- The Blink Video Doorbell is a budget friendly smart home security option with a night vision camera, up to two years of battery life (with the Sync Module 2), cloud storage and similar features to more premium devices from Nest, Hive and Ring. Here we setup the Blink Video Doorbell and tour the best features, using the app as well as Alexa support - and thanks to Blink for sponsoring this video!
You can grab your very own video bell right here: bit.ly/3OhTTDc
If you want to boost your smart home setup with a proper security option, this is certainly one of the most affordable ways to do it. Set up is super simple, with full instructions and illustrations provided by that Android app. The Blink Video Doorbell can then stream a live feed of any callers straight to your smartphone, wherever you happen to be in the world.
You have two-way communications, so you can chat with delivery people and ask them to leave a parcel somewhere safe. You also get the option of saving video clips to the cloud or a USB stick, so you can review them later. The Blink Video Doorbell really does boast a lot of features for this budget price.

I have a blink on the back door( Its more of a security thing) and a Ring pro on the front door. The blink is a great doorbell, not as much fancy stuff as the pro but a great doorbell. Get the Sync Module and go subscription free. You can also set motion zones with the blink. I have a new one in the box as a spare i like it so much. I'm in UT so we get really cold weather and snow here and the blink did great but i did have to replace the batteries 1 time in the past 11 months.
You uh, could've just got a normal blink camera which actually works quite well and has better camera quality than the doorbell
is the night vision decent?
I purchased this to receive my ring piece door knobber because it was having a childish hissy fit and refused to connect.
The blink has already saved me £23 per your in subscription.
And it does what it's supposed to .
A good thing I found was that you can set the zones it moniters so if next doors cat is in my garden having a number 2 it won't notify me of the cats whereabouts.
You need to add the doorbells sync module before you add the door bell. Thought this'd possibly help
I got one of these and 2 outdoor cameras on Prime day ( saving 50% ) only because Ring were not doing a doorbell and camera bundle. Should have watched some reviews first but overall im happy with it now its set up. Didn't want a subscription model version so got the one with the Sync 2 and a 128gb sandisk memory stick. The only issue I keep finding is on an Iphone the lag on the app is ridiculous and very often when you want to make a change to either the doorbell or the cameras it fails to update camera or times out. Apart from that I don't think there is a better system especially for the money I paid out on mine. For anyone else, check out some comparison videos as there are a lot of video doorbells and wireless cameras out these days and with wildly different prices and availability in different regions its a bit of a minefield
Finally someone that I can trust with these reviews.😍😍😍😍 Love the vid
It's a sponsored video
Trust its a paid for promotion I had 1 an returned it the same day utter rubbish flimsy product
Can this be permanently recording to a CF card. Thanks. Love your style. Easy to follow.
Would be best to see a comparison between the Blink and Eufy systems
I’m impressed by it for the cost £50 inc sync module, but cannot get it to display video on my echo show 5 or fire tv sticks.
Thanks for info do it continue to record are only when someone comes close to it
So is there no option for an wireless door chime that you can plug somewhere in your house like other camera bundles offer?
Fantastic device.. advanced door bell.
When you have blink cloud the clips backup once a day to local storage but are only viewable by ejecting the usb storage device and opening them on your pc not available through the app unless you cancel the cloud subscription with no cloud subscription clips are stored on the sync module 2 usb storage but canceling cloud subscription you lose live video recording and hourly clips
I have the original blink camera with the first sync module. Will I have to buy module 2 or can I use my original one for this doorbell?
I'm just looking now into buying this.. but I'm confussed about the Sync Module .. do I need it.. what does it actually do.. as I was going to buy the same doorbell but on its own without the sync module.. which do I buy.. x
Super 😍
Is this blink video doorbell motion detector too. Does it start recording when some one outside without pressing the door bell
Any idea of the maximum distance between doorbell and sync module or WiFi? My front gate has a very weak WiFi signal. Can't seem to find anything to confirm this..
Can this be used with the ring plug that is used for ring wired doorbell
"You scruffy oof" 😆😆 add that to the classics!
