From my interpertation, Cloud is not hallucinating, he is somehow able to communicate Aerith's soul/Life stream like in Advent Children, Red XIII can also senses her "spirit" while the others can't is another proof to this.
Sephiroth also acknowledged her presence during the final phase of their boss fight
Plus there's a huge fucking reality rift in the sky and an unconscious cloud and aeris sitting next to zack in another dimension go figure
That's also my opinion. He's got the holy materia after it all happened - idk when exactly he obtained it but it's literally the power of the materia to speak directly with the planet. They say it "turns green when it is used". This means Aerith was succesfull stopping Meteor using the materia.
But Cloud also had a Holy materia as shown later. I think that's why he still sees Aerith. And Aerith also knows the rest cannot see her, it's why she doesn't talk to him when it would make the others confused - she's supposed to be dead. I see many people talk about timelines but to me there's only one timeline. It's why you see the lifestream effects appear when she 'finished' the battle when she stood at his back. And they appeared when she 'woke up' talking to Cloud. And when right before his took down his sword, you saw the green of the lifestream. I wonder if that's when she manipulated him into thinking he stopped Sepiroth, because she knew she had to die. It's also clear when she appears to fight alongside with Cloud, the closeup on her hair ribbon, where Holy lies. Ptsd is - unfortunately - kinda wild to experience. It's true how your body tries to delude yourself into thinking something didn't happen even if it's right in front of you (know from experience). The guy needs serious therapy after all this lol. And the part with Zack, I personally think that's because he's part of the Lifestream as well, of earth. And earth was partly destroyed by Meteor. But Aerith called the Lifestream to reinstate everything before it happened, after she stopped Meteor.
But that's my personal opinion/vision, ofc. I like how people can basically make their own vision of the ending. But in mine, there's no multiple timelines, there's just the Lifestream which is basically a Spirit Realm. Honestly though, while he may seem depicted as crazy, but it is at least in some way a realistic depiction of someone manipulated into oblivion, who's seen death multiple times, got experimented on, lost all their family and friends etc etc. I hate it when characters are supposed to be traumatized into a facility are acting like all what happened was stub their toe one day.
Devs have said advent children is part of the remake series blood, so part 3 will 100% include some soul crushing cloud guilt. Though I think she will come back through the zack timeline by the end of the reunion

Cloud actually managed to save Aerith in forgotten capital. When Cloud blocked Sephiroth's sword a bright rainbow colored light appeared out of nowhere and then Sephiroth's sword flies into the ground. Then the scene switches into main timeline where he kills Aerith. We see Aerith being covered in blood when Barret and the others arrive to the scene. When we see them crying around her body there is no rainbow light anywhere to be seen. Then after the final fight is over Cloud walks to check on Aerith, the scene changes and Barret and the others mysteriously disappear and Cloud is suddenly alone with Aerith and this bright rainbow colored light is surrounding the altar. We learned from Zack's actions that this light symbolizes the creation of parallel worlds. Also Sephiroth said that everytime the fate gets breached it leads into the creation of another parallel world. This is what we see when Cloud blocks Sephiroth's attack in forgotten capital. The scene goes back and forth implying that there are two parallel realities where Aerith died and survived. Main timeline Aerith is dead but Aerith from that timeline Cloud's actions created is alive and well. When this light is surrounding the altar we see that Aerith is uninjured. There is no blood to be seen around her body. Cloud asks Aerith to wake up and she opens her eyes and smiles at Cloud. Main world Aerith's spirit also thanked Cloud for saving her during the last fight
"I saw what you did back there Cloud, thank you."
and Cait Sith's first fortune reading heavily foreshadows this moment:
"Things are looking up so throw your caution to the wind. Place your trust in others and the last minute twist may pleasantly surprise you."
No Cloud did save her but it was Aerith who changed it to where she died. It’s why she pushed Cloud away from the church in the dream and Sephiroth walks in. Aeriths death needed to happen, it’s the only way to stop Sephiroth and she knows it. That’s why Sephiroth said he underestimated her because he thought she’d never accept her destiny if it meant saving herself and living with her friends. But she chose to save the world and Cloud. hence she says “It’s not about me, it’s about saving the world and you”
Yes. It's about self-sacrifice, and it's something that actually needs to happen for her to save the world.
Sephirot was kind of dumb for never deducing that the super pure-hearted "Disney princess" that's Aerith would ever choose her life over that of the entire world. Then again he's Sephirot so i can understand why he was that dumb.
Aerith remembers the previous timeline. That's why she decided to embrace this destiny. Likewise, the developers had the precious tact of trying to smooth out the events as much as possible.

