Colombia is the country with most bird species in the world thanks to its diversity in ecosystems. This country is divided in six natural regions, the Andean Region, the Pacific Region and the Caribbean region with their islands which corresponds to the Insular Region, the Orinoquia Region, and the Colombian Amazon Region. Each of these Colombian natural regions has unique landscapes, such as the Chocó rain forest in the Pacific, the multiple and drastic ecosystems in the Andes Mountains like the Seranía del Perijá or the Tatacoa Desert, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in the Caribbean Region, the Colombian savannas in the Llanos, and the Amazon Jungle. Colombia is a very special spot for birdwatching and birding tourism, because here you can find around 1,935 bird species, of which around 96 of them are endemic species and around 160 species of hummingbirds. Besides that, here in Colombia you can watch migratory birds that come from the rest of the American continent. That’s why Colombia has been occupying the first place in Global Big Day since 2017 and it is waiting for you to come and meet all bird species this country has.
