Show me a chahoua x crested hybrid in the wild and I will shut up.
Duento deforestation and imported rats and ants we might at some point see crested geckos vanish in the wild. But even if not, I dont want to end up with only hybrids in captivity and this is what is going to happen. People breed back hybrids to cresteds, not labeling the offspring correctly and we will end up with no pure animals anymore. Just like it happened with other species before.
If he breeds the hybrids only for himself.... well ok, but I dont believe he does.

Frazil is a beauty. The Chahoua/Crested hybrids are stunning especially the Red tiger patterned one!!!. The only concern I would have with hybridisation is health and care issues that might arise. Also would all the pure Crested and Chahoua Gecko genetic lines be lost in favour of the hybrids if they became popular.

Also, like a mule, I believe the crested/chahoua hybrid is also infertile, so therefore they themselves can not produce more, so with that crested geckos and chahoas will be pure still, and the only hybrids came from pure lines.

Even though I know what it is now it still kinda feels wrong, because your still knowingly putting possible living animals in that situation that could result in them being in pain or having neurological issues. Idk I guess that’s why it feels wrong.. even tho the chances are lower than they are with mammals, there still is that chance, and to risk an animals life/ wellbeing for it to look pretty.. but then I came to the realization that that’s basically how we got all the different morphs and breeds at some point, and yeah.. it was a lot and i still don’t quite know how to take it. 😂😂

Whilst I love the science behind hybrids, especially with amphibians and hybridogensis, there is is a difference between natural occurring and hobby influenced.
When you look at hybridogensis, species are capable and designed to delete, drop or manipulate DNA. t
The gametes combine and interact in particular ways that do not damage animal or species. In comparison, hobby produced doesn't have the consistency and has issues that naturally would be unlikely. While the potential for hybridisation is there in the wild, nature doesn't usually cross unless there is habitat or very distinct reason such as species viability or population ratios.
So basically While I like them, the way it works in this particular combination suggests nature is not very happy lol. So no from me, but very interesting!

In fact, I've heard that sometimes hybridization increases vigor, makes it less likely to have problems than the purebred. And I'm sure that there will still be plenty of purebreds out there for those who only want purebreds.