@@javiervasquez625 More than dumb, i think that Sephiroth like most of the villains, he is too arrogant for his sake, leading him to always understimate his enemies, like Cloud and Aerith.
Showed also by his passive manner to face the heroes, libe to be using dirty tricks to manipulates Cloud, causing some discord and issues within the group, than a more aggresive approachment to simply kills Cloud inmediately, and/or kidnapps Aerith and keeps her alive as prisoner to prevent her from return to the Planet.
Showing that Sephiroth has a flaw harbor arrogance and hubris.

I doubt the third game will take longer than rebirth. They already did most the work, and seem more comfortable with unreal engine now. I say 2027 likely, if lucky then late 2026

So let me guess this straight :
Biggs as in Clouds Biggs, is now in Zack timeline , Aerith is in a coma in Zacks timeline but dead in Clouds.
I get the feeling Aerith, Zack and Biggs will come into Clouds timeline in part 3 with Marlene help.
I think those 2 timelines will merge or something and then become 1 maybe with everyone alive or they become different again but zack and Aerith will be alive in one and others in second one

I think it’s more like the world Zack, Biggs and Aerith is in is the afterlife.
That’s why the whispers around them are white instead of black, and I think what we’ll see in Reunion is the living plane and the afterlife merging together. That’s also why Cloud can see Aerith in the end and that whole cutscene with Zack.

Hear me out, I think they purposely didn’t show the water burial scene to show that cloud is mentally blocking Aerith being dead. On top of Jenova corrupting his mind, and multiple timelines, Cloud is going through it.
Seems like it his dialogue to sephiroth is muted as well

Here are my thoughts, as someone that particularly loves Aerith.
Also, as someone currently playing OG as well, the ending of Rebirth has actually significantly changed the narrative we expect so keep that in mind. Part 3 will genuinely be unrecognizable to us and I'm really looking forward to that.
Let's go back to Costa Del Sol. If you walked with Aerith on the beach, she tells Cloud that he'll meet her future self and that he's going to love her.
Cloud meets this future Aerith in a place that she calls "my dream" and she wants him not to look up. So future Aerith made Cloud wake up in "her dream" and one identifying factor of this being her dream is the iridescence in the sky.
In Costa Del Sol, Aerith asked Cloud what his ideal date would be. He basically responded by saying "a walk" would be an ideal date for him.
In the "dream", as Aerith calls it, they go for a walk through the slums. She tries to create this ideal date for him, making it memorable by pointing out that he's buying his "first gift for Aerith", holding his hand like she always does, buying candy with him and taking a couple's photo together. All this is canon and not optional.
Interestingly enough, what Aerith calls a dream is, instead, called "a world that has accepted its fate" by Sephiroth. Keep that in mind. Future Aerith has created a dream for Cloud. Future Aerith has created a world for Cloud.
In the song No Promises to keep, Aerith sings this line "lived a life without a care, in the world safe for you"
Towards the end of this dream, the purpose of her actions are revealed. The most obvious is that she gives Cloud the White Materia. It's pale green like it should be. The "present" Aerith has one that is transparent and she had said it's because the whispers took important memories away from her.
Basically, future Aerith is returning these important memories to "present" Aerith through Cloud.
The other reasons, apart from saving the world, have to do with understanding the nature of her relationship with Cloud. In my playthrough, Cloud indicated that he wants to spend more time with her just like they were doing. From his words, she finally understands the nature of their relationship. (Cloud would love to continue going on walks with her, where she lovingly holds his hand and he showers her with little gifts and where they share happy moments just like typical couples do e.g. entering couples competitions)
In the end, future Aerith has accomplished what she wanted to do. Sephiroth even said "I underestimated you" to Aerith. The thing is, because Cloud had returned future Aerith's white materia to present Aerith... those important memories returned to our Aerith. Thus there is no longer any difference between "future Aerith" and our Aerith.
"Thanks for returning it to me." Aerith said to Cloud, having received the White Materia. Then she gave her transparent one to Cloud, however, in the final scene of the game Cloud looks at a pale green White Materia. It's full of memories. Memories that Cloud shouldn't have.
At the very end, when Cloud looks at the sky he sees that familiar iridescence from the dream Aerith gave him. I believe Aerith, while trying to help Cloud find himself, has created this "dream" world for him so that he doesn't focus on mourning her. Instead, he has to focus on himself. She's doing him this great gesture of love by creating a world for him where he can see and speak to her lest he mourn unendingly.
Basically, regardless of whether Aerith is dead or alive, Cloud will always be able to be with her. When she's in trouble, she'll "send up smoke" and Cloud, being her bodyguard, will protect her.
I also believe Cloud knows way more than he should because, in the OG, it was only through Bugenhagen that Cloud learnt that Aerith was praying to stop meteor. But in Rebirth's ending, Cloud and Aerith mutually share an understanding of their duties from OG.
Cloud has to stop Sephiroth while Aerith has to stop meteor. This conversation should not be happening at this point in the story at all.
This is why I think Part 3 of VIIR will be shockingly different. We'll see I guess. I, for one, am totally looking forward to it!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is officially my favourite Final Fantasy (surpassing my love for Final Fantasy X) Cloud and Aerith's love story is just so pure. A love that transcends death.

