Thanks so much for this video. I've always wanted to make beans from scratch with dried beans but they always intimidated me. Your instructions make it look as easy as pie. I have the 6.5 qt Foodi but I can make adjustments.

I love baked beans. Thanks for making informative cooking videos, even though I can't cook, I can only use the microwave.

Something to think about or consider is the fact that what some would call "burnt" is known to a select few as "FOND"! It will blend in with the other makings as it slowly comes to a head. Once the vegies begin to liquefy, the fond will release its flavors into the rest of the recipe. It will not have a burnt taste unless you burn it! If you need to add water, do so sparingly and blend the fond into the makings.

You're right. I should have read your comment before I replied.g... I am shocked that it would take 90 mins. in a pressure cooker. I think he's used to stove cooking.

I figured I was doing something wrong on my first dry bean cook. I only added 6 cups of liquid to the cooker and it took forever to get up pressure enough to start timing down on my 8 quart Foodi. My relief valve let out so much steam. I made sure it was in the seal position. It was never going to pressure up when it was loosing its steam. I had to shut it down and add more water==two times. I understand the volume would take longer to pressure up when it was releasing so much steam. I noticed on your Stainless Steel insert you were reading close to 21 cups of liquid before you sealed it up. Either that was my problem or the vent valve is not working. I enjoyed your video. Thanks

So pressure cooking red beans does not require soaking beans to eliminate gas?

Hey Doug! I love, love, love making BBQ baked beans or any beans in the pressure cooker. That's what made me finally get one, dried beans. Great strainer, fun! PS: Aldi has pinto beans as well. In case your Wally World stops carrying them. Your late night dinner looks good. Have you tried it with cauliflower rice? I love real nice and cauli both so yum. Happy Weekend!

Delicious pinto beans & rice 🍛!

  • @cassandralibertywest4310

Those little brown spots are not exactly burn marks even though it does mean there was some sticking to the pot. That all goes away when you boil the beans- There will be nothing sticking once it gets really cooking. It's flavor. Some foods, yes- You need to worry about that- but that really doesn't apply to soups and beans.
