I saw Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty Science do a video about the issue and she got labelled on one of those studies as a "propaganda source" which I found insulting as well as hilarious in sarcastically way. It is wonderful that Dr. Dray also talked about the issue. These two wonderful women offer such great information and I am glad to have found them before getting into the fearmongering.

I had to chuckle and reaffirm myself that the paper was a joke by saying lab muffin is a propaganda source and a blog site as reference is a no no for published works, as much as lab muffin puts out good info.

If this study is so inaccurate, cherry-picking its data, why was it not detected, corrected, or dismissed from publication? Had that been the case, none of this aftermath would have happened.

It is crazy how much "risks" get blown out of proportion. It's like saying you will get cancer if you drive past a bus stop while people are sitting out there smoking. Like if anything is "stretched" so far out of proportion, of course, one could say there is some "risk"... just like getting in your car every day to drive to work "may" mean you get into an accident. Does not mean avoid leaving your house, or avoid using sunscreen. We cannot mitigate 100% of risks without giving up living our lives.

Dear Dr.Dray, you have helped me so much over the last years to solve so many skincare problems. Both on my body and face. You have helped me save so much money by guiding me to effective products. You have saved me huge amounts of time testing this and that latest miracle ingredient or researching harmful ones. You have educated me to help me get the best from my doctor visits. But - MOST OF ALL- you have given me the enormous gift of PEACE OF MIND and reminded me there are good sincere and honest people willing to put their heads over the parapet for us. I was suffering from all this conflicting false advertising and FEAR and felt used like a pawn by the industry, lost, confused and angry. Thanks for taking me off that merry go round. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Siobhan. (From Ireland - you have fans here too.)

    Exactly, cannot agree more!
As we say in pharmacology, and you most certainly often refer to this very underlying pillar of medicine and/or therapeutics. which is _dosis sola facit venenum_ .
This means, "only the dose makes the poison", which in turn refers to the very fact that every chemical could be a poison provided that it was eaten, drunk or absorbed in excess.
I just love and appreciate that you are taking time in informing people and demystifying these things in a jargon-free way for a better comprehension! And for what its worth, many thanks for this! 😊😊😊

I don't use sunscreen anymore because it was what caused my skin to react very badly in the sun, I had a very bad rash and skin looked blotchy. At first I thought it was because of the sun itself. I honestly didn't feel like experimenting with sunscreens anymore, so I just ditched them.
I now only go out in the sun when it is safe, so I don't get a burn, but a light tan. Also helps with vitamin d absorbtion.

    Hello Dr. Dray,
Thank you for these informations .
I looove all your videos ! I’ve learned so much!!!
I live in Germany and this summer I have been noticing a lot of sunscreen with the label octocrylene free on it !
Looks like the trend has been all over the place!
But I have another burning question.
Can you put up or maybe you have a video on titanium dioxide.
I’ve been running away from it ( and finding a sunscreen without it especially not in nano form is quite the problem !)
And finding alcohol free and fragrance free ones is another problem :)))
I’m asking because someone I know has had been using sunscreen for 30 years on a daily basis and based what her physician and some studies have shown
titanium dioxide among some other factors looks like it led to loss of hair ( on her head and face ! )
It said it’s carcinogenic and the list goes on!
I’m confused because it is everywhere in decorative cosmetics and sunscreens and has been around for ages .
Some sources state it’s safe and in Europe approved
Here in Germany the law is very strict when it comes to cosmetic toxicology .
Nonetheless, the opinions are devided …! Very differently …
    I’m confused
    Help :))
I’d love if you just give me a short answer if it’s not too much .
    P.S
Im a newbie subscriber and passionate sunscreener!
So pinky promise ! I sunscreen and I already subscribed !
    Greetings from Hamburg (Germany)

I have no idea how doable this idea might be, but I would be interested in seeing you review studies/papers/research making inflammatory claims about ingredients to see how to interpret the data. Maybe it’s not doable because maybe the average subscriber (myself included) doesn’t have enough foundational knowledge to be able to understand how you break things down. But if I could learn how to read through that sort of information and be able to pick out where they might be being inflammatory, that would be sweet. Just a thought! I appreciate all your videos and work you put in to educate us. My skin and my wallet are grateful for your content. Thank you!
