Ron is one of only 2 drivers ever to go over 339 mph to 1,000ft. The other is Robert Hight. Both are Funny Car drivers. (Matt Hagan has been 338 in the 1000ft I believe) The Top Fuel Dragsters have quicker ET's by about 1/10th and a half (of a second) but sheer MPH the funny cars are the fastest any nitro car has ever been.
To put it in perspective. John Force and Jack Beckman ran the quickest 1/4 mile side by side ever back in (I think) 2006 at Pomona. 4.66 to 4.69 on the 1/4, both over 330mph... They had 1,320ft of track.. But Capps and Hight had 320ft less track and have been 5mph faster
Edit: I'm from the UK and am 31 years old. I've been watching (and going to drag racing at Santa Pod) since 1994 and remember when Ron drove Don Prudome's black Copenhagen Camaro. The Gold Copenhagen Camaro funny car from the 90's was one of the first model cars I ever owned ✌️

Once again big respect to the 1320 crew to be allowed to film NHRA funny cars are the most difficult drag cars to drive because they are cross between 2 cars They have same Supercharged engine and transmission and power as top fuel but in short a body like a pro mod which means They handle like a pro mod which is never in a straight line They slide all over the place and with 12,000 hp on tap make for entertaining viewing but if anything goes wrong because the engine is in front of you you get force of the engine explosion in front of your face Not if but when The engine does go bang you have to do with the invisible flames because of the nitro which makes it most dangerous cars to drive

Need videos where its more in depth on how the cars work and what goes into keeping them racing down the track. The crew members are the true unsung heroes!

Dad got to see John Force on the line right behind him. Coolest video I have. And also got to meet him in his pit area. I then went and saw his car start up close. The nitromethane in ur eyes makes u bawl and cough and cry but it’s the best feeling in the world

Such an awesome viewpoint from someone that has done something so few people have. Kyle would you rather drive a top fuel/funny car, Formula 1 car or Group B rally car? Wow a casual John Force and David Frieburger sighting.

@@giselle8924 I bet your dad is very disappointed in you and what you've become. Making pathetic posts like this on popular CZcams channels and the videos they've traveled to the track, then all the work that Kyle puts into filming, uploading and editing these videos. Then you pop up hoping people will click on your link and watch you disappoint and embarrass your family and friends all just so you can make a little money.

@@1320video Me too but you would only get to experience a top fuel/funny car for 4 seconds. It was something that came up one night while a group of us were drinking in the garage. There are so many definite pros and cons that it's really hard to come up with a clear winner. I think the top fuel/funny car would be the easiest to experience what makes them so special because the limits of the F1 or Group B rally car are so beyond what the average Joe could accomplish that it makes them difficult to choose. I'm not saying anyone could jump in a funny car and run 3.8s or 4.3s but you are alot more likely to get to experience the monstrous acceleration they offer but have the skill to be able to get the G force a F1 car or the balls to launch a Group B at WOT down a rally course at the speeds that would show you what they are capable of. Kyle when can we expect to see some more videos of your white Chevys and R8?

Congrats Ron and team DSR I was there that Saturday 95 degrees! Great interview and thanks for sharing everything behind the scenes! Yes Indeed met Ron many times over the years autographs at the pit & small chat too! A class act representing drag racing being humble as well truthful, struggles as a driver explaining everything! As well all behind the wheel battling his funny car! Great job 1320 crew!

I was working the gate at Atlanta Dragway one year. It was early in the morning and Ron Capps came up to the gate. He was waiting for some people of his to show up. He sat there at the gate with me and we talked for about 20 minutes. He is one laid-back cool guy. That is one great memory.