Cloud shouldn't have white materia. It should be "lost". Cloud, in the OG, only found out about Aerith's role to stop meteor after retrieving the Keystone of the Ancients and using it in the forgotten capital.
I really don't know what to expect in Part 3. Rebirth's ending is truly mind baffling, especially because I'm in disc 2 of the OG right now.
Cloud knows too much, at the end of Rebirth. We need to be asking ourselves why does he know things that he shouldn't. That's why I think he has memories of the future, somehow, because of "future" Aerith.
FF7 Reunion or w/e they call it will still follow the same path just with added lore and turns. Cloud will give the black materia to Sephiroth’s real body, his mind will be repaired by Tifa (Aerith may help), and the team, with barret as leader, will continue. However somewhere towards the final battle Zack will come into play. Just so crazy.
So Aerith here knows she died to them. Red feels her touch. It seems that’s not just Cloud’s imagination
I think its a mix of both aerith did die but only physically she's just in the lifestream and the aerith that cloud sees is both her talking to cloud through the lifestream but also his ptsd causeing her to appear physically
She became a force ghost. This isn't as ridiculous as it sounds. Ghosts exist on this planet, and the life stream is able to in a sense, if certain entities can't move on, they can stay, unwilling to move on, like Sephiroth. Is it so hard to comprehend? If they can accept that Sephiroth isn't somewhat dead, this should be also possible. Cloud isn't crazy, he's not delusional or gone insane. Firstly, Cloud stops Sephiroth, saves Aerith. But Sephiroth or the Whispers, or Aerith herself changes the course to still, go the flow of the first time line. Did you see the sudden change in the scene? The sword was blocked, and then it switched. So, as usual, Sephiroth and Jenova tries to kill Cloud, etc... but they involve other universes, where Zack lives, etc. Aerith at the end becomes a ghost, and she says goodbye, but it's a cliffhanger. Indefinitely, she is going back to the lifestream to stop the meteor, but the third game might see Naoki and the writers regretting or changing the plot device to see if Aerith can come back, and how Cloud can defeat Jenova/Sephiroth once and for all. It may be worse, but since they pulled this off, the fans reactions were bad. So they probably know how bad it is, and they'll try to salvage or "make it right", by bringing Aerith back and Zack... a happy ending basically. Theyre trying to balance both views. Ultimately, since the OG FF7 exists, Nomura or Naoki, the one directing this same as FF13, should ignore the purists and try to remove the core theme of this, basically, loss. Aerith gets resurrected or reincarnated, and Cloud defeats Sephiroth, Sephiroth finds himself in the lifestream ready to go beyond, and Jenova is defeated. The cells have to be destroyed too, so hopefully there's a chance of a cure to remove the Jenova cells placed in Cloud and many others. Sephiroth may also learn the truth of his mother, Lucrezia. All in all, they said No Promises Will Be Kept, thus... they may go down a horrible route and show Sephiroth winning in the end, but... who knows. What Naoki did with FF13 in Lightning Returns concluded well, so this here hopefully ends the same.
Basically, Cloud's mind has been broken further. Think of it like this, His mind was like a sphere cracked all around it, and then by the end of Rebirth, his mind broke in half, held together merely by glue... that glue being dillusion...
i think its clear that while Aerith is a spirit now, but to Cloud Aerith is really there and not dead. He doesnt see her as a spirit. In his mind she's alive and right there. But unfortunately thats not the case. He didnt save her, she isnt really there. The only reason he can see her is probably because of his mind being so broken that now his mind lives in two reality now. Reality One where Aerith is dead, and Reality Two (aka fake) where Aerith is alive. Aerith might be a spirit, But Cloud is too messed up to distinguish this now. He's ultimately regressed even further into Trauma Cloud :|

While they ignore the whole Sephiroth storyline or idk, whose physical body died just like Aerith’s and with the same logic, they should call everyone else crazy who sees Sephiroth.
For me Aerith is gonna return in part 3 and I really hope so. It was tragic to see her death again. Also if this is a remake, I want to see a different epilogue where the flower girl is still alive. And I love the original one.