Any chance you can post your trail device to me (money a little tight!)
Door bell isn't connecting with the Blink sync 2. Can you help?
Good one
Alexa: someone is at the front door... It's a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101... I'm letting it in
Me. "I'll be back", (after he's gone )
I can't speak can you set set up audio responses? Also can you stick it to the door?
Its a budget because after the trial plan that comes with it its a garbage because it wont record any videos anymore until you purchase a plan from them. This feature is suppose to come with it once you purchase the doorbell since they want to leech through your pocket they want you to pay monthly.
This is incorrect. He did not do a great job explaining the snyc device.
This is an addition and not needed if you have a subscription. But if you don't want a subscription and you want to store recordings and view them later, then you will need to buy a sync device.
The sync will act as a home server and will store recorded footage on a USB thumb drive.
These videos are accessible through the app or by pulling out the USB.
You do not need a subscription if you have the sync.
That's seems to tick my boxes, a security device that uploads the data away from the house, I'm not concerned as its not recording inside my house, so who cares if Amazon can see me opening and closing the door.
@@dannnyqu tha k you for this explanation
Another reviewer states it works on 2.5 g mifi not 5g ?? Is this correct does anyone know as virgins latest hub is 5g ...not sure if you can spilt it
@@dannnyqu thank you for telling us.
I don't have alexa or dots, does this need a internet connection for operation (as opposed to setup). Can it be pared with your cell phone?
How come you didn't explain what the sync module is or is for?
He is being paid to advertise the bell.
Ring customers annoyed at a 43% price increase are looking for alternatives.
Tens of thousands of customers have cancelled which has put ring in more financial trouble than before their sale. Old products were just not selling, now they have put themselves out of business and will be gone in 2years.
Nice. Is it able to record video on phone?
Does this work even if the no one rings the doorbell?
Is there a downward wedge available, to be able to film more of the pathway rather than the sky?
I just got ring doorbell in the Amazon day sale
I've got a really ugly postman, does this come with filters?
What is to stop someone ripping it off your door, I live in a very unfriendly area
can you speak through the app if you away on vacation ? like talk through it if someone knocks on
the door
great product. the only issue I have is that it doesnt have an indoor chime. and I dont want to use the mini cam as one. thanks.
I got one of these on Prime Day, the app is responsive and quick but I’m not sure about the quality of the image. I’ve gone from a nest doorbell and having the ability to have the video come up on the echo devices is really what they should have implemented from the start. I was going to get the Ring Doorbell the only think I like about the Blink is the amount of time it records for. I’m not sure if I will be keeping it 😟
Me too, also got 2 Blink outdoor cameras as an alturnative to a wired ( and expensive security camera setup ).
How long does it take for a video to come up on your echo screen after the button is pressed on the doorbell?
i saw in another video that you cannot access live view from your phone if you re in the wireless setting. is this true ?
Can you watch a live view without ringing it??
Got one for parents for xmas and tbh i am not impressed at all, the live video feed is laggy and not actually real time its a bit off. the video feed for live also takes a moment to start too. night vision is pants and its raining right now and you can not see a thing due to the lens being covered in water. think i may return it....UPDATE returned it and got a ring doorbell 3 with the chime pro...it's been perfect
If you aren’t home can you still see through the doorbell?
Me: goes into CZcams after work expecting a phone based video by Chris......
Sheesh even doorbells are smart nowadays!
Does it have live vieuw without being ringed
Hello can I still use this with batteries only
Why no chime function in the sync module??? 🤦
Can it be used with Xfinity internet?
I bought bell and sync module separately. First of all no angle mount. Secondly the app / system is hopeless, I get notification on Alexa devices but usually half an hour later on the phone so not very useful. Sadly this is my second doorbell to replace an equally useless winees doorbell.
Does blink have motion detection
I've heard that the device stops recording to the local storage when you are viewing the live feed!
If you don't have a subscription. Otherwise, with a sub, you get prompted to save the live view session. So you are somewhat right.
