Turning the Gold and Gemstones I found into a beautiful Ring!!

- When i first discovered gold underwater years ago I was immediately hooked and it has now become a major part of my life and shaped the way in which I live it. As a young impressionable young man I was influenced by my pop who spoke of gold in the Mersey river where he owned land. I soon got myself a metal detector and set out to find myself large gold nuggets. The problem was I had no idea how to prospect at that age and soon lost interest. Twenty years later my wife got me hooked again after a successful fossicking trip in NE Tasmania. I returned home and researched the web for gold deposits and gold mining history in Tasmania and with the extra information now available online I was able to find my first few pieces of alluvial gold. I've always wanted to make a ring from the gold I've collected and that time has finally come.

My Grandfather was a fossicker, facetor and a self-taught jeweller. In his 97 years on this earth he found and then created one of a kind pieces for his family. I proudly wear a peridot and zircon ring he made for my Nan. I know exactly where and when he found the stones as they often told the story of this particular fossicking trip, including the friends they made and the food they cooked (my grandparents were amazing cooks). Each of my children have a stone found and faceted by their Great-grandfather especially for them in celebration of their births. The memories are the thing that makes these stones precious and priceless ❤️ As is the stunning ring that has been created for Louise.

I only just now watched the video about getting THE ring! It brought tears to my eyes. I know what it is to have a passion about something and see such wonderful experiences, accomplishments and brings love and a warm glow in your whole body every single day. Bravo for you, Levi and your lucky your wife REALLY supports you and how your children are included. A husband and father who let's say has a passion for golf. It is not an all inclusive family activity. For the better part of 30 years we went camping together over weekends, sitting around campfires, sharing our days fun. IRREPLACEABLE! Brilliant video , reminds of what I once had . I was in the same situation of what I had collected over 40 years of fossicking, stones , gold, this was taken from me when the safe I kept it in was stolen from a break in on our house. The most disappointing thing was that was 40 years of memories gone , so all you can do is get on with life and forget about what was once a thing I had . So well done Levi .
The best I've seen- shows the entire process, withholding nothing of the details! I have collected gems, faceted hundreds of them, and even formed gold and silver to set them in finished products. I must watch again, just for the joy of it all. Great job on the video!

Absolutely love this video! Those jewelry artists are so gifted. We take for granted just how much is involved in making a single piece of jewelry. You just pick a ring up, put it on your finger, and go home. Paying for it of course! But then complain about or shocked by the price tag.
