  • I picked up a small piece of hardwood at my local Rebuild Site, hoping that it was sapele hiding under a thick layer of varnish. Little did I know that this was Padauk, so I decieded to team it up with a piece of Iroko.
www.rebuildsite.co.uk/ They encourage everyone to rethink how to better use materials, reclaim materials that are currently being thrown away or down cycled, and reuse as much excess and ‘nearly-new’ materials as possible, creating value in what is often treated as waste
    Thank you for watching.

Beautiful color combination and interesting grain in the top part. A very nice little bowl! 😊

Very nice! When I do multiple wood species glue ups, it's to turn a "funnel" back into a bowl. You do it on purpose!!!

😂😂😂 Yeah I thought it might look pretty. I've not had a funnel for a little while now, but I'm sure that I'm due one soon!

Very nice combination! Where do you get your maker's wooden coin? Thanks.

Was going to ask exactly the same question. Very nice bowl with the contrasting woods.

I make them myself using a laser engraver/cutter. They really finish off the bowl. Thanks

Newbie turner here...how did you know the thickness of the bottom, where the mortise is cut in? I am so afraid of cutting through. Measuring with a caliper is difficult as there is no space in the mortise.

I tend to use a combination square to gauge the depth or just a simple ruler, but I often just eyeball it and hope!