It still hurts like the first time... This rebirth scene gives another kind of pain. In the first Cloud expresses it through words, but this time he expresses it in gestures. I feel like I want to cry when I see Cloud hold Aerith's hand and bring it to his face, Cloud and Aerith always hold hands since the remake, and in the rebirth, they hold hands so many times that it makes it so painful. I am satisfied with the story about Cloud & Aerith, but still... hope Aerith finds a way to live with Cloud in the end.
All forgot zack, zack died and lost all what he loves..

@@karlthorkildson4650let just hope you are right. Part 2 of Aerith death really disappointed me. I was hoping to see her actually getting stabbed in the chest/abdomen, her Materia coming out of her bow (which they show that), Materia going in the water (they show that as well), Cloud angrily and yelling at an laughing Seporoth, Cloud and the team saying there goodbyes, Cloud saying his final goodbye till he lets Aerith goes, seeing Aerith sinking in the water and going underwater to her burial place. I hope they add those in part 3.

I genuinely do not understand why they put up with Cloud at this point. Cloud literally tried killing Tifa before she was swallowed by the Weapon and then she just.....goes on without kicking Cloud out of the party? He shows some real mental instability often and is just a huge liability to the whole party. He's way more mentally unstable than the original to the point that it's unbelievable any sane individuals would allow a person exhibiting Cloud's behavior to be near them. But plot...yeah, yeah. I get it.

This ending completely broke me. And this is coming from someone who played the original FFVII. Seeing the original Aerith enjoy one last date with Cloud knowing it won’t last, and then sacrificing herself again just to give Cloud a chance and save his world was just too much 😭😭😭😭😭
You know, while "denial" is reasonable explanation, the more I look at the scene of her death and this scene (colorcoding, positioning, whispers), while keeping Sephiroth's words "perhaps you need a little push" in mind, the more I think, that Sephy just got rickrolled on a cosmic scale.

You didn't quite get the first part of the ending. The entire ending starts with the scene and shows Cloud's descent into madness and disassociation starring Zack as well.
I think I get it now. This is where the two worlds merged. Cloud is part of the world where he saved Aerith, which is why he can see her and the split in the sky at the end of Rebirth and the others in the party are part of the world where Aerith was stabbed and killed. Which is why they see her covered in blood and can no longer see her at the end of the game, nor the split in the sky.😮
Yes, even sephiroth is saying something like that with the worlds. And when cloud is moving to aerith, when she's lying there, the background is white and there a white whispers that only he can see. And white ones mean: Canon
I mean, she's even lying different on the ground in both worlds. The devs are throwing everything on the player but a majority just don't get it I guess
Or Cloud can see her spirit because she’s joined the lifestream, and we know it’s not an illusion cuz red sensed her. Ig we won’t know exactly until the third game drops in 4 years…
@@Mono_303I think it’s possible the aerith cloud sees in the final scenes is not the same one we’ve been with all this time. Cloud was moved to another world in which aerith died but his original aerith is living. I think it’s possible that all aeriths across all timelines are somehow linked or carry the memories of the events of the OG PS1 game. In the original game, I believe aerith had to die in order to in order to command the lifestream from within. However in the remake we have multiple aeriths so maybe this alternate aerith can do that from within the lifestream while the remake aerith(the one we’ve been with all this time) does whatever she can from the outside. It’s 2 aeriths working together. That’s why she says goodbye as if she won’t ever see cloud again. This aerith really won’t.
I’m probably coping here but I just can’t get over her being dead permanently. All this defying fate for what you know. Idk though we’ll have to wait and see

And second, Aerith died to return to the Planet and become more powerful, to be capable to stop Sephiroth's plans, specifically, stop the Meteor with the Holy and the Lifestream combined.
Especially if she knows about her fate, making that Aerith chose makes the ultimate sacrifice to saves the world, and protect her friends.

