduced strength and balance, I have recently been looking at trikes. I have ridden off and on since I was 14 and just can't give it up. I named my Heritage 'Mercy N Grace' because God brought me through my accident and I feel like God is always with me no matter what road I travel. Thank you and keep up the great videos.

    Glad i ran across this video with the Rider's perspective. I'm in my early 70s and have been riding for 55 yrs both street and dirt. Due to some unexpected health issues I don't have the physical strength like before and slow/stopped balance challenges me especially with psgr. Been thinking of a trike (conversion) and hearing of both your positive outlooks is encouraging. I don't care what others think, rather how will I adapt to not counter-steering thru the twisties. Anyway good video. Just heard new HD trikes have a longer shock to give more working room to reduce solid axle bounce. My best. ALRider.

    I'm an identical twin, 51 year old female, and a native South Carolina girl!! I also ride a motorcycle. I've enjoyed your videos, and your husband's words about going from 2 wheels to three. I have arthritis in both thumbs, but especially in my left thumb and could no longer clutch without excruciating pain. My husband bought me the Honda Rebel 1100 dct 2 months ago, and I couldn't love her more!!! My husband rides a Harley, and we'd planned on me getting a Heritage...but, with some sadness I reconciled that if I was gonna continue to ride ( and I've only just started a yearago) I'd have to go with a dct. My Rebel is no slouch, she gets like a scalded cat!!! The cornering is wonderful...it took some getting used to not feeling like I was forgetting something. I'd check everything on the bike, all was well...then I'd realize it was the clutching that I was missing! I don't miss it anymore! I know some will say that's not a motorcycle if you're not clutching, but like your husband said, this is a motorcycle. The clutch still happens whether in automatic or in manual using "quick shift" styled paddles using my thumb and index finger on left hand. I love her!!! God bless, and ride safe!!! As long as we're still on wheels in the open air living the ride, then keep riding your ride!!!

We're so excited about being able to ridetogether, God willing. She's an RN also, she works on a PIC line team for Prisma, so her thumbs get really irritated after a few days of that. I do agree it takes a few to get use to 3, I did like the stability of the ride not having to worry about dropping it in very tight switch backs. But.. as I mentioned when we talked at Low Country I just didn't like the way it handled the bumps which your husband mentioned. That was after replacing the rear suspension on it, and probably could have done the front and see if that would have helped but I was already thinking of trading it in by then.
    Leaving Friday afternoon for my 16 day trip out west. Can't wait..

    I enjoyed this video, especially for the chance to see the two bikes in different colors and on the road. I'm getting ready to buy a new Road Glide 3 and I'm still undecided about color. I don't like real flassy colors. I told myself I'd never buy a black vehicle after owning a couple and struggling to keep it scratch free. I really like your blue bike. The grey is nice but I think it's overdone with all these grey cars and trucks on the road. It seems to be a trendy color, but trendy colors get old with time. I don't think that blue will get old. And, it's a nice tone of blue - not too dark and not too light. Anyway, thanks for posting this video, and the photography was well done.

      Congratulations on your new purchase. I have been riding three wheels since 2017 and I find absolutely no problems riding on the interstate. In fact because of the destinations, I usually am on interstates most of the time. My husband going from two wheels to three wheels feels like there’s a little bit of vibration, but that’s because it is a totally different ride from the two wheels. After being out on three wheels for over a year now, he does not seem to have any problems with that feel. I absolutely love the ride and I love my RG3. Thank you so much for your views and for responding. Stay safe out there and God bless you.

    65 and been on two wheels since a teen riding dirt bikes then transitioning to street. Went to a 2021 Tri Glide for long and or 2 up riding due to breaking my ankle skydiving then a few years later had a heavey block of metal crush it. So it occasionally just gives out from time to time and the Ultra with my wife on it got to heavy to trust that my ankle wouldn’t give out. I do have an old Fat Boy for local solo riding. I think this RG3 is a great sporty looking motorcycle and rides great. Sorry for the late reply (I just got home from a 16 days trip on the RG3...it was awesome). As far as how it would fit someone 6ft 6 in...I will try to find someone that tall and ask them if they would sit on my motorcycle to see if it would fit. Maybe a tall boy seat and road pegs so you could stretch your legs would be great. I find I have to lean forward a little, so if I had longer arms I would not have to do that. I hope this helps. I went from a 2 wheel to 3 with a 2016 Tridglide and then later to a 2022 Triglide. The trike is ok for a short ride or a 90 minute ride on the freeway, but longer rides or rides with lots of curves leave me with neck and shoulder pain. I have stock handlebars and been planning to get taller ones. The bars are inexpensive but the installation is not. The buzz is that the stock road glide 3 is "much" lighter steering than the stock triglide. I'm unsure if it is that much different, "Over the years I have purchsed many golf clubs promising increased driving distance. At this point if the claims were true I should be hitting my driver over 300 yards and always straight......not happening." You found considerable different results in switching the handlebars, but what what about the trikes? I like the storage room on the triglide but would give it up if there was that much steering improvement on the Road glide 3,...your thoughts?

    • @MidLifeStyleTwins
      @MidLifeStyleTwins  Před 6 měsíci

      Sadly, the installation is costly...wish I knew how to do more work on the motorcycle myself to save money.
      I think the RG3 and the independent steering (from the fearing) is easier to handle. I am not sure if there is that big a difference in how it handles from a should/neck standpoint though. I rode 4100 miles in 16 days on this motorcycle in September and and had no neck or back pain. I am 57 years old and sometimes have back/neck pain though not horribly bad, but I cannot say I suffered at all on either of my long distance trips this year. I hope this helps.
