  • Dave Mason’s career spans half a century and encompasses producing, performing, and song writing. Fans and critics alike hail him as one of the most talented songwriters and guitarists in the world - which is why he is still performing over 100 shows a year to sold-out crowds.
Dave has been playing guitar most of his life. By 15, Dave had founded two bands: The Deep Feeling, and The Hellions. At 18, the Worcester, England native teamed up with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, and Chris Wood to form the legendary band Traffic. At 19, Mason penned the song “Feelin’ Alright”. The rock anthem, first recorded by Traffic and then covered by dozens of other artists (including Joe Cocker), cemented both Dave’s and Traffic’s legacy, and had a profound influence over rock music that continues today.

Just saw Dave on Saturday night and got to meet him briefly and he signed a few things for my wife. His set was fantastic and his current band was really impressive - including Mark Stein of Vanilla Fudge. Such a wonderful evening - I highly suggest people go see Dave (and many other artists from the 60s and 70s) while you have the chance.
    Great interview Sandy!

I was blessed to have lived in the SF Bay area in the late 60's through most of the 70's. I saw Dave and his band (Mike Finnagin, yeah!!) headline or open at Winterland and various clubs nearly a dozen times. A few of those times were 2 or 3 shows over a month or two time frame. Each time the "hits" or well known tunes he would explore took on new meaning. The arrangements both musically and spiritually would change and evolve, seeking new pathways, creating new insights for the players and audience alike...
    should we expect
    any more from an
    artist/musician!?!
Thank you Dave, your respect to the craft and the audience were and are exemplary ✌️

First Brit I've head who has pretty much lost his Brit accent. At first I thought that I had it wrong all these years and he was from the USA. Good interview !

I remember reading he was English, but watching a concert and his brief commentary between songs, thought I must have misremembered. He definitely has a very neutral US accent, and what nice, affable, guy. Remarkably strong vocals, timeless impact on the biggest musical era. Nice interview!

He was in his mid-20's when he moved to the U.S. 50+ years ago. He certainly could have retained his accent had he wanted to, but probably made a conscious decision to drop it altogether over time.

My daughters bought record players for their homes and we buy all kinds of stuff. I bought a Jerry Vale album and a Sound of Music soundtrack. Ill go tomorrow and find me some Dave and i know they have Traffic but that one was a little pricey. People seriously dont know who Dave is so there might be an album available.