Cloud basically believes in his head that Aerith is still alive. That’s what I got from all this. He might not be in a coma in the next game. Tifa is very likely gonna have to bring Cloud back to reality by telling him the truth of what really happened to Aerith 👍.
Also Zack 2 is definitely real also since we see things in his perspective from his world throughout the game. Marlene tells him about saving Aerith and he tells Cloud about saving Aerith. This is obviously pointing towards Aerith 2 in the second reality who is 100% going to join the main crew in part 3 along with Zack 2 the Legend 👍.
I could say smth regarding Zack and how it can be viewed and might likely be, but not gonna spoil anything (AND we don't know for sure, ofc!), but yeah, that'd be great

they are obviously setting up part 3 and this is not the last time we will see this scene.

I think Cloud is aware that Aerith is dead, to some degree at least. Like, he seems to be aware that only he can see her because otherwise, wouldn't he question why nobody else reacts to her, or talks to her, or why everyone is still crying about her death? So I think to some degree he is aware that only he can see her. I think, through his traveling through the different realities, he is now able to see multiple realities while the others can't (because I think he's the only one that ever traveled all these other realities apart from Aerith), but I think that he's not aware of THAT, given that he tells them to look at the rift in the sky when they can't see it. So Aerith is probably alive in another reality, or merged with the Lifestream or whatever and he's the only one with the ability to see that, tough he's not 100% aware of it. Add to that that he's probably also really metnally messed up now, more so than he was before her death.

It's not hard to give it impact again. It all comes down to direction and the direction of the remake series is nowhere near as good - it's too exaggerated in its presentation to make any sad/terrifying moments look good. Square is trying too hard to make characters behave like anime characters so almost all seriousness is lost because the direction is shit, inferior to the original. Yet if someone who's never played this game... it COULD have been just as impactful. Not everyone rushes ahead to spoilers. Personally, I didn't know Vader was Luke Skywalker's father until I first watched the movie, years after it's initial release... but then again, that was before the internet had such a heavy presence in day to day life...
only minor complaint is that I wish they gave cid and vincent more time with the cast, especially with Aerith so they can share morning.
Cloud actually managed to save Aerith in forgotten capital. When Cloud blocked Sephiroth's sword a bright rainbow colored light appeared out of nowhere and then Sephiroth's sword flies into the ground. Then the scene switches into main timeline where he kills Aerith. We see Aerith being covered in blood when Barret and the others arrive to the scene. When we see them crying around her body there is no rainbow light anywhere to be seen. Then after the final fight is over Cloud walks to check on Aerith, the scene changes and Barret and the others mysteriously disappear and Cloud is suddenly alone with Aerith and this bright rainbow colored light is surrounding the altar. We learned from Zack's actions that this light symbolizes the creation of parallel worlds. Also Sephiroth said that everytime the fate gets breached it leads into the creation of another parallel world. This is what we see when Cloud blocks Sephiroth's attack in forgotten capital. The scene goes back and forth implying that there are two parallel realities where Aerith died and survived. Main timeline Aerith is dead but Aerith from that timeline Cloud's actions created is alive and well. When this light is surrounding the altar we see that Aerith is uninjured. There is no blood to be seen around her body. Cloud asks Aerith to wake up and she opens her eyes and smiles at Cloud. Main world Aerith's spirit also thanked Cloud for saving her during the last fight
"I saw what you did back there Cloud, thank you."
and Cait Sith's first fortune reading heavily foreshadows this moment:
"Things are looking up so throw your caution to the wind. Place your trust in others and the last minute twist may pleasantly surprise you."
I love this ending. Cloud finally saved her. This is the ending i wanted to see. Even if it happens in parallel timeline i'll gladly take it.
There is also a little detail I noticed too. Tifa sees both Aeriths, take a look at when the party reaches the altar, we see Aerith glitching out, alive and no blood, dead and blood. At first, you'd think its Cloud but the camera zooms out directly to Tifa. She sees both Aeriths. Remember she involuntarily took a bath in mako, that's gotta have some impact.
Writing advice for Square Enix:
Devastation and confusion are INCOMPATIBLE emotions, because in order to be devastated by something, you need to be emotionally invested in it. And in order to become invested in something, you need to have enough CONTEXT to UNDERSTAND and become FAMILIAR with it.
So if you want a scene or story to be tragic, then FOR THE LOVE OF GOD don't make it vague and confusing. Nor vice-versa.

