Should I go lower or leave it alone?
go lower man.....
If you’re gonna daily it, id leave it
Take off the tires and leave it on the ground, preferably in a junkyard.
"Ultimate daily driver" with the operative word being daily, therefore leave it. I love the boat feel mine has.
Lower bro.. Drop it an inch.
You're getting a new mayor in a few weeks, wait and see if she even knows what filling a pothole is. Otherwise, the ride height looks ok for a DD. Really like the CDI content, a very obtainable vehicle for the average guy and you show a lot of the Mercedes "regular" maintenance hoops you have jump through.
When is the CDI coming back would love to see more of this bad boy 😁
The KYB struts I installed on my... dare I say "Honda" took 500 miles for them to break in. Close the gap just a little, pot hole season is over in a month and then road construction season begins. Thanks for the quality content!
that ride height is spot on bud - great videos keep them coming learning loads I do own the 2006 Mercedes CLS320CDI uk ;-)
Great content, looking forward to each new Saturday installment. Keep up the good work.
Car is looking good, great job ! can't wait to see how the upgraded suspension performs.
Those thrust arm monoballs are yummy I gotta try them out, did a few BC coilovers on E55’s and love them, totally transforms the ride and handling, this car is going to be so fun to drive now!
Very nice. Can’t wait to see it running.
The ride hight looks on point 👌
Knowing how the streets are in this town, I wouldn't lower it any more than it is now.
Nice ride Alex looks fast sitting in garage. Have fun be safe..🤟
Good info. Planning on ditching the airmatic as well and going with same coilovers. On a W219.
Waiting for a intake manifold cleaning love to see that video, big fan here you make me buy a cdi.
The Diesel Mercedes looking good
Can’t wait to see it on the track
Love your vids, best diy on the tube. A wish for the future, an in depth comparison of the w211 E55 and the E63. Pros and cons, a proper buyers guide.
Keep up the excellent work.
Thank you for apprising your viewers about the bung failure. Way too many DIY'ers attempt to weld cast iron and it inevitably fails. There were even several commenters that claimed that they did it the same way as you and defended it an acceptable method.
If the manifold casting is thick enough for threading, that is the best method. Otherwise, the casting needs to be preheated and brazed. NO MIG!
Definitely close the gap between tire and fender, no more, no less, it will look perfect
Love them TRUST ARMS. I HAVE A 03 S430. GETTING READY TO REPLACE THE FRONT END.....
It looks amazing, the height with the fender contouring the tire tread. I'd let exactly that way.
I say no, leave it alone! Really looks great man!!
HA HA that casting bump is the way to go, plenty of meat to cut a thread foolproof(sorry alex) can be done at home without taking the manifold off . As to lowering NO ,has anybody calling for it driven Chicago streets, i only visited, and the potholes were brutal , you need prerunner suspension !! . Thanks alex fo a great diesel series
Oh yea man a threaded bung would have been so easy. But I had already drilled it to large. Couldn't find the right size fitting. Sucks
Hey alex bring back the cdi content brother..
Want to see what its making going a bigger turbo without any more tuning.. jus a video what difference bigger turbo made..
Good info! Do a video on how to adjust height for the BC coilovers front and back please !
THANX for another great vid 👍🏼 and to answer you question. Leave the suspension as is for now, until you get the designated 18” wheel On the CDI and drive it for a few hundred miles to settle the new suspension which will lower naturally as the miles pile on. If it’s still not how you want it after that then that’ll be a go time to adjust it again. 😎 Keep up the great content 👍🏼
Finally! haha I wanna know how those control arms are! Nice work.
Alex, you inspired me to paint correction and ceramic coating on my E63
Hi Alec, nice job .
It’s awesome!! I’m really stoked it’s almost done! And damn am I just weird or I think right now with these wheels it looks better than your E55 ( and don’t get offended, the E55 is gorgeous, I can’t wait it to be fixed as well )
Love your videos. I am thinking of restoring my 2002 w211 cdi
It looks perfect!
Shade tree engine support is blanket for each fender, pt 4"x4" post, ratchet straps. Universal engine holder and you can use the straps to pull engine to one side for clearance. Super easy.
A friend of mine installed E55 sway bars on his e320 cdi and he said that is like a night and day difference. Install them, it's worth it.
Good shit as always Alex.
Thanks Derrick
Looking good Alex!
Thanks brother
Weight the sway bars to check for the metal wall thickness ones the old one is out
Try to make a stainless manifold, maybe a bit bigger than the original so you have some room to play in the future if you want to change the exhaust. Then an oil catchcan, egr delete, dyno remap and a intake clean-up (including the head) for maximum performance.
I love the fact that the ball joints bolt it. But then I guess they did that because they knew you would be replacing them a lot.
I guess it's not as bad as if they had a quick release mechanism lol
Go low don't be scared, dodging potholes in the city is fun 🤣
Nice job from Oswego Illinois
Loved the Seinfeld-themed t-shirt!
I already can't wait for the next video 😭
Good stuff!
You have to drive it around for a week or two and it should settle a little more.
I've swapped out suspensions and lowered it more in a day and a few weeks later it would be lower and start rubbing.
Cool Vandelay T Shirt!
Wow very nice project, can you show the drive after all modifications. 🙂
looks good ,,, like your videos
nice benz man
Thats alot of work for the sway bars!
