I think Den Fang's story is the most tragic bc he actually had close people he loved and cared for which he lost tragically and when he tried to save them he and his next life were punished for it😢
Yeah and the people he loved ended up mara struck so they arent even the people he used to know and resent him for it

He couldn’t have an actual human childhood, he sacrificed to save everyone, he made close friends, he watched jingliu cry over baiheng’s death and watch her and yingxing get mara struck before getting imprisoned and reincarnated only for an ironic loop to start again.
The three really had to pay a steep price. Blade lost his sanity, Jing Liu is struggling to hold herself together while Dan Heng suffered a lot. Thankfully he met the express crew and now he's with people he can trust and rely on.

@@Tina99999 the rough reality tho is that DHIL wont die. Jingliu will, Jing Yuan will, Blade supposedly found a way..but DHIL is destined to forever walk with the sins of his past ....long after there will bo no one else to carry it with him. You could call it a loop because nothign greally changed for Dan, and as a result all we can expect is the same results....him being willing to commit gave sins just to stop death from taking everoyne that matters, besides him.

Most beautiful animation I've ever seen. I especially love the detail of the strings that bind the High Elder to every other one, showing how they have to live with not just their own memories, but the memories of their past lives.
I feel bad for all the past Imbibitor Lunaes. The life of a High Elder is a tragic one.
And then the strings becoming chains when he's in the Shackling Prison!! I hope Dan Heng is really breaking free from all the past burdens he has from his life as High Elder
I had so many damn feelings welling up but seeing Bailu at the end set off the tears - this horrific cycle isnt actually over, is it? Its just restarting with her now that Dan Heng is the first free member of his own reincarnation line
And what a horrific cycle it is, you did such a fantastic job of showing the true tragedy of this system of reincarnating but never treating this one person as, well, a person in their own right at all let alone a new individual each time as their culture is supposed to 😭

both Dan Heng and Bailu are the high elders, the power of Dan Feng was split between Dan heng (Dan Fengs reincarnation) and Bailu (Baihengs reincarnation, after the sin that Dan Feng commited to turn her into a vidiyahardara)
Dan Heng has destruction, namely shwon is his power to break the seal, while Bailu has to power to heal and forge? shown was she recreated the seal.
and their respective paths are also destruction and abundance afterall

It hurts so bad seeing how the tableau depicting how the Vidyadhara reincarnation cycle is SUPPOSED to work was integrated into this display of how that very tradition was violated for how this one person was treated. "All destined for different skies" while showing the threads entangling every life from before birth especially felt so wrong...

remember the vidyadhara that said he’d make the best snacks for Imbibitor Lunae?? His future reincarnation gave Bailu her snack, I guess he sorta fufilled his promise, even if it’s not the same Imbibitor Lunae he thought of.
This was beautiful, thank you for making this. The High Cloud Quintet lore is my favorite of the entire game. It's incredible to see it brought to life more.
I already knew the tragic lore of the high-cloud quintet but seeing it brought to life like this really punched me straight in the feels this was devastatingly beautiful and i shed a few tears when caelus grabbed dan hengs hand and his new family was ready to welcome him aboard the express
I only have one thing to say... I had so many emotions in a single animation that it is really incredible
This is why Dan Feng just wants to escape because no matter how many times he reincarnates the mantle of High Elder will never not be over his head.

I already sad thru the main quest, then IL quest teared me up, even when Jingliu's quest makes me cry inside, I guess all of them stuck in the past, balde only wished to die from his suffering, jingliu counting herself before she lose her mind, danheng tried to run but he's stuck by his own chain, any choice he could do his best is always turn bad on their own way each time, he felt guilty in all his sequences, even the sad jingyuan despite his carefree personality is broken at the time, he can't help his friends, he can't also abandoned xianzhou at the time, even when blade asked jingliu to kill himself, he's just standing there in silent, the inly thing he can't let go is his spear, which is made from yingxing, long when they're still the high cloud quintet, I know jingyuan longed the past but it can't since then....