We want all these different players to experience the same sense of surprise, regardless of their entry point into FFVII. I think it's important what happened before her prayers. Cloud entered as the only one a white portal. This is another timeline where he saved her. But then it switched back. We see cloud crying and then we saw him say something (maybe his words from the OG) NOW you have to pay attention. When he knock sephis sword away, clouds sword was glowing green and the background was white and glowy. That's important. Cause when we see the blood sequence, the glow is gone. Its only there when we see her without the blood. And its gone too when the materia fell into the water or when the group is arriving. She even lie down different at the end when tifa looked at her after the fight vs sephi is over. Cloud didnt lie her down like this, when he said "i got this". Then he appears, aerith lies on the side - he moves to her and suddenly she lies on the back, but tifa didnt change her position. He enters a white glow again, where the whispers are, which wasnt there before, wakes her up and we didnt even see the green lifestream particles, there were only white ones. So he could save her in another timeline. Thats why after the fight against sephi, he enters a white glow again where he wakes her up. Marlene said "make that cloud isnt sick anymore, or he can't save aerith". It didnt mean that Zack actually has to make it, he just has to make the right choice. Biggs, Hojo or Aerith, Aerith will wake up in Z1 timeline when she dies, remember that.
At the end Cloud is seeing that Aerith died but she then appeared right infront of him - he can see her cause she isnt in this timeline, but he entered this one before.

She’s alive in the other timeline. Aerith can interact with both, but she is physically dead in regular one so she returns to the other one where cloud actually managed to stop her death, but it’s also the timeline where sephiroth wins.

This was hollow compared to the original. It was convoluted, more than Kingdom Hearts managed to be, and now Cloud comes off as schizophrenic and not suffering from Mako poisoning. I will never understand why they thought they should tamper with this story other than execs wanting to milk it an Nomura dispassionately subverting or having the narrative fall victim to his bad writing. How the heck did chunky polygons and dialogue boxes convey more emotion that rendered characters that refuse to show emotions on their faces like they had ten plastic surgeries?? No one talks like they are real, either. It's so bizarre that it's worse than even in shounen anime.

@@masokis3141 I think it's because the creators know she isn't dead, don't plan on he truly being dead. If this takes place before Advent Children...no, that's from the "bad" timeline or OG game. Even so, some people must not have played the original if they were moved by this while I was confused. No Aerith's theme playing prominently and that is what convinced me they were giving it away this was going through the motions and not her end. There's no way they executed the scene this badly.
The only game Squaresoft did well with time/dimension concept was Chrono Trigger and I don't feel Cross got that convoluted. FFVIII didn't focus on time prominently and only toward the end. Other than that, Square-Enix has never done it well, in fact it's been very bad. I can only think they took some idea of a multiverse or the like from Disney/Marvel along with Nomura tampering with such a hard to execute concept again.

The biggest debates that I am aware of are 1) Did Aerith die when Sephiroth tried to stab her or did she survive only for the Arbiters to force her to did? 2) Is Cloud deluding himself into thinking she is alive OR did he accept she is dead but is able to perceive her spirit projected by the Lifestream?
I'm not entirely sure about what the answer is to question 2, but it seems that from a more meta perspective, the game is trying to say that her death isn’t only a sad thing since in the FF7 universe, death is just part of a cycle of the lifestream, and her dying in the physical realm is not such a horrible thing since she still exists, “alive” as ever. A lot of people are saying Cloud is just delusional now, but Cloud is actually the only one who's correctly perceiving the truth if you think about it, which is that Aerith still exists, and that's what's most important.
I hope Aerith isn't dead. She still hasn't reunite with Zack yet...

You read it all wrong. THIS TIME AERITH IS ALIVE! Cloud created a timeline where he blocks Sephiroth and saves AERITH. At the pool scene she is not a ghost, that's why the game is called Rebirth. The two timelines are glitching dyring this cutscene until it is revealed that in this one Aerith lives.
There is a reason they cut out that cloud speech about Aerith’s death, and it’s because she’s still alive. Zack is alive in his timeline, Aerith is alive in another timeline cloud created, and in part 3 all the timelines will merge together. There is literally no way they would put a huge speech sephiroth gives about new worlds being created when destiny is changed right before this scene if it had zero relevance