Nice video. Could you measure the stock sway bars from e55 and compare them to aftermarket option from Eibach ( front diameter 34mm, rear diameter 21mm ). Thanks
I've got no business doing so, but I was shopping for one of these cars.
We learn more from our failures than successes. Case in point for me, don’t put the MAF on a sketchy table to have it fall off and decide to quit when your making a hard pull literally an hour later.I thought I blew up the tranny lol.
I got an itch lately for a late 80s early 90s 560sec.
Your series on the 320 CDI led me to get one... a cream puff with less than 100k miles. Considering the Bilsteins are $1800 for a full set, want to hear your verdict on those coilovers! How’s the ride, brother? Are there more CDI videos that I’m just not finding? Really like your content... always worthwhile. Be safe out there.
LOVE the shirt! 😁
Alex broke it, Alex broke it... But we still like you... lol. Great work..
That ride height def needs to be adjusted to close that wheel gap more.
Gotta love that m12 stubby haha
Dude I’ve seen this video like 10 times just saw your shirt.
I own that shirt lol
Vandelay industries!!
The change in diameter in the sway bars will make a big difference. The spring rate goes up by the fourth power of the diameter, so a small change makes a big difference. Wall thickness makes little difference.
Loving that Vandelay industries T-shirt! hahahahaha
Hey Alex, great vid as usual! Need some help. My w203 c220 cdi chucks out grey/black smoke even at low throttle going through the gears. I've replaced the turbo and had the egr valve cleaned. This has helped, but not completely solved. What should I look at next?
I think it looks perfect. It'll give it enough travel so you dont bottom out going over bumps... Chicago isn't suspension friendly
This channel should be bigger.
i just love those built cause im from uk and diesel is common in cats over here
Love the shirt!
do you plan on realesing the video how to change brake fluid with the sbc ?i need to do it on mine .
Soon maybe next week
Do it! I would! If your already there it makes sense. For me.
We want more of the CDI!!!!
holy stiff springs, batman! I think you could/should drop it another 1/2" is the rear and 3/4" in the front
PUT THOSE SWEET SPHERICAL BEARINGS ON MY E31 UPPERS - NOT BUSHINGS - BEARINGS - ALSO YOU CAN TIGHTEN THEM UP WHILE IN THE AIR, NO ISSUE - SWAY BARS ARE SOLID, 1MM WOULD BE DIFFERENT, BUT I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD BOTHER WITH IT
Depending on build date, factory made upper control arms with or without replaceable balljoints
Do you know when they started with the replaceable balljoints?
Now you did say you were not the best welder there is so HA HA nah.. you good love the wheels I want to put a set of 18's on my '87 300TD
upper ball joints not reliable on w211 i replacing them more often than brake pads 🙄
btw turbo silencer (kidney, black square box) can be cut off with grinder and 2 holes needs to be welded with appropriate plastic
What size are the front 19 wheels? Car looks great!
Love the shirt
Haha nice shirt. Love it.
Do you know where to get your hands on a remote start for this car? I have the same one but V6 gas not CDI
i think the sway bars will make a difference. maybe do a skidpad test
Lookin good
Hi. Can you do a video on a R230 sl55? I know it shares the engine with the e55 but i need to know more about it. Currently owning a w208 clk55. Thanks
Did the install go smoothly? Any rust problems?
Dude, much love
But what is that with the warping camera. I could not even do that if I tried.
How do you like the emanuals repair manual vs factory wis? Wiring diagrams included?
Hi, I was looking for a service manual for a 2015 Mercedes E 400..The link provided does not have a manual for my model but has a manual for 2014 E class W212 (or) Mercedes E Class Service repair manual (or) Mercedes Benz E Class workshop repair and service manual..wondering if you will be able to help choose and give guidance..love your channel!
I’m really interested to see two things Alex. I want to know how the exhaust you’re having built turns out and sounds. And I want to know what kind of power this thing puts down on the Dino after you’re finished with all the power mods.
I think we are on the exact same page.
258 hp and 600Nm crank always
With regard to the emanuals that you mention, whats the difference between the workshop manual and the service and repair manual?
As you know, increasing the “size” of the front sway will increase understeer. (Assuming there is significant difference between stock and your “upgrade”.) Increasing the rear will increase oversteer. So, what are you trying to achieve?
Hey Alex forget the front sway bar, that is way too much work for nothing. Swap the rear for sure.
Need to pre-heat the entire manifold to get the weld to stick
I wish we have FCP Euro in Europe:)
Yes. They deliver... but don't include the warranty!
Kinda ironic that we don’t have FCP EURO in EUROpe
I wish fcp listed more diesels...
@@statesman2die4 yup. Mine is an E270CDI, FCPEuro doesn't even list it, as it wasn't available in the US.
@@sookoll23 I have a ml270cdi... only petrol mls listed...
Needs more low.. And also I wouldn't mess with the sway if there is nearly much difference
The nut for the ball joint looks like an elliptical (self-locking) nut. Was it? If so, do you still need the locktite?
how much HP do you think you would be able to get with the current setup?
Smaller rims with larger profiles will fill the space (illusion) albeit suspension already harder so I’d leave it, Form follows functionality as well as decent road comfort to compensate...
love it love it
Hey, what do you think about e280 cdi 3.0 turbo diesel with 7g transmission i want to get one ?
Hey Alex, this is the process of learning. You can't do a perfect weld from the first shot
Hi Alex, are the m113 5.0l engines as solid as the m113k?
Did it's the same part on a w220 ? Where did you buy in Europe ?