@@dr6124 Yeah it's silly really. One of the reasons why people would choose a doorbell camera with local storage is so they don't have to pay subscription. But because of the problem mentioned above you need a subscription for the local storage to work flawlessly!
Will it work with Google devices Chris?
Thanks!
I needed to read the reviews before i buy one.
oh christ... Chris has been in he bargain bucket at Woolworths again!
hi just some feedback when you show a device and it comes in multiple different colours could u say what colour one you have as i wasnt sure if this was the black model or the white model
thanks love your videos keep up good work
He did say he had the black one
How often do you have to change the batteries?
1:15
I think I'll stick with my eufy doorbell, no subscriptions with that!
So what will be the difference between the blink doorbell on its own, and buying it with the blink sync module please? I can't see that anyone has answered this question anywhere
Think of it like a wireless microphone, there is a receiver and a transmitter. The blink Sync module is like receiver and the doorbell is the transmitter.
Chris, doorbells?!
What’s battery life like real world ?
Why didn’t you show the night vision quality?
All your comments are being spammed - I assume you’ve reported to CZcams. Well presented video 👍.
I live in a mid-terrace that opens directly onto the pavement. That wouldn't last five minutes before it was nicked or knackered.
That’s your fault for living in a dodgy area though isn’t it. Move somewhere scum free.
I Blinked and missed it!
So does this thing require the cloud or can the app also be used in the local wifi? I refuse to buy anything than will cease to work once the vendor inevitably shuts down their service...
Amazon owns Blink so it won't be shut down at all.
by the time amazon shuts down the doorbell camera be well gone by then
Why would you make a video about this doorbell thing without mentioning the cost of the subscription? I think that's the main thing that everybody wants to know is if there is a charge for subscribing or is it free? I mean it just seems like common sense that you would have thought to mention this in the video.
Any one else had their dog jump up (at the dooebell sound) and and head towards the front door barking? - wouldn't mind but i`ve got the ring doorbell 3 - Bloody Yorkie
Does it record motion detection without doorbell being rung?
Yes
A very useful device and fancy too but what is to stop it from being the target of the theft?
It's 30 quid and will get damaged if not destroyed trying to remove it. Plus the risk of getting caught as it literally records you, just too much risk and no reward.
@@dr6124 I really hope that the thief will think of that, but then again if he or she can crack it then he has a reason to put a premium price on it.
It has a motion sensor so when someone walks up to your door that normally doesn't come to your house it will pick up the movement and alert you and you can then see who it is and the doorbell will also record them.
@@josephbennett3482 it doesn't discriminate between people. It will record ANYONE, not just "people that don't normally come to your door."
@@dr6124 I know that, what I'm saying is that if someone attempts to commit a crime such as destruction of property , theft , or both of those things then they will be captured on the video doorbell and the owner will have the footage as evidence to show police so they can be arrested.
Shame about the subscription for cloud storage
You can choose not to pay the subscription and it will record locally onto the sync2 module
So it's actually fish-eyed then as per your demo. It wasn't like that in the advert you showed. False advertising by the makers?
it's £80 quid thought it was going to be £30 quid when did £80 become budget????
u cant show videos from the AD and your looks not HD at all..... so sad that u just make an AD to something that is not good
Uncle Spurt pin this comment for no reason at all
Walter white 😳
Who spends 90quid on one round in a pub? I'd move if I were you.
First
I bought 1 and returned it the same day.
Product is flimsy no waterproof seal unlike the us version could be easily pulled off the wall. Truly awful product.
Never heard so much claptrap in my life, its battery life is about 2 weeks before warning of low battery and then 2 weeks before battery is exhausted, the doorbell triggers in sunlight! forcing you to reduce the sensitivity to a level where the doorbell will not trigger until someone is only 3-4 ft away. I tried getting the helpline help, what a joke, they now just ignore my multiple requests for help. DO NOT BUY
Most useless review. No details at all. Just "This is a doorbell". There so many aspects which are critical, but they aren't even mentioned in here. More like an ad rather than a review. Waste of time.
So you have no access to your doorbell recordings unless you have a subscription? It doesn't have local storage like sd cards? 🫤