remember the scene where zack was choosing where to go in his bike? whether to go for cloud's cure or save biggs? he chose to save cloud but the other option suddenly has a burst of light with some rainbow colors on it. i think this is when time makes it's branches or creates another universe when the people choose a different outcome. and who is doing this? OMNI AERITH, the original aerith we played in 1997. she has been fighting sephiroth while also using the branches of reality to give sephi a hard time finding her and keeping sephi from merging every timeline, so there's this one scene where sephi told omni aerith that "so this is where you've been hiding" and the reason is that cloud carries with him a part of jenova which sephi can sense. so i think the moment sephi was about to stab rebirth aerith, omni aerith created another split in time where she was saved, but that was not rebirth clouds universe. and since she was saved in another timeline she was able to assist cloud in his final rebirth fight with sephi with a physical form. i think this branch is the only branch with a physical aerith that's alive. getting a mage/healer in part 3 as aerith is kinda unlikely still.

When they show the frame with the Masamune embedded in the floor, you can see the classic "distortions" he experiences when he distorts reality, such as when Zack is mentioned, and you hear the famous three notes of the intro, the same ones you hear when a tear escapes in the Remake. In the third part of the game, they could show the same scene with Sephiroth actually pulling the bloodied sword from Aerith's body. In fact, upon closer observation, there are two angles and two different floors. One is just in Cloud's head where he deflected the attack, and another with the sword impaled THROUGH Aerith's body and blood starting to flow. Sephiroth smiles, pulls out the sword (from the body), and we see the classic scene of Aerith falling as the music starts. Even when the rest of the team approaches, you see the classic disturbances with a bloody scene and a clean one (in Cloud's head). Although it's intentionally done to confuse and mislead, we simply see what actually happened and what Cloud sees from the moment his psyche begins to deny Aerith's death, including her telling him "it's all right" and him laying her on her back. After defeating the boss, we see Tifa and the others looking at the deceased body lying on its side, while when Cloud approaches, he only sees her lying on her back, even opening her eyes and responding to him, obviously only in his head. I mean, even him rejecting Sephiroth's sword is all a product of his imagination. In the end, this guy literally saw Zack die before his eyes and removed it all from his memory. Obviously, what really happened, including him laying Aerith's body in the lake, will be revealed in the last part when Cloud, fallen into the lifestream, regains control of his memories and himself 😢

They all ready think Cloud is crazy. They thought he was crazy even in the original. Because, in all actuality he is. From the jump he's been impersonating someone else, and even created false narratives to justify it. The initial scare is that he is suffering because he thought, and Sephiroth leads him to believe, that he's a physical clone of Sephiroth. But, later you find out, well, he's a clone...but not physically. He copied and adopted someone else's personality, mannerisms, and backstory because he couldn't live with how weak he perceived himself to be.
They did kill her and created the sadness that they needed so badly. Now that's done bring her back to life.

The other Aerith and cloud woke up. They show us that the other cloud was able to save Aerith in Zacks timeline. Red is 100% dead in the other timeline though, hard to tell if the others made it through as well.

First time through this ending I was more confused than anything so it didn’t hit me really emotionally, but now that it’s settled in and watching it back and seeing it through the perspective of Tifa, Barrett, and the others except Cloud is where it really got to me.

Didn't notice it until now because the last chapter goes by so fast but at the pool when they are reflecting on Aerith's death when cloud looks over at "Aerith" her head turn is very odd and the music gets creepy as well, not to mention the framing of her face when first revealed.

So part 3 will hopefully go something like this. Cloud remembers who Zack somewhat during rebirth. So instead of Sephiroth telling him Zack was at Nibelheim he will instead probably tell him Aerith is dead which will cause his breakdown and then Tifa Cloud lifestream scene.
So basically in this timeline Aerith became one with life stream, kind a like force ghost. She became Aerith... Skywalker.
Nah, the main timeline Aerith still dead, this one we see is from parallel world where she got saved by blocking Masamune.
This Aerith and Cloud exist and can interact in multiple realities, thats why he can also see the sky from Zacks timeline.

Nope. There's a scene before this in the church where Aerith gives him the materia and pushes Cloud away as Sephiroth walks into the room. Aerith's hair is down as well, matching her dying scene.
What happened was, when Aerith pushed Cloud away in the church = Aerith using the white scepters to push Cloud away from saving her. Aerith knows she has to die in order to save the world... so she stopped Cloud from saving her.
And so, Cloud is seeing an illusion that either Aerith is projecting through the lifestream to soften the blow on Cloud's mental health, or Sephiroth is fucking with Cloud and showing him Aerith as alive so Tifa won't be able to fix Cloud's brain later on.
I personally think Aerith is using the lifestream to connect with Cloud to help ease him through the loss.
She died because she wanted to know how it felt to get her soul cooked in a mako reactor rest in pieces bozo, tifa a gang will always win

6:29 I found this part really sad. I feel like Tifa can see how broken Cloud is as he’s not reacting to Aerith’s death. All of them have only ever lost people.
I also think they did the water burial, but it’ll be shown in part 3 when Cloud comes to terms with her death and remembers doing it.

In the original, the fact there was no goodbye or forewarning was extremely intentional. It was trying to make a 'real' death.
This does not do any of that, or even try to. It's just confusing to push a different story here, and to build hype.
Glenn appearing in this game makes me glad I play Ever Crisis.
My biggest question is, will part 3 stay mostly true to the original now? Will we still see Hojo gaslighting Cloud into believing he’s a Seph clone so that he walks into the lifestream and then Tifa eventually repairing his mind? I really hope so.
They have too. Cloud’s brain is even more screwed up here. It’s so weird cause some moments we can hear og cloud talking to this one telling him he’s been through this before
I don't understand how Tifa is going to repair cloud's brain when he is already remembering things. He just needs to shake Genova's effect on him which I am sure Sephiroth will help him wake up to shock him

From what someone said Aerith knew she had to die so she somehow stopped herself from being saved.
That’s the short of it but that’s what I heard some people saying.

the working theory is that aerith 1 was indeed saved but that sephiroth pulled some timeline shenanigans and pulled aerith 0 (original ff7 aerith) into timeline 1 (current timeline).
aerith 0 is the aerith the one you meet during the remake resolution scene and the rebirth resolution scene. she’s the aerith who knows what’s going to happen. she’s the aerith who died and probably the aerith who kept timeline jumping which explains that off-shoot sephiroth line (“so this is where you’ve been hiding… i underestimated you”) he’s probably been tracking aerith 0 the entire time.
aerith 1 is the current aerith and the one who was saved but had her body taken over by aerith 0 (death scene) and her consciousness transported to zack’s timeline (timeline 2). hence, this aerith 2 also has the knowledge of what happened in timeline 1 but is unable to be awakened. there’s probably something more planned for this aerith due to that one line in costa del sol (“that’s for the future me, silly. can’t say when you’ll meet but i’ve got a feeling you’ll like her”). aerith 2 has never actually met cloud in zack’s timeline… which could mean that this is the “future self” she was talking about.

Thank you for your explanation. I hope this story can be explained a little more clearly, and it is best to allow players to choose the ending. Even if other ending routes conflict with the movie story, it doesn't matter. I just want to see Claude and Aerith meet safely. We have been waiting for you for a long time. Even in the next life, we will still remember the memories of loving each other.

As it so turns out, when you try to please both camps of people who want different things, you end up alienating them instead. Or at least getting them writing paragraphs on theories and story hypotheses because the game couldn’t have been the least bit clear of what actually happened. 🙄
Well, duh, that's what they wanted. They've been playing this game since Advent Children. In the original, Aerith was waiting for Cloud at the yellow flower field in the credits. Then they cut that part off in Complete AC. Why? To have people fight over shipping wars. Even though the symbolism is the same and Cloud arrives at the very same yellow flower field.

I’m excited for the next one and it seems that Zack made 3 timelines one where he goes and heads to hojo for a cure for Cloud which might actually come into play in the next game and the one where he goes to biggs and the one where the Zack fought alongside Cloud in the final boss against Sephiroth and he believes it’s possible to change destiny and meet again

1) Zack and aeris can still die in other realities and/or 2) if the main reality is ultimately changed it means AC doesn't need to ever happen so it's still canon

this only happends in movies/games- its a world with magic, summons, goblins, fairies etc and this dude cant say she is alive and right next to us, in a spirit form?! I think trying to apply logic in a scene overcharged with symbolism and little clues, in a magic world as you described, is pure, 101% concentrated, cope.

I sit here as im installing Rebirth... as an original FF7 player I had to know. I had to know because my emotions are already haywire due to my mother's sudden death recently.
So I will be one of the first to say thank you. Thank you for showing me this and reassuring me that this game is well worth the playthrough without feeling I am wasting my time emotionally just for nostalgia's sake.
To FF7, the first game to ever make me tear up, and to Rebirth, that will allow me to relive that emotion when I need it.
